Nice oceanfront location, but the property is tired

Terrible place to stay. This is a very old building which needs a lot of remodeling/renovation to keep up with its age but it is obvious that the owner/management does not care about that but money. I don't do reviews. Actually this is the first time giving my opinion after a hotel stay. It was just terrible. First, when we arriveed at around 10pm, - observed smoke from bonfire seep into the room. Later found out the door does not even actually completely close/latch properly. We found out about this AFTER we woke up. - at check in, we were told the room had two queen beds. But when we entered the room, it had two double beds instead. - facility has 2 very tiny elevators which i question if it's even ADA compliant. And on top of that, one (of two already small elevators) was out of service. - there is something seriously wrong with plumbing. Water does not drain. We didnt even use shower due to this reason. I didnt report this because we were only staying one night (arrived at 10pm and left at 11am) - room is so small there is barely any space to move around. - swing door outside of elevator does not open all the way - Room number directory on wall is not correct. - AC very loud we had to unplug to sleep -Dirty towels. Dirty room

As with any place there are pros and cons : Pros ; 1) location location location . . . also a good lobby / lounge area that allows people to enjoy the location even when it's a typically foggy & chilly day . 2) the shower had super high pressure / fabulous altho the sink barely had a dribble from the faucet . Cons ; 1) A 'resort fee ' for parking , Wifi & in room coffee which are normal at most other motels without a fee . 2) Rooms not really soundproof from outside noise , in particular loud high pitch teens at night . 3) Also I tested their food with a basic appetizer for our state , guacamole & chips . The guac was fluid ( mostly chili verde sauce ? ) and the chips were from flour tortillas with no seasoning ( only edible with some of the verde sauce for flavor ) . Personally , if you flunk a basic , I'm reluctant to try the more complicated dishes . Other eateries required driving and there was no microwave in the rooms , only very small fridge .

Good location next to the beach, friendly and responsive staff, and nice swimming pool.

Great location but the room was a little dirty with flies flying around. Also had two used glass in front of our room when arriving.

Location was fantastic, staff are ok, property is quite run down for the price they ask

It was gorgeous. Stayed in ocean view room. Small but for 2 people was fine. It’s not super updated but it’s not old and musty like some have mentioned on other reviews. They sell bonfire kits for sunset fires complete with s’mores! The on site restaurant was delicious and happy hours were a nice touch. Overall no complaints!

Location is great. Easy to get to area attractions and restaurants. On the beach with beautiful views. Outdoor pool is heated but in need of more frequent cleaning. Nasty amounts of hair floating in it. Had an interior room by pool. With paper thin walls, created a lot of noise. Bathroom was VERY small and pillows in need of replacement. Room looked like it could use some updating and carpet cleaning. Restaurant onsite had great breakfast, but dinner was the worst meal we had during our entire trip. I think they were short staffed. Waited a while to be seated despite tables being empty due to tables needing busing. The meal itself was overpriced $23 for 3 fish tacos that sat under a warming plate for far too long before making it to table. It didn’t even come with sides! Daughters chicken nuggets were actually chicken strips that were almost burnt. Would not recommend for dinner. Overall loved the view and proximity to other attractions but for the price, will not be staying again.

The staff was very courteous and helpful. One of the recommended a restaurant on the Warf to go to and it was excellent. The rooms were clean and we enjoyed our stay. We would definitely recommend this to others and when we return to Monterey would stay there again. Thanks and Have a Terrific Aloha Friday.

The views were great from the room, I wish there was more privacy though because to actually see the ocean from the room you have to keep the blinds open and it’s the walkway to all the other rooms. So we kept the screen down the whole time you can see the ocean still but it’s obviously not as pleasing. Also on the menu in the room it says “Brunch 9-2pm” and we went to the restaurant at 11 and they said it changed they were no longer serving breakfast. I told them the menu in the room said brunch until 2. And the guy behind the counter said no it not anymore. I asked if I could speak to a manager he said no one is here just me. And I asked if anyone else I could speak with he said to go to the front desk. So I ask the front desk and they said they are no longer doing brunch until 2 that the menu in the room is wrong. It was disappointing as the view from the restaurant was nice but nothing on the menu seemed worth it for the price.

This property is EXCELLENT. The only reason I rated service poorly was due to the fact our room was never cleaned by house keeping. Otherwise this inn is a delight. Bathroom is also super small.

Great ocean views rooms are kind of small though Also kind of hard to find the elevators

it was nice being so close to the beach and hearing the waves crash throughout the day and night. the rooms were pretty small, there was no microwave, guests would put their trash outside their rooms but it was so windy all the time the trash was blown around the complex. i had to get a credit on my card due to the staff over charging me and when my husband and i walked the beach we saw a dead seal about 10ft away from the hotel, a life guard truck drove right past it and did nothing. that is a heath hazard and as sad as it sounds not appealing to guest. when checking out we were not asked if we like our stay, they treated us more like we a transaction then a guest. the restaurants food was ok, i got the chicken sandwich and the chicken was dry and the waiters never came to ask if everything ok, we had to ask for more water, they leave milk in a little container for when you want coffee but there was a hair in it. for what seemed to be a higher class hotel it felt like a best western.

The hotel restaurant an lounge/bar were great spaces that were trendy and inviting. The proximity to the beach was amazing. We were lulled to sleep each night by the sound of the waves. The rooms however are very dilapidated and no amount of paint would freshen up the space. We had to repeatedly slam our door to ensure it closed properly. The room itself was dark and on the small side. The furnishings were very worn and sad. The rooms were clean, just very cave like and rundown.
