8/10 Good

The house and estate is extremely beautiful. The extensive Christmas decorations were a much appreciated touch, and the views from the house (from top of the hill) were breathtaking. The kids loved the koi pond, and the little kids loved playing on the dirt work road below the home. The owners spent tons of time upgrading and updating the landscape, which we appreciated. The interior of the house--also beautiful--was not practical for our group of 13. The master suite is opulent and worthy of a palace. The bathroom (with two toilets!) was humongous and by itself bigger than most master bedrooms. The other bedrooms (4 including a converted study), were more prosaic and on the smaller side. Accordingly, it is difficult to add cots or air mattresses to these rooms. So, large groups may want to place cots in the master or living rooms. Our biggest niggle was the heating surcharge. The ad asserted that we would be charged for heating the hottub or swimming pool. The weather was too cold for these activities, so we did not heat them. However, we did heat the house, which apparently went over the daily propane allowance. We felt like we were being nickeled and dimed for trying to keep the house at a comfortable temperature. This would likely not be a problem in warm weather, but it is a problem in winter. To conclude, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The TLC showered on this house was clearly apparent. An ideal location for up to 10 guests.
