Rome International Airport

Rome International Airport, also known as Leonardo da Vinci Airport of Rome, serves travelers flying in and out of the city. The airport is just sixteen miles southwest of Rome and can be reached by taxi, car, or train. The Metro train goes directly to the airport and costs €5.50 per trip. Taxicabs are available throughout the city and will charge anywhere from €30 to €50, depending on your location. If you decide to drive to the airport, long-term parking is available starting at €18 per day.

Arriving in Palermo

Your flight to Palermo will land at Palermo International airport. The airport sits approximately twenty miles west of downtown Palmero, and a taxi to the downtown area will cost approximately €35. Palermo also has a rapid railway system, and you can take a train from Punta Raisi Station, located at the airport, to a variety of destinations throughout the city. This train leaves the airport every thirty minutes. You can also take a shuttle to some nearby hotels. Once you get settled, you’ll find that there is plenty to do in this lovely city. Visit some of the most gorgeous landmarks in Palermo, including the Stanze al Genio museum and the Norman Castle, which is also called Palazzoo dei Normanni and Capella Palatina. Temperatures in Palermo are warm throughout the year, with summer highs around eighty degrees Fahrenheit. Lows can drop below fifty degrees Fahrenheit during the winter, so be sure to pack a coat.
