This was my first visit to this Marriott, and I will be here again! There was enough parking that was close to the hotel, and I don't believe they charged for parking which was helpful. The front staff was helpful. The room was what you expect from the Marriott, clean and neat - we had two double beds and there was plenty of room for the 4 of us. There was a desk and plenty of outlets for all of the phones and tablets. Late checkout at 1 pm was a bit of a problem requiring a need to get management's approval, but I had a frequent European traveler with me who was not willing to compromise saying a 1 pm checkout was the norm, over there anyway. Tried to get drinks and something to eat at midnight during the week and they closed the bar and restaurant at 11pm-so that was a bit of a bummer.
The staff at this hotel from the front desk to the restaurant need a refresher course in customer service . The curt attitudes, and lack of service was quite disappointing . Hotel property and location to restaurants and movie theatre was nice . Would never consider a return visit .
This hotel is located in the City Center. There are some very good restaurants within walking distance. We had a small family reunion here and we mostly stayed in the hotel or walked to one of the many local restaurants. The breakfast buffet was good and there was an option to have an omelet prepared and brought to your table. We had a king size bed and it was very comfortable. Overall this hotel is a good place to stay.
My friend and I came to Virginia from New Jersey for a wedding. The wedding was at this hotel, so it was easier to just stay in the same hotel. It's a bit on the pricey side, but IMHO was worth it! Two huge beds, that were extremely comfy and a big bathroom. Their room service is fantastic and had a really pretty view of the fountains. Don't mind the mess that we started to make lol
When I arrived, I was not greeted as an elite member, I was not offered the usual water, or told anything about the concierge lounge or parking. I reminded them about my service animal, and the lady at the desk that evening, stated it was ok. When I arrived in my room, there were red and brown stains in the carpet, as well as hair on the walls in the restroom. The next day, I had a vomiting situation in my room, and cleaned it up myself. There was no vomit present anywhere on the carpet or in the room, however, I did request deodorizer from the housekeeping staff due to obvious reasons. I then received a call from the front office manager, Amanda (---), stating that I was being charged a $250 steam cleaning fee for the entire room, because she spoke to the housekeeping lady that entered my room and the housekeeping supervisor, and they both stated that my service animal vomited on the carpet, and it needs to be steam cleaned. I requested to speak to the GM, Mark (---), who stated the same thing, and upheld the decision. On my way out of the room, both housekeeping personnel previously mentioned were in the hallway, so I asked about the details and nature of the conversation. Antoneta, who entered my room, stated that she never spoke to anyone at all, and the housekeeping supervisor stated that she never said anything about a service animal, never entered my room, and never mentioned if steam cleaning was needed, because she hadn't even seen anything. I contacted Marriott customer service, and am also going to reach out to Crestline Hotels, and whomever else I need to reach out to, and file a dispute with my bank, so that they cant take this unauthorized, wrongful charge. I have never been so disregarded by any other hotel chain before. I would certainly not recommend this property at all.
I stayed here for the DAV Fall Conference 2017. Beautiful hotel, friendly staff and the bed was very comfortable--I love it! Toya was awesome; she was knowledgeable and provided great customer service--I want to recognize her for being a big help to me! Toya made me feel like a part of the Marriott Family--Thank you!!! Convenient for family and business I needed to take care of to start 2017, this hotel is in a Great location with excellent staff. I enjoyed the convenience of being near the Newport News Williamsburg International Airport and the vibe and great restaurants of Oyster Point. At the time of my arrival the hotel still had its Christmas decorations delighting guests. The rooms and staff were quite accommodating, a parking structured garage is adjacent but be careful if you are Arriving late at night. The business center, cafe (Great breakfast!) And conference facilities are among the best on the Peninsula.
My husband and I met family for a homecoming and were pleased by the activities in and around the hotel. The staff were pleasant from the reservation desk to the bar (especially Chris Izzard). We were able to walk around the town center and dine at a few restaurants within a 5 minute stroll. We will definitely make reservations next year to stay in October for a few days.
We stayed here for the DAV 5K. Beautiful hotel, friendly staff. Clean, the bed was very comfortable. Several restaurants within walking distance as well as a coffee shop and a movie theater. Free parking. Very close and quaint area for shopping and taking a stroll. Will definitely go back.
This was a huge disappointment. The front staff is as unfriendly and abrupt as in some of the other reviews, except for trainee Autumn. The hotel is poorly appointed and old. Initially we were given an accessible room. The room had very old and battered furniture. The shower had no holder for soap, shampoo etc. and there was hardly any water coming out of the shower head. The second room was better but very basically appointed. I had forgotten my slippers and asked for a pair. The receptionist didn't seem to even know what I was talking about. I will not go back and I am glad that my experience with other Marriott hotels has always enormously better than this.
