The temperature in Maui doesn’t stray far from the mid 80s throughout the year: if you’re on the hunt for a bit of sun, there’s not really a bad time to travel to the island. Rain is more common in the winter months, however, so your time on the beach may be a little limited.
If you’re looking for Cheap Flights to Maui but want to guarantee time in the sun, spring and fall are the best times to visit. March to May and September to November offer warm weather and sunshine without the summer crowds. From June to August, Maui’s beaches and attractions can become very busy. This can make it harder to find good deals on flights to Maui.

Although there are three airports in Maui (Hana, Kapalua and Kahului), the vast majority of travellers will arrive at Kahului Airport which is located on the northern coast of Maui. Most flights to Kahului originate in Honolulu and it’s common for passengers travelling from the mainland US to change planes in the Hawaiian capital. However a number of airports in the US do offer direct flights to Maui, including LA, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Chicago, Denver and San Francisco.
From the airport, you can continue to your destination by taxi, by shuttle or by bus. If you’re planning on exploring the island during your stay, renting a car may be the most convenient way to get to your destination.
A number of airlines fly to Maui, with even more offering connecting services to the island.
The easiest way to get around Maui is by car. Hire cars are available from the airport and from a number of locations on the island. Having your own vehicle will allow you to explore the best that Maui has to offer and get off the beaten track.
If you’d rather not drive during your holiday, you can use buses, shuttles and taxis to get around the island. Many hotels on Maui offer shuttle services to the island’s most popular attractions and you can also join tours and excursions to many of Maui’s main sights. A limited public bus service connects some of Maui’s towns and resorts, however with only a few routes running, you’ll need to check your destination is accessible by bus before you travel.
It’s unusual for a road to be an attraction, but with such dramatic landscapes on offer no trip to Maui would be complete without a drive down the road to Hana. The highway twists and turns through lush forests, past cascading waterfalls and along some of the island’s most spectacular coastline. Pack a picnic and spend an entire day exploring this breathtaking route.
Even more beautiful landscapes can be found in the Haleakalā National Park. Home to the dormant Haleakalā volcano, it’s an excellent destination for biking, hiking and getting close to nature.
Even in the summer months, sudden rain showers are common. Pack an umbrella whenever you’re out and about to shelter from an unexpected downpour.
