Waldorf Astoria New York

The hotel is beautiful and our stay was fine and overall trip to New York was amazing. The Waldorf-Astoria is in a very central location. I was disappointed in the desk staff and the concierge. It was if they couldn't be "bothered". Encouraged to have the breakfast buffet, there was no mention of price. That should have been a flag - with a 25% discount two people was $93. Yes, inline with the hotel, but it would have been nice to know. Also, no in-room coffee or in lobby. Finally arranged a late check out for 1:00 yet was still locked out of our room. Again, lots of good things at this hotel, but it's definitely not the Ritz!

Very noise heater. not compatible with a hotel like this

Great hotel. Excellent staff. I would definitely highly recommend this hotel to others.

Love, love, love this place. We had mixed emotions on stay IU ng knowing that it was closed SD omg next month. We were worried about the service and if as anyone would really care that we were there. That attitude was quickly changed as soon as we arrived. From that moment on everyone was wonderful. Sad to see the history change but can't wait to return in three years to see the all new WA. Thank you!

Some of the images don't match what you actually pay for. I asked to switch my room based on what I thought I was getting and my room was downgraded.

Hotel is closing for renovations - staff has lost focus!

Every good beautiful hotel, clean and good.

All the service people at the various service desks in the lobby were very helpful and kind. Beautiful historical property everyone should see. Close walking distance to most anything you want to see. Great trip. Should have stayed longer.

Great reception from the staff. The internet connection was poor at best despite two attempts by the tech rep to fix it. Disconnected the phone to fix the internet but neither worked. That took a while to fix. The phone was fixed but the internet connection remained poor throughout my stay. One would think that The Waldorf could figure something out to fix the internet. Otherwise the Hotel has a great location and dinner at the Bull and Bear was excellent as expected.

Ok. I will. Great old hotel, great location, typical NYC service i.e. Good enough. Long line to check in/out.

The hotel room was crummy, but the hotel lobby is lovely and location is excellent!

The Waldorf is a wonderful property in need of investment. The internet is too slow to use for business. Years ago I stayed in the Towers and had a lovely luxurious room that was well maintained. The room I had using Orbitz was is serious need of refurbishments. While the bones were there, the carpet was pulled up by the bathroom, the bathroom door has been painted with a roller that dripped paint and the door looked like it had had dry rot that had been painted over. The wall paper was beginning to peal in certain spots. The heating and air conditioning unit looked like it had been installed after the fact as if it were a low end Best Western hotel on some highway. Service was non existent when I dinned alone for dinner in the lobby resturant. The cook at the egg station for breakfast was rude. I really miss the old Waldorf which set the standard in many ways...hopefully money will be put back in because it should really be a great hotel.

The good-You walk in and you are back on the Great Gatsby set. The rich art deco details are everywhere, from elevator doors (gorgeous) , to high ceilings, to every detail that is still there, and is still in the good shape, the saying they don't make them like the used to applies here. 2 bars in the lobby still look great (for its age and wear), give you the old world feel, with the setup, and black and white pictures of old stars and VIPs. Check-in didn't take too long, the desk attendant was pleasant and noticed we have kids and gave us coloring books, which was a nice gesture. We got a great big room (18x15) on the 6th floor with a great view of Mutual of America building and Lexington Ave. The room was surprisingly very quiet. The bathroom for a NYC hotel was also big (5.5x11). I enjoyed wearing the hotel bathrobes, nice and clean. We valet parked in the building and it was easy and nice. We got 2 complimentary drinks at hotel facility of choice, it was again very nice and welcoming gesture. The not so good-The hotel is part of a greater chain now, and they are letting it run on its name and old reputation. The lobby needs major dusting, the doorman and the barman needs to pay a little bit more attention to the guests, the room although big, needs major upgrades or a renovation, including beds. The bathroom was clean but old. The same goes for the hall way, old looking and smelly, again you expect a bit more with the grand old hotel like this. All in all a good stay

Rooms are extremely old and smelly..for price u pay, ur getting motel 6 room

Stayed 4 nights for my daughters 21st birthday. What a great stay not a negative thing to say! Staff was so nice and gave my daughter a special gift for her birthday!

Hotel was very nice, staff was nice. All very friendly and helpful. The only problem we had was that it was 100 degree weather and there was no pool. I mean for the money you pay to stay there, you would think there'd be a pool. I just thank goodness we didn't have our son with us. We would've had to stay in our room the nature time had he been with us. But, overall it was a great stay. Sadly though we won't be staying there again. We do require a pool.

Was such a great experience. I will be sad to des it change!

We loved the regal feel of the historical hotel, yet the modern business of the area.

Stayed for five days and found it convenient to the things we wanted to do in the city.

an older hotel to stay in but just knowing the history of this place brings much excitement
