Good boutique hotel in mid Manhattan. Convenient location and decent size room. Will come back again

It’s clear this hotel is on the older side, but it was everything we were looking for during our weekend stay in January. Front desk was attentive when we had questions and allowed us to use their iMacs and printer at no cost. Be patient when using the key cards and showerhead!

It’s an “ok” hotel if you get it for the right price.

Warm, gracious greeting on arrival. Then they upgraded us to a double suite, corner room whichbwas lovely. Bathroom is a little small but i can live with that. Coffeemaker didn't work too well; would have been great to get hot water kettle so we could have a cuppa tea. Loved the sculpture on exterior of hotel. The yummy yoghurt and granola was a definite PLUS! I would definitely stay again and recommend!

Nice location close to shopping area and restaurants. Nice staffs who are courtesy and helpful. a little noise from the crowd streets, but acceptable.

Friendly staff, homely feel. Super large suites with tons of space, stayed here 3 of our visits and will return!

The staff made our visit. They were professional and helpful to the max. However what was remarkable was the degree of personal warmth each staff member exhibited. I felt as if I were among friends! This must be a good place to work. Personally, I enjoyed the owner's art, exhibited all over the hotel. As an art student, I saw his art studies exhibited in the public places. That added to the personality of the hotel for me.

I have stayed at the Roger Smith before and always enjoyed it. It is an older hotel, classic Gotham. The rooms are big and well appointed. The price was very good. Staff was friendly and always helpful. I was there for a week and appreciated it's close location to Grand Central and all the subway lines. The roof top bar is nice for a drink after a long day. You really get your money's worth here. I would definitely stay again.

Great location. Terrific value. Coffee & juice in the lobby would be a nice addition to yogurt.

We were so pleasantly surprised with The Roger Smith! The staff were so friendly and welcoming unlike the usual impersonal NYC hotels. Our suite was so spacious!! We had a whole sitting are and dining area with lots of ma closet space, a mini kitchen and a cute little second room for the third person sharing the room! Who usually would have been on an extra bed in living room or couch! The room deco was so quaint with old charm, very well thought of and pretty. Even ha a little desk and collection collection of books. Well stocked with clean and fresh linen and pillows. The beds were so comfortable and everything well stocked. (Towels, toiletries, paper) - we have stayed in many hotels in NYC- this felt like staying in your friends cozy apartment. Super conveniently located in the grand central region opposite convenient stores and star bucks next door. (We didn't notice a restaurant or food service in the hotel but they did offer free granola and yogurt at reception area - anyhow everyone in NYC eats out so was not an issue)

I have been staying at this hotel for years. It's great.

This is an excellent hotel, well located for midtown activities. We had a clean, spacious room for three adults.

This is my preferred hotel whenever I am in the city. Whether it is the beautiful artwork, the family friendly greetings at the door, the perfect location is difficult to say. For me it is not about cookie cutter facilities that are cutting edge, it is about the comfort of the experience that is, without fail, of the highest caliber.

I had to check in late due to the time my flight arrived in NY. When I arrived at the hotel, the gentleman behind the counter was so friendly and professional. He always had a smile on his face. The room was beautiful. It is an older building but very well-maintained - very clean and welcoming.

I stayed at Roger Smith for an academic conference and loved it. The room was clean and was decorated like a cottage, not hotel-like at all. Free yoghurt and apples at check-in. The best part: no allergens in the room. I am a sensitive person and there is usually a smell/disinfectant/chemical in hotel rooms that bother me, but this hotel was perfect. No chemicals. No artificial smells, just clean and unscented. I loved the stay and recommend it to others with chemical sensitivities.

We spent three nights in the Roger Smith in mid-September.

We spent 3 nights here at the end of a family trip through New England.

We had a nice stay in a small suite with a separate bedroom. Perfect for an informal business meeting and central to city attractions. The continental breakfast of yogurt and granola was a welcome perk adding to the European charm. The decor is old world and a little worn and if you like ambiance this is a good choice. It's a busy hotel and the staff is very helpful. Look for seasonal promotions for pricing. I liked it more than my husband did and thought it a great choice for our trip.

The room is quite and clean, very comfortable place.

Arrived early and room was not ready but desk clerk quickly had my baggage checked and gave me a suggested time of return. My room was ready when i returned. It was a particularly hot/muggy day in NYC, but my room had already been cooled and was very comfortable. Some of the furnishings had seen wear but the bed and linens were top rate and i had everything i needed in the bathroom. There was free wi-fi! Closet was spacious. In the morning, there were apples, yogurt, granola and the Wall St Journal available in the lobby. Check-out was a breeze.
