Overall, the hotel was nice. Room was in good condition, spacious, and clean. Really only complaint was the noise. There is a club right across the side street who had an extremely loud dance party until 4 am on Saturday night. I realize this is NYC and it was Halloween weekend, and this wouldn’t have been a big deal except that my daughter had to be up at 5 am to catch the ferry to Staten Island to run the NYC marathon. I did go down to front desk and complain at 2:30 am and asked for ear plugs. I know this wasn’t exactly in the hotel’s control but knowing it was marathon weekend, would have been considerate of hotel to ask if anyone was running and maybe not put them in room on side of the hotel right next to the club that the people at front desk later admitted that this club is that loud every single weekend. The windows seem to provide zero sound proofing. I could actually hear a woman at the club clear as day yelling, “have your ID’s out! Ladies in this line, guys over here!” And then the hotel charges a resort fee of $45/night? Yeah, poor form.
The hotel is not bad but if you need to get sleep, don’t stay here or at least not on the side of hotel directly across from the club, HK Hall/Rooftop Cantina. You won’t sleep at all. Luckily my daughter is 19 and was able to run the marathon on pure adrenaline (zero sleep).
