Embassy Suites Monterey Bay

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

We stayed two nights at the Embassy Suites Seaside 4 young children (1,3,5,7 yrs old). The facilities are okay. It's nothing fancy. The staff were AMAZING!!! From the time we checked in, for each breakfast, happy hour, time at the pool (indoors - a plus when it's rainy and 50 degrees outside), requesting extra sheets and blankets to make a fort, a pack and play for the 1 year old. THEY WERE ALL GREAT PEOPLE!

Great location, short drive to Cannery Row and Aquarium. Great staff, got to room and it smelled of cigarettes. Called front desk they apologized and immediately offered a new room, which we took. They didn't need to apologize for some loser who broke the rules; its a smoke free hotel.

My room faced the ocean. It was clean and nice, but quite warm. The a/c did not work, so I had to open the sliding glass door to the balcony and the bedroom window to get a cooling breeze. Unfortunately, the noise level from the busy highway and roads below was very high. I tried a pay-per-view movie for $17.99, but although the room TV was hi-def, amazingly the movie was not, and shown with the wrong aspect ratio to boot (stretched horizontally so faces were fat). Needless to say, the menu function on the TV had been defeated (this is common in hotels), so I could not even correct the aspect ratio. I demanded a refund and will credit the hotel staff for giving me no problems about that and taking the movie off my bill right away (I am sure I am not the first patron to complain about paying more than the price of a theater ticket for a non-hi-def movie!) My one-night cost was over $300. I expected working A/C and hi-def pay-per-view at such a high price.

Despite my 5 year old's description of this hotel as "boring" it fit the bill for our quick trip to the aquarium. The managers reception (5:30-7:30) was great and I was impressed with the real live alcoholic beverages served. The beer/wine selection was meh but it was free so there you go. Included breakfast was nice but unfortunately the line for the actual eggs was so long. The buffet did have pre made (powdered) eggs. The kids loved the pool. The front desk staff was great. The woman who checked us in was too stiff with an irritating sing song voice but the rest of them were very accommodating when we asked to change to a room with two doubles from the king we were in. The drive to the aquarium was 25 min in traffic. There is a McDonald's nearby and also Jose's Mexican Food which is fantastic.

Booked last minute stay and wasn't disappointed. Elevator wasn't working on first night but was fixed the next morning. Room was ok...2 double beds and pull out couch. Ordered room service, was reasonable. Have to pay $10 for parking. Breakfast was okay...pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, cereal, oatmeal, fruit and yogurt. Would have been nice if room had a view but we were only on 3rd floor. There's a Chili's at end of parking lot , Starbucks, McDonald's and Smart and Final across the street. Complimentary water available.

The location is great. The room was dirty, we couldn't take a shower cuz there was no water and of course they blaming the state on that. So don't stay in the higher levels NO water in the shower. They won't let you check in before 4 unless you ask to speak with the manager. I just didn't regret staying there. The food was ok. I wouldn't say great. But ok. Bottom line don't wast your money on that place. They rude and they won't do anything to help.

We go to Monterey Bay often and stay at this Embassy often but the price for 4th of July was super high considering it wasn't close to being sold out. The elevator was broken and the others were super slow. The bartender at the happy hour wasn't the friendliest and we asked for a high chair for breakfront and the person never came back. Overall disappointed with this last trip.

Embassy Suites is our go to destination when in that area. Having stayed there before, we knew what to expect and were not disappointed.

Spa and pool were great and breakfast n house were fabulous!!

We were passing through the Seaside-Monterey area and booked this property at the last minute. The staff was very gracious. Our room over-looked the Pacific, close enough that we could hear the crashing of waves. The room was of a generous size and exceptionally quiet. The bed was comfortable and we both woke rested and refreshed. The balcony was a lovely surprise and we enjoyed our morning coffee there while watching the sea birds. We would highly recommend this property!

Lovely courtyard, nice pool and work out room, awesome breakfast.

hotel seemed updated since last visit. carpet is getting old, but overall clean. free made to order breakfast and large suite rooms a plus. staff were all pleasant with a smile. there is a 10 dollar parking fee now. very good value, especially when traveling with kids and family.

Loved our room on the 12th floor. We appreciated the happy hour from 5:30-7:30 pm and the included breakfast in the morning. Staff was also accommodating, and this may have been the best Embassy Suites we stayed in.

The air condition and ventilation in room 504 was not working properly. The room was musty which made it difficult to sleep. The manager was very accommodating and moved us to another room for our next night. Room was very nice. The hotel offered a very nice cocktail / appetizer hour in the evening and a very delicious made to order breakfast in the morning. I would recommend this hotel to others, but check out the room first.

This is a very standard Embassy Suites - which is not bad! The two room suite set up is good for longer stays and rooms are comfortable. This is the first hotel in a long time where internet access is not free - and speed is not quick for the pay for use service. Location is some distance from Monterey main attractions but easily accessible.

Drinks and food included is always good. I think they try to give what they can on the cheap. Overall it was ok.

Beautiful Hotel, great staff. Only problem was the sink & shower didn't drain properly. Very good buffet breakfast

Great location to access Monterrey, Carmel and Pacific Grove. Beautiful hotel with amenities like cooked to order breakfast and evening reception. Suites were big and comfortable.

Great location, nice hotel, but disappointed for the price. The T.V. had problems, a repairman came after the phone rang about 30 times. He said the wires are bad, but just giggle them and it will work. The lamp didn't work. The elevator was operating slowly, I thought it was going to breakdown. Shower curtain was too small, bathroom flooded when shower is used. NOT WHAT I EXPECTED

Loved our stay at Embassy Suites, the complimentary breakfast was great particularly the cooked to order omelet. Hotel was just 10 minutes from Cannery row. The hotel was great, a vacation I will not soon forget.
