John F. Kennedy International Airport is not the only airport in New York City, but it is larger and easier to locate than the other airports. This airport is on JFK Access Road, about 30 minutes from Manhattan. Emirates is the main airline that flies from New York to Dubai.

You can take a taxi or drive your own car to the airport, but the AirTrain is the easiest and least expensive option. This train connects with the subway system and costs between $7.25 and $13.75, depending on the duration of the ride. If you choose to drive, you can park in the short-term or long-term airport parking lots. Short-term parking costs $3 per half-hour, with a maximum of $33 per day. Long-term parking costs $18 for the first 24 hours, then $6 for every eight hours after that. Once you're at the airport, you can grab a bite to eat at McDonald's, Sbarro or any of the other eateries in the terminals.

Dubai: Mixing Old with New

Dubai, located in the United Arab Emirates, began in ancient days as a Bedouin trading post, but it has since grown to include towering skyscrapers, high fashion retail stores and luxury golf courses. Dubai International Airport, located at 5601 Butler National Drive, is about 20 minutes from the city center. This airport is luxurious, boasting executive flight services, exclusive greeting services and relaxing lounges. To get from the airport into the city, you can hire a taxi, rent a car, ride the metro or even take the water taxi. Water taxis and car rentals are the most expensive forms of transportation. However, a ground taxi will only cost 6 or 7 AED (about $2) per mile, with a minimum charge of 10 AED. The metro is the most cost-effective form of transportation and will cost between 2 and 14 AED, depending on the length of the trip.
