I read mixed reviews about the consistency of the rooms at the Grande Ocean Club, but ours in the Dolphin building, was very nice. There is construction going on next door at the Hilton, but I did not find it to be much of an issue. This is a huge property and the beach is massive. You can certainly find plenty of privacy and quiet throughout the resort. One pool is I heated, but there are several others that are heated, and they were never crowded. This is more of a family place with a fair amount of toddlers. We found that enjoyable since we have children, but it may not be for everyone. I can say this, we stayed at the Sonesta last year in Hilton Head and the Grande Ocean was nicer with more room, better pools, and a better setting.

Background: I've been a MVCI owner for over a decade. Home property is Myrtle Beach Grande Dunes. Family of 4 11yo and 7yo girls. Based out of NYC. The property is perfectly located on the beach as well as 0.5 miles from the Sea Pines gate. The property is well manicured and laid out. The pools are comfortable, and beach access is ample. The poolside bar staff are friendly and fast. The food is fine, nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. The fitness center is small and tucked away, but has THE best sunrise view. Parking is a little bit of a challenge, but on HHI where is it not? Units are fine, not ultra modern, but here again on HHI you don't necessarily want/need ultra modern. The sheets and towels are fine, and if you have an issue with them, you probably are thinking too much. Brandon's name is bandied about in several reviews, you'd hope management sees and recognizes the value he brings to the property and to MVCI overall. He's great. Having been to locations up and down the eastern seaboard as well as properties in California and Internationally, I can say that hands down this dude is the best activities staff member my family has come in contact with. Blown away with how professional and fun he is. Unfortunately, there are things that I have to point out. The front desk staff and concierge were largely useless. They were not helpful in making recommendations on food, reservations and more importantly weren't able to provide accurate information on activities ON SITE. Thank goodness for brochures and Trip Advisor which allowed for my wife and kids to see what they wanted to do and where. The grills on property are pretty weak- may seem like a minor complaint but everyone who used them said the same thing ("these things never get hot enough"). A previous reviewer mentioned trouble with the bike staff. Although I didn't rent a bike, I am pretty sure I know who they spoke of. My daughter and I walked through the garage where bikes were rented out we commented to each other about the man who was working there and how he just gave her a bad vibe and how I thought it peculiar that I felt the same. To close out on a high note, I go back to Brandon. An example of his professionalism and recognition of the needs of his guests. Over Easter week, he brought in his magician for an extra show. Maybe magic isn't everyone's cup of tea, but Brandon knew that there was a need to fill an evening for families and children. The activities room was jam packed with kids who were mesmerized and adults who were laughing and enjoying themselves. Brandon measured the temperature of the guests, dug into his bag of tricks and provided a fun evening which made for great memories- great enough to cover for the lackluster performance of some of his peers.

Our first actual vacation in years. We desperately needed peace and quiet. The sound of the ocean... We called and requested a quiet villa, away from ice machine and elevator noises, preferably with no sounds of even footsteps above us. And it was taken literally. My request was parroted back to me at check-in. I was relieved they had taken my request into account when they blocked our villa. It was Sunday. We moved all of our week's stuff in, nesting, putting everything where we thought it ought to go for the week. We bought a week's worth of groceries. All in, we probably spent 2 hours putting things where they needed to go to maximize our comfort. My husband was sick, so we had an extra bin of medicine and a nebulizer to set up. So, it turns out they took my request quite literally, ignoring the true meaning, as in, please find us somewhere quiet. Our villa was most likely the noisiest of the entire resort. Next to a several story construction site, with noise from early morning to well after 6pm. It was dark and a non-working Sunday when we moved in. We didn't see it coming...until Monday morning arrived and we were woken by clanging and banging. The front desk supervisor/manager I spoke with that morning offered to find another villa for us. Generous. Has she not stayed anywhere for a week? Where you are "welcomed home" and encouraged to make it your home, i.e., bring your stuff and put it in all the right places? They know you bring a lot of stuff. They thoughtfully provide a dozen luggage carts and several laundry carts for grocery move-in. It was laughable that she stated that she was unaware of the construction. Does she not drive by the giant blue crane every day? My husband is sick. Moving would worsen him. So we couldn't move. Our relaxing time away seems like imprisonment. I wish you could hear it. I did request that our bathrooms be cleaned the next day, since my husband was spending that Monday in bed. There were hairs that did not belong to us and weeks' worth of grime on the toilet bases. I was assured they would honor my request and come after 1pm. The request did not go through. No one was scheduled to come. The housekeeping manager never heard anything about the villa not being clean on check-in. He came to see the bathrooms. He apologized for it. And then I Iater spoke with the GM, who apologized for the grit/sand on the floors. Apparently the housekeeping manager didn't want to admit to the toilets not being cleaned in his documentation. We would much rather have had a clean, quiet villa from the start than a token gift card and an unwelcome gift basket.

