Centrally located, and just a steep walk up to Knob Hill, down to Union Square, and five minutes from Chinatown. Great breakfast.

Full access to the white swan and petite auberge. Free breakfast and bottled waters. saved us some money also. Staff were great and very helpful. two blocks from union square.

This was nice hotel that was much more interesting then the normal chain hotels. The rooms were nice but small but I didn't spend time in the room anyway.

Cool place. Great location. Friendly staff. Quite romantic. One minor quibble. The quality of the breakfast is average. Great wine reception. Would recommend the hotel!

Pros: first and foremost, amazing staff! From the front desk to the housekeeping, every single staff that we encountered during our stay was very professional and super friendly. Every time a hotel staff passed by us, they would say hi and ask if there was anything we needed. On our last day, housekeeping grandmother knocked on our door just to say good bye. How amazing is that?! Free bottled water and soda were welcomed refreshments after a long day of sightseeing. Second: great location. Easy walk to Chinatown, little Italy, North Beach, pier and shopping. Con: very small and little outdated hotel. Altho it is very charming, our standard room with queen size bed was very small with an extremely small bathroom, especially the shower. I am 5'3 and medium build and I felt little claustrophobic every time I took a shower. Bed was uncomfortable and there is no air conditioner in the room. I think normally it won't b a problem but it was in the 80's during our stay and the room was very uncomfortable. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Great location, beautiful Bed & Breakfast for my program in San Francisco was a working holiday - very nice room with the fireplace samll and very comfortable. The breakfast was very nice, plus afternoon wine and cheese tasting, so nice...perhaps I, we ll have a wine tasting again next time I, we are in San Francisco! : )

I stayed for 2 nights 3 days with my partner and had a great time. The hotel is located in a great spot in downtown, walking distance of all the shops and restaurants in union square. The staff was very very very friendly and helpful! The hotel clean and quiet, really nice for a couples getaway.

We loved the Petite Auberge for the third time! The best feature is the little parlor downstairs where guests can meet for wine, hors d'oeuvres and conversation at 5. The hot breakfast is also a plus, not to mention the location near Union Square, the comfy bed, and a gas fireplace in the room if you choose. Staff is very friendly, and everything is clean, although not modern. If you like a European experience in a home away from home, this may be your best bet.

Nice hotel, friendly staff, clean rooms and lots of charm. It is pricy, but that is San Fran. Close distance to some cool restaurants/bars. All in all, a good stay.

It feels like you are entering a European boutique hotel as you climb the steps from the sidewalk and enter the lobby. Our room ahead a genuine French feel to it and the relaxing stuffed chairs and couches and the breakfast area in the bottom floor lounge area made us long for Paris. The staff could not have been more friendly. Thank you Petite Auberge for a wonderful stay?

lovely charming place - would come back every time

Staff was the best part, decor ok, Breakfast Tea and Coffee machines not working properly, not even the old toaster! So there goes breakfast. Even store-bought Bakery goods were not fresh. SORRY I had really wnated to enjoy this place

A pleasant older hotel, clean, quiet and generally comfortable. Lovely hot breakfast, afternoon wine anc cheese and evening cookies. However our first night, a Tuesday we had to call staff at the hotel next door as they were out of wine at 6:00 PM althought wine and cheese is said to be served until 6:30 PM, this a the need to check in at the hotel several doors down while understandable were somewhat inconvient. Overall very good stuff.

A room with a fireplace can be charming, but while Petit Aberge has some nice touches like that, it lacks some of the basic. The bed was spring-y and uncomfortable and the wifi was spotty at best. Add that to the fact that my room, although quite large, did not have a desk at all and it adds up to a place that isn't a great fit for the business traveler. The free breakfast was good (sausage & quiche), but also missing are amenities like, have someone at the front desk. Not a huge deal, but a bit of a pain to have to run next door to check out of the hotel.

No service, few amenities, small room, don't bother.

We knew we had to book early, but our favorite place was already taken, so last January we booked at Petite Auberge for June. It was our first time here. Petite refers to some of the rooms! There were 6 of us in 3 rooms, and as long as you realize the smaller rooms are quite small, you'll be OK. They were beautifully decorated, quaint, and very clean. Our men left early for the US Open, so were unable to taste the delicious breakfast provided. One morning was quiche, another morning blueberry baked french toast! Both mornings had oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, pastries and fruit. It was all very well presented and clean. We could eat inside or outside on a small patio. From 5-6:30 was wine and a few appetizers. (which our men also missed out on!) All the staff was very helpful, kind, and accommodating to our needs, even providing a bottled water for our day, as we were leaving to shop. I would definitely stay here again.

A good value. It would be far better if they had staff on site.

Good breakfast, computable European style hotel with very friendly and considate stadd

The hotel was very nice and at a teriffic location to local attractions. 3 blocks to cable cars, union square, china town. amenities included breakfast, supply of bottled water and soda, apples, cookies, and an evening wine and snack hour & half. Room was roomy with sitting chairs, fire place and many shelves for storage. Coffee provided in room. we would definitely stay here again and would recommend it for older couples with no kids. Floors are wooden, so early risers or night owls are audible. one loud nightclub at back of hotel had some howlers at 2AM on two nights. Otherwise with location of room, noise was at a minimum.

Petite Auberge is conveniently located within walking distance from Union Square and right off the trolleycar stop. Front desk and staff were friendly and inviting, though rarely around, since they seem to be sharing staff with the neighboring White Swan Inn. Our room was cozy (read: small), but comfortable. Their free breakfast was very nice, usually including coffee, eggs, toast, and cereal. Housekeeping was not good--they forgot to clean our room one of the days, and some of our items went 'missing' on another.
