The property was amazing, The pool was incredible and having the beach so close by was really nice. The food at the restaurant was also really good, we had a fabulous stay

Views from the property were great.

We have traveled to Princeville many times, but Hanalei Bay resort is by far the most beautiful place we have stayed. The staff were so friendly, the pools are gorgeous, the restaurant was awesome, our room was absolutely perfect and well-stocked. We can’t wait to come back and will definitely come to the same place again!!!

Property has beautiful views, has a little bar/restaurant. Property staff is amazing and attentive.

The location is the only good thing about this place right now April ‘21. The views of the bay are gorgeous. This may as well be a condo. Not worth the price. No restaurants or bars were open so had to leave the property very often unless you plan on buying groceries and dining in every night. Parking is very far from most buildings near check in. Gas golf carts are loud and go by every 10 minutes.

We didn't stay at the hotel very much even though it was fantastic. Too much to do outside the resort in Kauai. Great views, great pool, and room was everything we needed.

We enjoyed our short stay. It was a perfect spot to relax after hiking the Na Pali Coast.

Aloha spirit alive & well here. Grounds are exquisitelying beautiful.

Rooms are not adequate to their high-price-level: - small, dark (even by sunshine you have to use the light), poor view, keen-eared (normal talk of neighbours is hearing), old-fashioned-styled, impractical (in order to use coffee machine, we have to place it on the floor, nearby next wall socket.) Small refirgerator stands on rack, which is rather provided for suitcases - Chairs and table on lanai dirty. 3 times reminded, but no reaction. We gave it up. - Questions to manager concerning asbestos issues are ignored.

This was our first time at HBR. We were so impressed with the size of the room and the fully stocked (newly renovated) kitchen. The living room was a good size and the balcony was large also. They provide a little welcome basket The bedroom had 2 queen beds and the living room had a pull out bed. Perfect for families. The bathroom was a good size and the sink was outside of the shower area so people could get ready using the mirror / sink section. The pool area was great and so was the Jacuzzi. The pool bar was getting renovated so we were able to bring our own drinks (no bottles) to the pool which saved us a lot of money. Take advantage of the beach access! There are shuttles that will drive you down to the beach (it is a STEEP hill). One of the nicest secluded beach that has the most gorgeous backdrop. The staff was great and so friendly. We called in a few days before and let them know we would be arriving early (check in is at 4pm and we arrived at 11am). They let us know that the room wasn't ready but we could hang out at the pool. They held our things and we headed straight to the pool. It would have been great but it rained on and off until 4pm and we had no where to go except the lobby. We stuck it out in the intermittent rain under one of their tiki umbrellas. Check out is also super early -10am. no exceptions. they have a hospitality room for you to leave your things in if you choose to hang out on the premises that day but sleeping in. Also comforter is thin

Horrid hide-a-bed to sleep on every thing else was remodeled. The shower was the done well. Leaving was the high light.

Very nice place in the North shore of Kauai. I highly recommended it for anyone looking to staying in Princeville area. Close access to the beaches and Ke'e beach.

My wife and I went on our honeymoon here this past week and it was amazing! They upgraded us to a 2 bed loft overlooking the pool area. The entire grounds were beautiful! The staff was incredibly helpful as well. They are currently doing renovations because of a fire that happened recently, so there were not as many amenities as they would usually have. But it was still breathtaking.

As I understand it they are refurbishing all the rooms. Ours really needed it. It was a studio room which I didnt realize when I looked for a bedroom. The pull out bed was sleepable in but you could feel the springs. Small kitchen, well supplied but out of glasses and plates in the cupboard were out of reach for a short person. Really loved the pool with waterfalls. Had some trouble finding the resort after stopping at 2 places to ask directions. $12.00 resort fee a day was unexpected. Like I said they are redoing a lot of the rooms so will probably be better in the near future.

