We spent one night at the ranch. We are very impressed by the fresh breakfast, especially the unique duck egg omelette. The ranch is cozy and quiet. The goats are smart and cute. It provides us a perfect place to rest visiting the volcano.
This was a fun place to stay. My daughter loved all the animals.
If you want to escape from the throngs of tourists and relax, come stay here for a couple days. Theresa and her husband keep everything clean and organized and comfortable. Five minutes away from Volcanos National Park. Amazing animals to see and pet. Lush and green due to the rain.
We loved Volcano Acres Ranch. The property is beautiful and tranquil. We enjoyed looking out of the many windows and being entertained my the ranch animals. From the decor to the Hawaiian music playing upon arrival, the ambiance made you feel at home. We highly recommend VAR.
We absolutely loved our stay at Volcano acres. The luxury bungalow was perfect for our stay during our visit to Volcano National Park and appreciated all the little extras like local coffee and towel warmer to help us feel welcomed. The view of the pond and happy animals grazing was a great site to wake up to. Theresa and Randy were kind and helpful hosts. Would recommend this stay for anyone traveling to the park for an overnight stay!
We stayed in the Ohia Ranch suite, the one shown with the jetted bathtub, which we were advised not to use by the manager due to not enough hot water. The room, which is over the carport (convenient since it rained a lot the two nights we were there) was exactly as pictured and quite comfortable. We did hear the managers moving about upstairs, though this was not bothersome. What was, however, were the rooster(s) that wake you up starting at about 5:30-6:00am. So, it’s a fine place to stay as long as you don’t want to sleep in or bring earplugs. Breakfast was good as was the advice from the manager re hiking in the park and restaurants. It smelled bad in the entry way to our suite, but not in the room, which was very clean. They expect you to clean any cups, coffee pot, etc. that you use in the suite’s kitchenette.
Our room was unbelievably spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was amazing, fresh fruit, protein options and waffles too! We would definitely stay there again!
Nice room and large bathroom! Love the breakfast papaya and the lovely animals in the ranch.
My wife and I were truly impressed with the house. The room was very spacious and well decorated. There were lots of windows and beautiful views. Breakfast was outstanding. Best of all, we booked the loft and got a free upgrade to a bigger room. I am seriously shocked at how high the quality of this place was, especially for the price. I felt like the room should have been 300/night, especially with the delicious breakfast thrown in. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit the Big island for a fun excursion away from Kona.

Timothy, Mahalo for taking the time to write a review of our little piece of paradise. The Punawai Hale room is one of our favorites! With views of the pond and up close interactions with the animals, it's hard to not have a good time. We hope to see you again if you are ever back to Volcano. Warmest Aloha!

Aloha, I am sorry for the misunderstanding about the jetted tub in the room. We totally expect you to use any amenity in your room, what we were trying to advise you of is that you will run out of hot water before the tub fills, but once you turn the jets on for about 10 minutes the water will be plenty hot. I am sorry that got lost in the translation to you. With the amount of rain we had during your stay, I am certain the rug in the entry way to your room became damp which was the smell you noticed. I do apologize for the oversite. We are glad you enjoyed your stay overall and hope you enjoyed your trip to Hawaii.
