Hilton Garden Inn Kauai Wailua Bay

3.5 out of 5.0

We loved this hotel. We were deciding between Kauai Shores, Coral Reef and Hilton. This one was by far the best. It's beautiful inside and out. Clean rooms, great staff, and love that they are so close to the beach. We would stay here again if we get another opportunity to go to Kauai.

Very polite and friendly staff Bar and restaurant are good, live entertainment at night Nice decor and beautiful garden Pretty bad damp smell in the room, air conditioner is very loud Mattress is too soft

Pool was cold, hot tub had an oily substance floating in it. I suspect it was sunscreen

it is very close to shopping, central on island and near the beach.

Good ocean view. Dated room furnishings. Parking is limited.

Close to beach and friendly staff, older hotel that has been updated.

The hotel is in a great location right next to a beach park so you can see the ocean from many spots around the hotel grounds and it is just a short 2-3 minute walk away. There is also a huge playground located at this beachpark so it is available for use too. I gave my rating as disappointing because the hotel did not have my room as I reserved and the wifi was very very unreliable. I was traveling with my 13 and 10 year old sons. I had wanted 2 queen beds and instead got "upgraded" to a cottage with 1 king and 1 very uncomfortable sofa bed. We all ended up sleeping in the king together (which means I ended on in the sofa bed at some point in the middle of the night). Also the wifi never worked in my room and my cellular was spotty. We would have to go up to the lobby every evening to get phone/computer service so I could research what I was going to the next day or to find a restaurant. I reported the problem to the front desk repeatedly and they sent someone immediately but it never worked. It was really frustrating for us - in so many ways - doing research for trips and not being able to use netflix on our ipads - that it makes me not recommend the hotel.

When we registered, our registration was not there. Orbitz had put in the wrong name. They misspelled our name on our airlines tickets. 2 tickets for my husband and none for me. Then spelled my name wrong. got that fixed and they spelled my husbands name wrong again. I am handicaped and use a scooter to get around. Alamo had the smallest car for us. They up graded us to a Cadelaic. Drove to the hotel. Next morning the car would not open. This was at 8:00. At 11:00 someone came to open the car. To get tickets I had to go to the airport. Could not get them on line. Our seats on the plane, back wall with no window. I made my revisitation 2 months early. DONOT USE ORBITS.

The hotel is old, and slightly outdated. The only real complaint is the food there, it wasn’t good and very pricey.

Jeanne was very pleasant upon check-in. It was effortless and I never felt like a burden. Room was nice and clean. Quiet. A/C a major plus! Would stay again!!

Great location. The hotel restaurant and bar is good. Can't think of a bad thing to say about this hotel-it was wonderful!

The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, the restaurant/bar staff were rude and when we walked up to get a drink they ignored us until we started walking away. The food was ok, there wasn't much of a selection. If you want pool side service you wont get it. The only thing we enjoyed about this hotel is the beach and park for our kids. Our rooms didn't get cleaned until 4-5pm right as we were all in the room getting ready for dinner. A few days they didn't even clean our room, they took our trash and that was it. We had to call every day for clean towels. We thought it was going to be a much different experience based on the reviews we read and the photos. I definitely wouldn't stay at this hotel again or recommend it to anyone.

Good service. Staff needs to be more friendly. Amenities are god. I like the gym, spa, and pool.

Overall this hotel was great, friendly staff, the beach in back of the hotel was beautiful and kid friendly. The only thing I was surprised with was that this hotel doesn't offer room service. I thought all hotels had room service, which is my fault for assuming. I would recommend staying here though.

AC broke down 2 days into the stay and we had to move to a new room. The staff was able to upgrade us to a cottage without charging extra but did not offer to send anyone to help us move from one room to the other or offer any other compensation for our inconvenience.

The staff was all friendly + helpful, Lydgate beach was easy to get to. The extra amenities like free Mai-tais everynight, lending of a cooler, beach towels + mats, ans bicycle for 2 hours was terrific and unexpected. It helped to make our Kauai marriage and honeymoon memorable and enjoyable. We would go back for our anniversary! Thank you.

We had a one night stay at the Hilton Garden Inn. The location is right next to Lydgate Park, making for a very short walk to a nice protected beach that is young-kid friendly and good for snorkeling. Our room was nicely equipped with a small refrigerator and microwave, so we took advantage of heating our own breakfast in the morning and had cold drinks as needed. The AC was nice to have. Our room was on the second floor facing northeast, giving us a view over the pool and nice view of the Wailua Beach, but no lanai (first floor rooms have a lanai).
