We booked a one night stay at this hotel because we were traveling with our dog and the hotel was right off the highway. The room was clean, but sparsely furnished (only one night stand, large open space with a small TV on the other side of the room). The room was not noisy. The issues I had were as follows: 1. The hotel allows pets, but the pet walking area is approximately 10 square feet with an electrical unit in the middle of it. I thought I could go to a field in back of the hotel, but found out that was someone's front yard! The street in front is quite fast so I had to run across the street with my dog and let him go in a bank's grassy area that morning. 2. While taking my dog out, I used the stairs and exited from the side of the building. Both in the evening and the next morning, I found the door had been rigged to stay open with a small rock. (You have to use your room key to get in otherwise.) In the evening, there was a woman sitting outside smoking so I thought maybe she put the rock there. As I was coming through the parking lot, the front desk clerk ran up to me asking if I had seen a woman walking around with a milk jug asking for money. I said no and asked the clerk if there were problems. She said there have been some "solicitation" issues at the hotel in the parking lot. I told her about the door being propped open. She said she would take care of it. The next morning the door was still propped open with a small rock. I went to the front desk and apparently startled the morning shift clerk who was "vaping" and tried to wave the steam away and hope I didn't see it. Another lady came from the back. I told them about the door being propped open. They seemed completely unconcerned and said, "Oh, it's probably one of the workers." I did not feel that safety and security were a top priority at this hotel. Bottom line, we will not stay at this hotel again.
We were visiting family in town for two weeks. I was careful in choosing a hotel. We could get this efficiency suite for a little more than a basic room across the street. At some point I asked myself how many times I would seriously go down and take advantage of continental breakfast... not many we sleep late on vacation. So we chose Candlewood Suites. I prefer my own coffee anyhow. Staying for a few days, you will like to put your beverages and cold items in the Apt. sized refrigerator. A sink, two burner cooktop, & microwave round out the kitchen. The bathroom was adequate and clean. Both of our comfortable beds had four decent pillows. We both commented about the quiet during sleep. We were on the third floor and all we could hear was activity in the hall outside our room. The staff and hotel management were wonderful. They handled all our questions and an emergency medical situation professionally. The facility is clean, inside and out. Very close to some great dining... you can walk to Don's for cocktails, steak and seafood or fast food if you wish. After a couple days, we knew the staff and they knew us. Their friendly presence at the desk was a daily reminder that I selected a nice place to stay. So nice to be greeted and taken care of by staff that made us feel at home.
the photo at the Trip Advisor reservation site showed bed and couch, and indicated that it was a fold out sofa bed. [Always call property and confirm]. The room was much smaller than that in photo. My adult son and I had room with one queen bed, no couch. He slept on floor. Staff was very nice, except 3 counter staff said they would leave extra blankets, pillows, etc, to male a pallet on floor. But when we got back from wedding, night clerk had no knowledge of that. Hotel was overbooked due to baseball game, so could not get a room with 2 beds.
My girlfriend and I stayed here for our tiki tubing trip. It was 10 minutes from tiki tubing. The staff made us feel welcomed and made it feel like home! They more than accommodated our needs of a late check out at 1PM so we could recuperate for our long drive back to Monroe. The housekeeping was also excellent. I am a director for housekeeping at hospitals and I am very hard to please when it comes to cleanliness. Their staff did a great job. I recommend them completely!
Stayed here off and on for over a week due to my father being in the hospital in the area. All of the staff members, including management, were excellent and went out of their way to assist with last minute reservations, room preferences, and anything we needed during our stay. And only after 2 days they began to know us on a first name basis and asked regularly for updates on my father in the hospital. Besides the outstanding staff, the hotel is very well maintained, extremely clean, and in a great location with easy access to everything. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return when in the area.
Last minutes tickets for LSU Football game, online showed motel to have no vacancies. Call the Motel direct and they had several rooms. We were so please with the staff, the room, and the complete experience.
Cheaply made hotel. You can hear everything in the floor above you, from cleaning to a nightly romp from visitors. Small rooms with a kitcheette... Nothing suite about it. For the price you would expect a Continental breakfast at least... No. But they'll sell you breakfast items for the same price as Starbucks down the street. They allow pets, so expect a barking dog in the room next to you. Not worth it... Avoid at all cost.
We just had one night here. Staff was friendly. Room was clean. Loved they had a fridge, microwave, coffee pot and even stove top in the room. Did not serve breakfast but had some breakfast items you could buy. Also, there's an Ihop just around the corner. Would definitely recommend.
Stayed here for a week had NO ISSUES the front desk was little slow but they were training new front end person the free washers and dryers are definitely a plus the stocked kitchenette was great also fitness center was clean and well kept. The little convenience store by the office was a nice option. For drink food and other things ya might need we actually check out of the hot on across the street to get rooms at candlewood
If you need a place to rest, this will do. My nephew visited hotels in the nearby area for out of town guests to stay during his wedding. He decided this one would be the best option in the immediate area based on the amenities offered among other features. He called 8 months prior to the wedding month to block off enough rooms for everyone. Check-in is anytime after 3pm. My sister arrived right around 3 with her husband, our elderly grandmother, their daughter and her family, and thousands of dollars worth of flowers for the wedding and reception. They were told NO rooms were ready at that time. The flowers began to wilt - it was well into the 90s, if not above 100 degrees that day. They sat in the lobby for over an hour waiting for a room to become available. I'm not sure how a 3-story building had NO rooms ready for a 3pm check-in. The rehearsal at the church began at 5:30 and we did not get into our rooms until after 4, giving us very little time to get ready. Everyone ended up being late to the rehearsal despite arriving at the hotel at their advertised check-in time. The rooms come with refrigerators, which was a huge reason this hotel was chosen, as all of the flowers needed to remain chilled throughout the night before the wedding. Well, the refrigerator in my sister's room still had a previous guest's food in it, which is disgusting, but the least of our worries. The biggest problem we had was that the temperature inside of the refrigerators was inconsistent. The flowers FROZE overnight. This is not an exaggeration. They actually had accumulated ice by 5am the morning of the wedding. I'm not sure if you've ever seen frozen flowers; they don't thaw well! It was really terrible. The morning of the wedding, instead of getting ready, we were dealing with frozen flowers - trying to remove bad petals and make the bouquets look presentable. The water pressure in the shower was like that of a squirt gun. It took twice as long to shower as normal. Again, this was just an inconvenience rather than a major catastrophe like the flowers and the tardy check-in. Here is where it gets really crazy. When my sister went to check-out, she was told her reservation was for 2 nights. NO one in the entire wedding group booked 2 nights, and we had the confirmation numbers and booking information to prove it. When I checked out, I was also told that "the person who checked you in yesterday must have messed up the reservation." How that could happen when we booked our room in March is beyond my comprehension. To make matters worse, the girl at the desk gave me the receipt to my sister's room (126) instead of mine (310). We don't even have the same last name since my reservation was under my husband's name! It was crazy. I felt like I had become a broken record when I had to keep telling her I was trying to check out of room 310. It took over 10 minutes to check-out because she could not properly do her job. It was bizarre to say the least. Do NOT stay at this place unless you just need a place to rest. Do NOT use this place for any formal or scheduled event. My husband and I are serious travelers. I can confidently say that we will never, ever under any circumstances stay in any IHG hotel.
