Showed up at 9:45 at night. A couple with 4 young children. They said that since we weren’t there by 9 they sold our room to someone else. It never said anywhere that we had to be there by 9 and we were stuck trying to find somewhere to stay so late.
We were a bottom room and we had a constant smoke smell from people smoking outside our room.
Front desk wasn’t friendly nor did they tell me what I were signing. They just put the paper on the counter with a pin. My sink was dirty and my phone didn’t work. The body wash was hard to come out and u can hear the car driving by often.
We heard some gunshots around 9 pm. Waiting for a siren , no one came. I guess, no one was hurt. Need more spaces for parking. We were told that after 9pm, you could not find a spot. Price paid is more than i expected.
The sheets on the bed had holes and stains.

Upon entering the room one of the beds was not made. The whole room had a very weird smell. Every time I flushed the toilets it would leak. I woke up to a flooded restroom. I called front desk and the guy who answered said there was nothing he could do.
It was extremely expensive for a one night stay in an area where it’s not the greatest. There is cars in pieces in the parking lot. The security thing on the door was broke. One of the conditioner/shampoo bottle things was already used. The blankets had burns, tears, stains and hair on it. The only upside to this place was they were dog friendly and the staff at the office where friendly. Tho checking in was a trip as I had a woman walk by trying to fight me. No understanding why. And the guy checking me in was pretty distracted by his phone, office phone and something behind a door that even forgot if he gave me my ID back. All in all wouldn’t do this location again.
Rooms were alright not super clean, staff was eating while cleaning rooms, bags of trash and piles of left behind items scattered around property. Staff was very friendly and checkin was available at 2. Very noisy late into the night.
The area was not how I remember, it is located on Broadway in Chula Vista and the area is more sketchy then in years past. The mask law was not being enforced and I was the inly person wearing one. It appears that the red roof inn is a hangout for people that are not actually staying there. Lots of characters hanging out by the stairs, lots of noise overnight and the group of people hanging out the next morning. The linen look like it was not washed but the room was actually ok. I would not recommend this location but if you just need to rest then maybe just overnight.