Great resort with a lot of amenities. Staff very accommodating. Rooms are large with plenty of space. Would highly recommend. Right on beach. Kitchen well equipped. Plenty of pools. Parking generally not a problem.

Hotel is very conveniently located to Sea Pines on Hilton Head. Marriott Vacation Clubs annoyingly enforce 10a check out and 4p check in which helps to minimize both cleaning staff labor and patron enjoyment. Indeed, we were leaving one Marriott Vacation Club property to go to another - thus, we were effectively SOL for 6 hours. Grande Ocean let us in to our room at 3:55p - which was an inconvenience. We have 4 kids 10 and under and ...... sometimes private bathrooms and showers are needed....So, Marriott, please do not talk to me once again about full access to facilities while we are waiting to check in ....Bar staff at the ocean bar are super friendly and responsive. Mahi salad was also quite tasty. A negative - the bath towels feel like sand paper - maybe negative 25 count cotton?? and washed 2 thousand times before being put out of service??? Is it too much to ask to have soft bath towels?

We have been coming to Hilton Head for 35 years and are legacy owners at Marriott's Monarch. This teat, due to renovation at Monarch, we stayed at Grande Ocean, and the experience was fantastic! The resort is large but still cozy. Indoor and outdoor pools, many hot tubs, exercise center, activities, market place and bar.

My wife and I stayed here as a part of the Marriott Vacation Club - and loved it. We stayed in a 2BR, 2 bath apartment that was spectacular and lacked nothing. The staff is superb and does their best to meet all our needs (they booked a golf outing and dinner reservations for us). Ashlee at Concierge desk was awesome and Carla at front desk welcomed us like we were home. Highly recommend this for a great staycation! 5 Stars! We will be back.

My 5th year here and it's always incredible. Staff are the best in the world. Amenities are top notch and activities are endless. Pools are always in perfect balance. Loads of hot tubs and pools evwrywbere. Two negatives: I wish for months like March they'd increase the heat on the outdoor pools. Also the guy that works at the bike shop. One of them... Is absolutely nasty. His attitude is corrosive, his demeanor is unacceptable and the way he talks to my kids is disgusting. Myself and my party of 40 this year all experienced this. Wildly unacceptable and affected two days of our stay with his inability to help, be courteous or just be reasonable. I don't know why they allow him to work with customers as I've heard from many others that they've Recieved the same treatment. However. Then Brandon... The dawg in charge of activities comes in and helps tremendously. Amazing staff member. Helped us out quite a bit and resolved some of the issues the nasty bike guy created. Many of the old 'rich' community there hate seeing the kids here. It's annoying. They say things like 'this is worse than Disney' when I walk past with a stroller. Or stare and grunt. Because old wealthy people are better than young families... In their opinion. But I'm an owner. And we belong. And Marriott treats. Y family like royalty. Even the kids. Grand ocean is quite literally the best place to vacation

This was our first trip to Hilton Head Island. We booked the Grande Ocean through the Marriott Vacation Club. The villas are wonderful, cleqn and well appointed. There are several pools and hot tubs around the property and just a short walk to the beach. The hotel is centrally located on the island and just a short drive to anywhere you need to go. The only down side was parking. There were seveal evening we had to drive around to find a parking spot. I would suggest assigining a spot to each villa. Staff was friendly and very helpful. We will be back

The staff at check-in were very friendly. We were given a map of the property and a magazine that had all of the restaurants on Hilton Head Island. The property requires all guest to wear wristbands while out on the property. The view and hotel amenities are amazing. Having the beach in walking distance is a plus. The 2 bedroom 2 bath came equipped with a full kitchen, dining room, laundry room, with a large balcony. Please be sure to visit a grocery store near by and stock up on drinks and snacks. Everything closes pretty early on this island except for this 24hr hr diner. So if you are a night owl and plan on hanging up late it wouldnt be a bad idea to stock up when you first arrive.
