I can’t believe this hotel added a cost (tax) for the hotel safe that I didn’t request…..the safe is a part of the room furniture items. The night manager was away from the desk, not on the property, for over 40 minutes and it wasn't even 9 PM.

The night staff is undermanned. The front desk went uncovered for approximately 20 minutes and it wasn't even 9 pm. Due to the heat (temperature) in the Hampton, Virginia area during the week of 25 to 27 July - the hotel failed to keep ice water available for customers coming and going. Finally, Best Western attempted to add a hidden charge to the my billing. I was being charged for the room safe.....I've never used a room safe within a hotel and after a major News report showing how the room safe really isn't safe, why would anyone use one. A $1 charge daily doesn't seem a lot, but when you count number of rooms within the facility that's booked it could be $72 to $92 a night or $360 to $460 over a five days. Shame Shame Shame Best Western.

Has all the basics one could need. Really good location for an event i attended.

If your just looking for a questionable clean bed and shower this will do.

In general fine good location but room and floors above lobby were not even close to being maintained well numerous code violations and overall maintenance was horrible

The staff, from the reception area to housekeeping, was excellent. The room, however, left a lot to be desired. The air conditioning unit made noise and didn't cool. I check the filters in the units and they were completely clogged. The window had hand and finger prints smeared all over it, and the in-room coffee service had no regular coffee. There was a light out over the bathroom sink as well. I brought these items to the attention of the Front Desk, and they were taken care of. But, in my opinion, these are normal service items and should have been checked between guests.

Hotel was fine. Areas of the room are old and crumbling. The staff was very friendly.

I was fortunate to stay here during the Hampton Jazz Festival and it was a awesome experience. I will stay at this hotel everytime I visit that area!!!

Very nice hotel, clean and close to everything. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely pool and excellent free breakfast. Would recommend this hotel and it will be my go to hotel next time I am in the area.

A very nice hotel, clean rooms, friendly staff and all around comfortable experience.

Staff is friendly and rooms are spacious but... the lobby and elevator could use some renovations. I also found that the rooms had a bit of a dusty smell. The carpet could be cleaner. Overall not bad for the price if the stay is short.

My room was clean and very comfortable. I enjoyed a good night's rest for four nights. All the front desk associates were very friendly and greeted each time you came in the lobby. There was a sign that the hotel was under renovations and I hope they would expand the breakfast area. There wasn't much room to move around between the tables and the counter area where the food was located. The variety of breakfast foods was good.

I would never stay here again. Cleanliness was subpar. They are going through a remodeling. Perhaps it will be better. I have no plans to find out.

Clean room after we got reassigned. First try we were sent to a room with talcum powder on the already used bed, clothes hangers and plastic bags strewn around - obviously somebody in this room already!! Staff very friendly and helpful - room was clean and comfortable once it was only ours. Breakfast ends very early so not good for overnight fishers who only got to bed at 4 am - it ends at 9 am on weekends. Worth the money and felt safe.

Overall good experience for the price. Room was clean. The only problem was that I reserved a King size room, but was offered 2-Queen-bed room. Had to deal with the front desk to move us to a different floor. No A/C in the lobby.

This is an average hotel in a good location near the Convention center- it was being redone and was noisy as a result- The staff was sullen and uncommunicative. Breakfast was average. Nothing to recommend the place nor anything major to complain about. Prices were the best in the area.

This hotel wa average, at best. All the other post about the hotel being outdated are correct. This was right for what I needed it for. The last night of my stay was a Friday night and it seems that the party crowd came in. Saturday morning when I went to check out, it smelled like a skunk had died in the hallway. The crowd was noisy until about midnight, but then it died down.

I was just looking for a place to getaway from everything for a while and I have to say I couldn't have picked a better place. The room was clean. The area was quiet and centrally located to everything. All in all I would book this place again.

Walking into the hotel, I realized it was an older hotel in need of either a remodel job or possibly new management that would just dress things up. First impressions: the ceiling tiles in the lobby are sagging, the ice machine behind the front desk has all of the wires and pipes visible and the lobby area just really needs some TLC to dress it up and make you feel like you're in a clean place. I got in the elevator. It has a glass window looking outside... only the glass is all permanently fogged up and the carpet on the floor is loose. I got to the room and the room appeared very clean, but still dated. The room had a refrigerator and microwave which was nice. The next morning, we went downstairs for breakfast. The breakfast is just okay, but fairly typical for this class of hotel. My wife needed to use the restroom in the lobby and when she came out, she said that the restroom looked clean, but that the toilet paper was stacked on the floor... oooowh! Would I stay here again? Possibly. Do I think that it would take very little money to change the first impression of someone coming in? Absolutely! If the lobby were dressed up a little, it would have made me feel like I was in a clean place (and that's really all I care about) and I would have given it 5 stars. When I see someone let their lobby go downhill (and their elevator), I assume that they let everything go by the wayside including how they clean. C'mon management/owner... take some pride in your establishment!

Staff was very helpful and courteous. The breakfast in the morning is a nice plus, great assortment of typical continental breakfast fare. Room was adequate for a couple days and overall comfortable.
