I don’t usually take the time to write a negative review, but I felt I needed to warn future guests, especially about how loud the property can be.
The staff was kind, but getting service was surprisingly difficult. I later learned that if housekeeping can’t enter the room in the morning because guests are still inside, it gets marked as “service refused.” I was never told I needed to inform the front desk to receive service in the afternoon. Once I finally understood this, I let the front desk know on the fourth day of my stay (after only having my room cleaned once) and even though they assured me it would be taken care of, I returned to find it hadn’t been done.
Still, that wasn’t nearly as problematic as the extreme noise at night. There’s a cantina on 48th Street, and if your room faces that side of the building, you simply will not be able to sleep on weekend nights. The volume wasn’t just loud; the bass was so strong that even the room’s noise-cancellation features were useless. The noise would start around 10 p.m. and continue until about 4 a.m.
I will mention the front desk staff were able to reimburse me the $45 hotel daily fee due to the inconvenience, however, not being able to sleep can make a stay miserable.
I don’t think most people will have major issues with housekeeping, my family just tends to use the room until late morning or early afternoon, but the noise situation was unbearable. Unfortunately, because of that, I won’t be returning.
