Courtyard by Marriott Hampton

This hotel was perfect as it was centrally located. You are down the street from the Hampton coliseum. You are also near the town center (with many options for food and shopping), Mercury Blvd also has other various places such as outback, chili’s, ihop, and a few others to eat at. You are also right by interstate 64. So it’s easy access to jump on and get to other areas. The hotel itself was cool. First off, you only get one free breakfast with your room. So if you have multiple people, they have to pay. Breakfast is okay. It’s not a buffet or anything. The options are breakfast pasty/fruit-n-yogurt bowl; breakfast burrito (this is big enough to split between two or even three); açaí bowl; eggs your way; classic oatmeal (you can try the vanilla oatmeal as well) or breakfast sandwich. You also get a choice of beverage: water, juice, soda, milk, or tall Starbucks drip coffee or tea. You can not choose a specialty Starbucks drink, naked juice or alcohol. The hours of the bistro is only for breakfast and dinner. They are closed by 9:30 Monday to Friday and 10:30 on the weekend. They open back up at 5. The bar is very basic. They have instructions on how to make drinks so they are a limited. Dinner menu isn’t bad just typical hotel prices for small amount of food. They do have a pool and a gym. I didn’t use either but I did see people laying out by the pool. Some rooms face the pool area. The rooms also have balconies. The rooms were fine outside of the following. They do not have a microwave or safe in the room. For either you have to go to the front area. This wasn’t a deal breaker for the hotel but definitely an annoyance because it required going to the front when you just wanted to heat up your leftovers in peace and having to put on proper attire. I normally don’t bother with the shampoo/conditioner or body wash provided but they had shampoo and conditioner by Paul Mitchell with the Tea Tree in them. The shampoo was amazing. The conditioner was the soothing feeling that was needed afterwards. Now the body wash, it was lemon sage! I was out looking for this body wash. It smelled amazing as well. Parking wasn’t too bad depending on the side you parked on. For me, after the construction crew was gone most days or the random buses that appeared and parked across spots, there were spots left over. And last but not least....The staff...everyone was nice and very accommodating from check in to checkout. They remember you when you do come in for meals or just entering the building. Always greeting you with a smile. I did feel like some were there for like 24hrs but I never really questioned them on that level as they were alert and happy to help as needed. Good hotel and if needed will stay there again.

While this hotel seems nice on first impression. After staying here a week for a business trip, my opinion quickly changed. First, the carpet in my room was sticky and late at night ants could be visualized crawling in the dresser. They did respond and clean the carpet and leave me a note and a cute candy bar, The Bistro restaurant was over priced and not a lot of choices. I requested housekeeping on 2 occasions and they never showed. Outside of cleaning the carpet I could not get service. The manager on duty offered a free breakfast for no service, but I would be leaving prior to breakfast availability. The smell of pot wreaked throughout the floor I was staying on. Clerks stated multiple times " high crime area".

As a quick stay, this was pleasant. I arrived around 9 pm on a Thursday evening and left on Saturday morning. My late check in was good with Akeedia (love the name). The lobby was nicely decorated for the holidays and very cozy to sit and chat with my new friends I met. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The hotel is in a great location - close to shopping and many restaurants. Plus, within walking distance to the Coliseum where you can catch great entertainers and the annual Hampton Jazz Festival. It was great being back in the city I had my first apartment in the 80s.

First time at this Courtyard as I normally stay up the road or in City Center at Newport News. And, it was very good. Others have covered the accommodations which is a basic hotel room. My room had a balcony overlooking the courtyard which has an inviting outside seating area nicely lit with cafe lights. Location is within walking distance to a village type shopping mall with the great Park Lane pub. The surprise is the Bistro food. Not a large selection of food and beer but what they had was very good. I had an oatmeal breakfast on my last of a 3 day stay. Other items are better than the breakfast at the Embassy Suites. Service was fast and friendly. Even at 6am!

Easy on/off interstate I-64. Back way onto I-664 to use Monitor Merrimack tunnel. Good sized room with small fridge. Coffee (one packet for 1 cup) decaf and regular. Additional packets free. Easy pool access. Recommend room numbers in high 120's to low 130's - no elevator, right next to pool and door to parking. Ice machine just down the hall. Not so nice, no cheap breakfast. Golden Corral and McDonald's almost in walking distance. Wal*Mart is less than a mile away. Very close to Hampton Convention center and Hampton Colosseum. To get on I-664 south, turn right out of the hotel toward Power Plant Parkway. Entrance to interstate at the top of the bridge two miles down.

Standard room. Very neat and clean. Pleasant arrival check in and check out. Great location for the Coliseum or the convention center. Also near the Power Plant places to eat and shop. Getting around can be tricky so check your map before venturing out.

After my last experience at another Hampton in the same area I wasn't sure if I'd given up on Courtyards all together, but my weekend here did not disappoint. The room was clean, the beds were comfy and the view from my room was nice. We had a balcony that overlooked the pool. The location is in a good area as well with lots of stores around. After this stay I am not giving up on courtyards. Didn't hurt that I was able to use my points for my whole stay either

Hotel room clean and pretty standard. The staff was fabulous. They went far above my expectation. Keith and Toney were outstanding. I had to leave at 4 am and Keith made coffee just for me. When I ask Toney for a vase for some fresh flowers she delivered. I will return to this hotel if I am back in area due to great staff.

Centrally located to businesses and restaurants. Rooms were clean and and nice and roomy . Service was friendly . Plenty of free parking . All of the standard things you look for . Being an elite member no explanation of the derives available to me???? Never seen that before . But amok place to stay at areasobable price

Very good hotel and the area is nice. There is plenty of restaurants and attractions really close to the hotel. Not walking distance to these locations but still close. Great breakfast, gym, pool area and the happy hour evenings. One block from the convention center. Awesome place for activities.
