Comfort Inn2.5 out of 5.0

We found the motel to be a little over priced for what they were offering, but it was a nice clean place and the staff were able to direct us to a nearby restaurant that offered some of the best food we had on our 5 day trip around Lake Superior. Breakfast was limited as someone had messed up the waffle maker.
We were driving through Thunder Bay from Sault Ste. Marie heading to Winnipeg. We wanted a comfortable place to spend the night. We did not want to go down town. The Comfort Inn is very to the Thunder Bay Expressway and the Trans-Canada Highway. We wanted a restaurant close by, we could walk to. There are not a lot of dining restaurants around the hotel, but there is one called Naxos which was perfect for supper. Our room was clean. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel was very quiet. Breakfast in the morning was adequate.
Really? YOU CHARGE MORE FOR BEING ON THE MAIN FLOOR? Never heard of that, we stayed at many Comfort Inns during our Cross Canada holiday. Rates should be consistent. Same price for the same standard rooms regardless if on main floor or 2nd floor. Our dog was prettified on the open tile stairs, he just wouldn't walk up or down those stairs. My husband had to carry him up and down the stairs. We talked to the desk clerk, she said it will cost an extra $20!! For the exact same room. I'm sorry, this was the last stay in any Comfort Inn hotels. Being charged extra for dog then extra for main floor added up to nearly $180 for mid-October season pricing is ridiculous. The first room smelled fine, was fairly clean and the room we moved to smelled of faint urine and stale smoke. I know the lady said there is no smoking rooms. But there used to be many years ago. Smoke leaches through carpets and walls, the smell really never goes away. We now stay at the Super 8, pricing is consistent, $15 per stay, not per day. Comfort inn charged us up to $25 per day. Breakfast again, poor quality for what you pay for. Buh bye...
This hotel is perfectly adequate for a quick stopover during a road trip. Not far off the highway, close enough to restaurants and other amenities. It was clean and quiet, the staff was efficient. We had no problems with booking a pet friendly room.
Recently updated throughout. Clean and fresh. Was able to leave our vehicle in the parking lot for a few days while we vacationed in Quebec City. Was only charged a nominal fee for parking. A bit cheaper than the airport. Thanks for a good night's sleep!
Great service, clean comfortable room. Love the fridge and microwave and ground floor doors with easy access to vehicle. Wish the lotion containers were bigger! Nice to grab a quick early breakfast before getting back on the road.
We booked this hotel while en route around Lake Superior. The room was clean, roomy, and the bed comfortable. Hotel was easy access, right off highway 61. Very good hot breakfast and very friendly staff, especially the cheerful lady supervising/hosting the breakfast area!
we always look for a Comfort Inn when on a road trip. You can count on the rooms being clean and the staff being friendly. Location is convenient for finding a spot to stop as well as getting back on the road in the morning.
The hotel appears to be a carbon-copy of most Comfort Inn hotels. Clean lobby & room. Decently lit bathroom with average water-pressure. Relatively comfortable bed with more pillows than anyone really needs. It's generally how you would expect it. A gas station is located just across the street, as is a quick route out of the city if you're planning a longer journey. The desk has the same, super-shiny material that we've found at other Comfort Inn, which makes a laser mouse useless. Bring a mousepad or a solid piece of paper if you want to use your computer. That being said, although you can connect to the Internet, nothing will load on your computer. Your cellphone will connect and work on the WiFi, but it is a bit of a slow connection. At night, things were really quiet. If you need a place to sleep while on the road, this place will work great. If you need to get web-connected work done, seek alternative accommodations.
I found the price of the room to be a little high as compared to other Comfort Inns, such as Sudbury and Quebec City and the service and quality was the same. The location was close to gas stations and restaurants and was easy to access off the main thoroughfare through town. As in most cases, with a free breakfast, the server had difficulty with keeping the eggs and bacon stocked up.
