The front desk person or manager, Amelia, was incredibly rude. I was exhausted with one sleeping child and another sleepy child checking in late. She took her time with the customer in front without regard for others in line. When she got to us, she immediately turned to the other staff person to tell him something. When I told her that we would appreciate streamlining the check in process, she sneered that she needed to train. Oddly, I didn’t see her training when she was checking in the people before and taking a long time. But she felt the need to slow our process to “train.” Subsequently, she was cold and clearly rude. Even when I went outside, I felt someone looking. I looked inside and saw her staring at me and my small child as we tried to figure out how to get our luggage and my sleeping child into the room. Definitely one of the most uncomfortable check in experiences I have had in a very long time, if ever.
Amelia can possibly train in other areas, but should not train in hospitality. Treating favored customers with warmth but those that are going through a tough moment with clear rudeness and absolute thoughtlessness is not good hospitality overall. I know the employee market is tough these days and Amelia will likely remain in her position without performance guidance. I provided this feedback only upon request.