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful, low-key resort. We had a rental car, and didn't mind driving eight minutes to Hanalei to have breakfast and dinner - which we would have done anyway, even if there had been a restaurant at the resort. Beautiful location, and the prettiest pool area I've ever seen. The employees were friendly, the rooms clean and large, and the kitchen well equipped. Room service only came once during our one-week stay, but we didn't mind, especially since we got a good deal, It was everything and more we were looking for. Can't wait to go back!

The hotel was pretty empty. I hardly saw people there but It is really big and it has a great view. It is in Princeville, to my opinion the best area in Kauai. I guess their restaurant was burned down back in June and our room was pretty close to it so every time we would leave the room we past by the orange cones and yellow tape....not pretty. Also our room seemed to be in the back so we would have to go by the trash cans and see employees on their break talking to each other. If you decide to stay there make sure you get a room by the pool or anywhere else but the back. The plus was that they have their own beach and its pretty nice and clean. We actually snorkeled there most of the time. It takes a while to get there if you walk but they also have little carts and if you call to have them take you to the beach they get you there pretty fast. Even though it seems like I have more negative things to say I would stay there again. If you go to Hawaii its not to stay in your room...at least not for us. We were out most of the time. We would just go to the room to shower, change and sleep. Our stay there was pretty decent.

After spending 23 days on four islands in nine different hotels or condos, this resort was probably my favorite. Everyone in my family wished we could have stayed longer. The resort, known locally as Hanalei Bay Resort, is located on what I consider the most desireable part of Kauai, its lush north shore. Its manicured grounds are covered with flowering trees and plants of every kind. Its main pool is a lagoon with several waterfalls flowing into it and the neighboring hot tub. From the resort one has a view of Hanalei Bay and the surrounding mountains. There are multiple tennis courts on site and golf nearby. The beach is accessible from the resort but don't imagine stepping out the back door of your condo onto it. There is a trail down to it and the walk back is decidedly uphill. (Having said that, we never walked down to the beach. There are better ones you can drive to.) Our condo was clean and huge. We were surprised to get two bathrooms. We enjoyed the full kitchen and powerful A/C. The sliding glass doors of our first floor unit opened up to a gorgeous view just above the lagoon and across Hanalei Bay. (We couldn't see the water, just the mountains on the opposite side of the bay.) All in all, I think we got really lucky with the location of our condo unit. We wouldn't have moved if we'd been given the choice. One last thing about the condo: It could be divided into two units—one part with a bedroom and bath only; the other with a kitchen, dining area, bath, and sleeper sofa. We were lucky to have three in our party which insured access to both sides at very little additional cost. One side by itself would have seemed small. Understand as you see my 5-star rating that I am grading on a curve here. I'm comparing this to our other similarly priced accommodations. This may seem to go without saying except that I've read reviews of this place that ding it for not being perfect while completely ignoring the fact that the nightly rate would double if it was. So what isn't perfect? Most complaints seem to center around the fact that the resort's restaurant is shut down and has been for some time. This is a little bit of an inconvenience but not an insurmountable issue. We actually ate frozen pizzas both nights that were purchased from the local grocery store and heated up in our kitchen. Nearby Hanalei has restaurants as well although no fast food per se—-and nothing I would consider inexpensive. Finally, some may not like the fact that the resort feels a little past its prime. The main lagoon pool is gorgeous but, like the restaurant, its in-pool bar is shut down and the bottom of the pool is worn. So, no, the place wasn't built yesterday. The bottom line is if you're on a budget it would be hard to find a better value on this part of the Kauai.

We've stayed at the Hanalei Bay Resort many times. Unfotunately general maintanence has been completely dropped. [...] Armoire doors hanging off broken hinges. Sliding door to lanai missing outside handle, cruddy grout in bathroom, peeling wallpaper. We stayed 5 nights and NEVER had our room cleaned. Not even the trash emptied. Thankfully the restaurant and bar have been bought out and once reopened will enhance the experience greatly. We will stay again, but will be very careful to book directly with the property, and stay away from the hotel rooms and book condo only. VERY disappointed with the condition of the room. BUT, as always, the staff was FABULOUS!
