I like the location, but dislike outside appearance of the entrance compared with other hotels in the area. Entrance needs to be remodeled along with floor rugs which are very old and dirty.

Property is dated but overall the place is nice. The entrance is weird, makes you feel like you are coming through the back. The registration desk is not labeled and easy to miss since half the time you walk by it no one is there. First room i had wasn't clean and the heater was making a horrible noise. Once moved up a floor the room was much cleaner and there heater was quiet. Rooms have refrigerators, they could use a "shared" microwave in the lobby.

The staff at the hotel was very nice. Especially Alison the hotel desk clerk who check us in. Very sweet, and personalble. Breakfast there is very good, also the are is great to get to Magnificient Mile, and Riverwalk.

The location was perfect for me and my son, very close to downtown, lake front, and all the means of transportation. We did not have our car that time, so did not care about any parking and I can’t say anything about it. The room was really spacious and clean; it had all the necessary supplies except a coffee pot, but it’s ok, there was an electric kettle instead. Room service (cleaning) is not provided daily in this hotel unless you request it. It was absolutely ok with us. The best part was the front desk service and staff; it was just exceptional. Not only were we allowed to check-in at 2:00 instead of 4:00 free of charge and keep our luggage in the storage room after checking out, but we were also really impressed by our communication with the front desk staff. All of them were polite, friendly, considerate, and helpful, just awesome! It was our first visit to Chicago, so we did not know many things. The front desk personnel answered all our questions related both to the hotel and surroundings (directions, transit, etc) in detail and in a very friendly way. There is something I would change, which actually might not bother other people. First, I wish it would be possible to open a window because I like fresh air. Second, I would prefer to have yogurt and more fresh fruit for breakfast. There was a fruit bowl, but it would be great to have an apple or banana as well. On the whole, the experience was great, and I would recommend the hotel to Chicago visitors.

The Whitehall Hotel never ceases to impress me! I’ve been staying here since December 2019, and every visit has been a consistently exceptional experience. The hospitality is always warm, attentive, and genuine—something that’s hard to come by these days. Now that they’re under the Best Western Collection, the upgrades and added amenities beautifully complement the already outstanding service. It’s clear that the leadership team is committed to preserving the hotel’s charm while enhancing the overall guest experience. Tucked just off the Magnificent Mile, The Whitehall is truly a hidden gem in the heart of downtown Chicago. Whenever I’m in the River North area, there’s no question where I’m staying—it’s always The Whitehall. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a mix of elegance, comfort, and top-tier service!
