Courtyard by Marriott Dunn Loring Fairfax

Convenient to the Metro

Easy check-in/check-out. Friendly staff. Clean, clean, clean. Will stay here again. Secure area to park your car inside and convenient to the elevator to your floor. Small pool which I didn't use, but others might find it pleasant. Fitness room is handy to the elevator as is the pool. Weekend rates are great.

Hotel RL Washington DC by Red Lion

Nice place. Interesting check-in.

I arrived around 9:30 p.m. on a Friday night. A gentleman who initially appeared to be the bellman started to check me in. I requested a different bedding configuration than was being offered and he had to go and get someone else. It turned out that they didn't have the bed setup that I was looking for and I don't blame them for that. Orbitz had requested an incorrect bed configuration. The best they could give me was a queen with a pullout couch, which was fine. I checked into the room and couldn't find pillows for the pullout couch. I went downstairs to request pillows which I wasn't too happy about after traveling all day. They couldn't find any pillows and I was offered two rolled up blankets as pillows! I firmly declined that option and suggested that they may want to look a little harder for pillows and I went back upstairs. Within ten minutes they delivered real pillows to the room. The room was clean and spacious. The hotel is well-located with a Metro stop about five minutes away. I THINK it was north Farragut. (It was one of the Farraguts.) There is a full espresso bar in the lobby (no coffee in the room) and they offered complimentary coffee for guests. I saw two nice bikes in the lobby which I believe were for complimentary use by guests. An overall good experience. Nothing spectacular but clean, comfortable and very serviceable.
