The bed was fine. The room was fine. But the decor and renovations were terrible. There were tiles falling off the wall in the bathroom, wallpaper was peeling off the walls, the windows were so old that they barely closed shut and were single pane, and the curtains were beyond needing an update. The service was fine... and the hotel wasn't loud, but we were also there during a quiet time. As well, this hotel is very close to the train tracks, and since the windows are so thin, we could hear it all night long.
Denny’s restaurant and a car rental business attached to the hotel is super convenient Staff very nice at all places. WiFi internet is very unreliable and spotty. Another guest was smoking in their room across from mine so it helped to have an extra blanket from the closet to use to block the door. Kohler shower head is nice. Mattress hurt our backs (too soft). Pillows were very nice. The room was not renovated as shown in website photographs; night stand not designed for today’s electronics to be plugged in Pigeons make noise all morning and day outside the window. Window faced a major freeway so traffic is noisy.
This hotel has some of the best staff ive ever got to deal with. They were very professional, accomodating, pleasant, and empethedic. After long hours of wait from our previous reservation n very unprofessional gm at the holiday inn with the waterslides. The sandman hotel pleasantly welcomed my family n i into their establishment stress and hassell free. As well they were quite sufficient in allowing me to extend my stay as much as needed. A huge ty to crystal mark and thomas. I would recommend this establishment for others.
This is by far the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in! Checked into the room and there were large BUGS crawling around the window, on the walls and ceiling! Dead and live flies everywhere. DUST and dirt on all surfaces. TOE NAILS in carpet by the bed. PUBIC HAIR on carpet and bathroom floor. Toilet leaked onto floor when flushed. Coffee cups were filthy inside. Microwave had food splattered all over inside. Group of 5 guys partied into the night across the hall. Heard a "cooing" sound in the room, looked out the window and there were several pigeons nesting on the ledge of the window with "piles" of poop against the window. Asked to be moved to another room, it was just as bad.
We checked in on Friday Sept8. Check in went smoothly and off we went to our room. I went to open the drapes and found over 50 dead flies on the carpet. Called the front desk , we were told to pack and were moved to another room. All good till the evening when our bathroom starts smelling like pot. I assume it was coming from other rooms. I then go to have a shower and notice water rising in the tub. Cut my shower short so the tub didnt over flow. Called down and was told that it was an old building. My guess is that the drain was full of hair. Email to the Sandman group has gone unanswered.
We stayed at the sandman lethbridge July 29-30 2017. First impression? The lady at the front desk was very friendly and told us everything we needed to know, got us on our way to our room quickly, and that deserves to be mentioned. Good job on her part and much appreciated! Sadly, the front desk lady was about the only good part of our stay. To start off I have to say,for the cost of this room,my expectations were not at all inflated. However,I've stayed at many hotels that cost roughly the same and it's been a better experience for sure. Positives: the people at the Dennys restaurant in this hotel were very nice,we got our breakfast there very quickly and it was a good experience. I recommend having breakfast at Denny's it was fine. : the price was ok. The room was basic, but somewhat clean. The negatives: Beds are rock hard! Like trying to sleep on a slab of granite. By far the worst sleep I've had in years,in fact I didn't sleep much at all. : the bathroom was seriously run down, kinda moldy in the shower, peeling wallpaper, and just generally pretty uninviting. The back door steps are covered in gross cigarette butt debris and god knows what else....it actually stinks. True story. Also, though I don't personally need accessible features I am pretty sure there were handicap parking spaces but no ramp at the back entrance. Just saying. Don't stay here unless you are desperate to get out of the rain on a dark and gloomy night and only have a hundred bucks. That's my honest opinion.
A number of us went to the hotel because of a funeral... we were welcomed and treated so well. The rooms were great, they kept us all together and went above and beyond in catering to our needs. Not least giving us a compassionate rate. Thank you for making a difficult time easier
June 3 we stayed on the 9 floor in a room with an enormous king sized bed with two very comfy armchairs, lots of floor space and a spacious clean bathroom. The check in was seamless and the front desk was quick and very efficient as well as really friendly. Our room was spotless, and the coffee/ tea carafe was well stocked. The room has a small refrigerator and a micro wave, television (that worked well) air conditioning and was very quiet. The bed was super comfortable with a selection of different sized pillows and enormous!! The cost was 115.00 including the taxes and there is a lounge and Denny's lobby floor. I would stay here again for sure!
I would not recommend the Sandman Hotel in Lethbridge, The rooms were not clean when we got there, we had to ask the front desk for soap and shampoo as there was none in our room. The staff hand out rooms keys to anyone to any room without question. Two boys went down at different times and got keys to our room --i did know them but the staff did not know that. All they did was go down to the front desk and ask for Keys and they were given keys no questions asked. The floor in the bathroom the grout was coming out so after a shower i got into bed and all the tile grout that stuck to my feet ended up in my bed. Our bathtub was not clean at all. The rooms do need an update the drawers in our room were crooked.
Had a great stay here at the Sandman - they even had a room with a fridge available for us (forgot to request when booking). Slept well, and their hospitality staff were very good! Had a little mishap with the breaker (microwave and blow dryer operating at the same time isn't a great idea), but they fixed it very quickly! Pool was closed while we were there, but we weren't interested in that anyway.
