The Westin Chicago Northwest

$10/night "facilities fee" when booked thru Orbitz

Great hotel-- About 45 minutes to downtown Chicago. But- beware- they add a $10/night fee when you book through Orbitz. They don't tell you about it- they just put it on your credit card that you give them for "incidentals". Feels like a scam to me. They claim that it is somewhere in the fine print on the Orbitz site if you click the "policies" button before booking. However, it was not on my confirmation email.

Hampton Inn & Suites Chicago-North Shore/Skokie

Great experience!

Great affordable clean nice hotel close to home. I was looking for a suite that could accommodate our family of seven with an indoor pool and free breakfast all at an affordable price. This place did the trick! Staff were friendly, helpful and fast. Room was nice and clean and well appointed. Lobby was a nice place to relax. Nice pool with lounge chairs and stuff for the kids to do. Highly recommend!

Holiday Inn Express Chicago NW - Vernon Hills

Would recommend! Pet friendly!

Reservations: Very easy check-in. I have stopped at the hotel asking if I can book using the app, and then add a pet to my stay. There were not issues. The lady at registration desk (Somar) was super nice and helpful. She has handled all right, and checked me in 3 hours earlier, which was a nice addition to my plans. She explained me all, and about their special events, and it was a very good start right there! Rooms: I booking king bed and my room had everything it needed! Refrigerator, Microwave, Safe box, separate area with desk and sofa (making the room feel and look bigger). Very clean, new fresh and nice towels. Bathroom did not have any shipped corners or anything that would stand out or your eye could cath. The sink is outside the bathroom, and it is a nice addition, as it looked like it was a kitchen sink as well. Pets: most important and best!!! People traveling with pets, CHOSE THIS HOTEL!!! I have been to many hotels as my dog was a show pet (trained to hotels). Not many hotels even with allowed pet policy will be able to match this! No limit on pet weight (at least mine was more than 25 lbs), No limit on room type, they give you a nice room, not the one which is located on the first floor where the dog can hear all noise and bark. Nobody is bugging you with extra questions making you feel like you can be responsible for your pet yourself. Which is a very good addition to feel welcome at the hotel! You can leave your pet in a crate while going out for a bit. There is an extra $25 fee per day, but it is worth it. I have stayed in other hotels and there was always something that would limit you when you are with a pet, so I could not enjoy my stay at other places. But this place rocks!! Also, there is a huge park “Century park” with lakes, pet friendly, and it is just across the road. Food: I know hotels usually make continental breakfast “nothing to eat”. This hotel had a big chose, like in old days, which was a nice surprise! Bakery (cold and warm), omelet, cereals, milk, fruits, and more which I probably did not notice. It was enough so I did not have to go anywhere else for breakfast. Also, the hours of breakfast were longer than in other hotels. Personnel and environment: cleaning personnel is very nice, no one knocking your door when you have your no disturbance sign (which happens a lot in other hotels when they need you to check-out), longer check-out hours (12pm), quiet environment. Basically, you can relax.
