Winters are mild, with occasional cold brought by the cooling winds blowing from the north, but the temperatures never drop below the freezing point. January is the driest month of the year. The most moderate seasons are spring and autumn, which is usually sunny and dry. About 80 percent of the annual precipitation occurs between May and September, with the wettest month being August. The fall is from October to early December, and is probably the best time to visit Hong Kong. Days are generally clear and sunny, suitable for outdoor activities or hiking.
