Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace Hotel

2.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Wooden floors are loud and dangerous (sharp edges). Halls and entrances have a horrid smell. Breakfast is the same nasty food everyday with the only hot food including waffles, eggs and sausage. PARKING IS A RIP-OFF. We stayed 4 nights but had to pay parking for 5 nights ($40 each) because we went over 3 hours. We didn't even use in and out option. Parking garage staff was very rude and unprofessional. Housekeeping does a poor job servicing the room. It seems they get them in and out leaving little time to do a good job. No accessible plugs by the bed. Suite is way overpriced for the poor quality. Shower head rusting and other one falling off. Water pressure is very high and it's not adjustable. Windows look nice but let in too much light and sounds. Walls are thin - can hear other rooms, hallway and outside. Staff was just okay - nothing special. Fitness and jacuzzi area also have a bad odor that made me nauseous.

Really liked the casual, homey layout, tucked into a lively neighborhood with lots of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. The room was immaculate and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only complaint, and it might be out of the hotel's control, is the obscene amount charged for parking. Aside from that, I would stay again and recommend to friends and family.

also the staff member made our night when he gave us some backstage passes to a concert we were there for...love this hotel

Well this place close to everything great staff definitely worth the stay

We arrived a bit earlier than check-in so we left our bags with the front desk. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. We got our room, which was very clean and well cared for, and enjoyed our stay thoroughly.

Paid parking garage immediately adjacent. Good variety of restaurants close by. Safe neighborhood.

From beginning to end the staff and facility was exceptional. It shows that the staff and managers really care about your experience. From check-in to check-out it was a flawless experience. Breakfast was great. The room was very clean and orderly. The staff respected our privacy but yet still cleaned the room when we vacated for some time. Would definitely stay here again. The price is a bit high and a pool would be nice but it was still all worth it.

I was pleasantly surprised by this great hotel! Tucked away in the boys town neighborhood, and located in an historic building. It felt more like a boutique hotel than a Best Western! Really nice staff, very clean, and quiet. I'd stay again, definitely!

Great experience with everything. Breakfast was better than expected. Staff was helpful and happy. Room was big and clean. No problems at all.

From the outside the property does not look like much but the friendly staff and the nice rooms made up for that!! Not to mention its centrally located in the Halsted area. Great restaurants and local shopping!!

My daughter and I were looking at colleges and this was a fantastic haven - in a darling courtyard, easy to access from downtown and just a cab away from DePaul University. Great restaurants all around, the lobby was pleasant and we sat there for quite awhile after checking out and regrouping. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Everything was terrific for the price! I would highly recommend and will stay here again.

Great location for anything around Wrigley we will stay at the hotel in the future and tell our friend as well great trip.

The hotel was located in a nice neighborhood that was close to the area that our relative lived so it was perfect for us. The wall heating and cooling unit was difficult for us to figure out so we ended up unplugging it instead of getting someone from the staff to figure it out. It was most likely fine and we just did not know how to adjust the temp, and it was pumping out heat in July.

Nice hotel-good location for catching a Cubs game. Room was nice and clean. Was worried about noise from the street as I had a street view but didn't notice that at all.

The Best Western is a very nice little hotel in a great neighborhood. Perfect for a weekend away in Chicago.

Location was convenient and in a good/safe area. Hotel noise was above average and street traffic can be loud at times

Great location near boystown. Staff not too friendly, but the place is nice

An older building, but beautifully renovated with modern amenities. A 7 minute walk to Wrigley Field. Perfect for the family and a parking garage right next door. Plenty of restaurants and shops on the block. The only thing I would add is a pool, but there's obviously no room.

You can't fault the hotel location and the staff during the evening where friendly and courteous. BUT toilet blocked up and over flowed- the daytime reception staff where very slow to respond and extremely disinterested. They rarely acknowledged your presence when entering or leaving the hotel and the lovely outside area was spoilt by cigarette ends strewn over the floor which were not cleaned up at any time over our three day stay. Breakfast hot options were very limited and hit and miss with some days being almost inedible. Queen sized Room was poorly designed with the TV so low to the floor that you couldn't view it when in bed.

It was very easy to book this hotel and the staff was very friendly and accommodating when I arrived. Great location, clean rooms, Air conditioning worked great - all my expectations were more than met.

Thank you for sharing, I would like to personally ensure that there is no doubt that we appreciate your choice in choosing BWHT, and the trust that goes along with this. We will share your constructive comments with our staff to demonstrate the importance of appreciating "every guest, every time". It will also enlighten our team to understand how very important they are with our guests, simply not enough to be a "nice hotel", but an overall "Guest experience". Please know that we strive to consistently achieve this, and in almost all cases do, however, We aren't immune to a slip here and there, and truly appreciate the time you have taken to advise us of such. We hope you will give us an opportunity in the future to show you that we take your comments to heart and have improved to win back your trust.
