I really wanted to like the Moxy Downtown Chicago, but the experience just didn’t justify the price tag. The only real highlight was the lobby — it’s cute and trendy, clearly designed for photos, but that’s where the charm ends. The rooms felt musty, including the bed, and there was an overall damp smell that never went away.
The elevator situation was a nightmare — it was down for most of the stay, which meant long, frustrating waits just to get to your room. For what we paid, it should have been at least $200 less per night. Between the maintenance issues, the stale air, and the lackluster comfort, I left wishing we’d stayed anywhere else.
