Take a walk through the old world in St. Augustine

The “Nation's Oldest City,” St. Augustine is a unique place, ready to rouse your historical intrigue with original narrow streets, old-world sights and quaint charm. Situated along the eastern coast of Florida, St. Augustine is located south of Jacksonville and north of Daytona Beach, with pristine beaches and incredible seaside vistas. Simultaneously boasting European and American character, it's not just the history buffs who are easily lured in.

Things to see
Castillo de San Marcos

The Castillo de San Marcos transports you back in time as you enter the fortress gates. Originally built by Spanish explorers, it is the oldest masonry fort in America, and the monument offers a glimpse into the different cultures that have influenced Florida's culture.

Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park

The original exploration site of Juan Ponce de Leon, the 15-acre waterfront of the archaeological park is another place of interest for those with a curiosity for America's past. If you're traveling with your four-legged furry friend, the park is pet-friendly, too. You can even purchase “magical” water from the Spring of Eternal Hope for yourself or as the perfect vacation gift for a loved one at home.

St. Augustine Beach and Crescent Beach

St. Augustine Beach offers a fishing pier, volleyball courts, a pavilion and fine dining, all near the St. Johns County Pier. The beach is also ideal for a relaxing day of fishing before dressing up for an evening out. Crescent Beach is located three miles south of St. Augustine Beach, and provides long walks along the gorgeous Florida coast.

San Sebastian Winery

Founded in 1996 in one of the old East Coast Railway buildings, San Sebastian Winery offers daily wine tasting, complimentary tours and an extensive wine shop. Enjoy incredible views and live music on the weekends at The Cellar Upstairs in their wine, jazz and blues bar on the rooftop!

Where to stay

With many accommodations offering sea views, it's easy to feel relaxed in St Augustine, whether on work or pleasure.

Ocean Sands Beach Inn

A boutique-style hotel, the Ocean Sands Beach Inn sits on Vilano Beach, just four miles from the historical downtown. Guests get to enjoy private beach access and views of sunsets over the surround wetlands. A heated outdoor pool, free daily newspaper, and bathtubs in each room promise a very comfortable stay.

Casa Monica Hotel, Autograph Collection

This historical hotel is full of surprises. Beautifully set in a Moorish-style building built in 1888, the guestrooms feature modern entertainment such as Bose sound systems, Wi-Fi and Nintendo consoles. Enjoy a Starbucks coffee and delectable pastries from the hotel's Café Cordova, or an elegant dinner at the delightful 96 Cordova restaurant.

St. George Inn & Suites

With incredible views of St. Augustine's Old Town district and the Castillo de San Marcos, the St. George Inn is situated on a pedestrian-only street. Visit the Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse next door or enjoy evening walks through the heart of St. Augustine. Every room features a satellite television, a quaint sitting area and a small refrigerator. Ask for a suite with a spa tub and balcony views for a luxurious stay.
