We stayed at this hotel during our recent trip to Kansas City, we were there attending the NASCAR race. The employees that we met were all very friendly and helpful. The entire facility, including our room, was very clean and well maintained. The complimentary breakfast was much better than what we have had at other hotels recently - fresh fruit, plenty of cereal choices, pastries, muffins, a waffle maker, and hot breakfast food items. We were impressed that even in the small room we had, there was a usable kitchen complete with a full size refrigerator, electric stove, microwave and dishwasher. The beds were comfortable, and we both got a great night's sleep. Our only problem, and this was kind of a big one, was the parking lot. With this hotel being in such a great location, it should be no surprise to anyone that it would be sold out on a regular basis. I'm not exactly sure if they were sold out or not when we were there, but when we returned to the hotel in the evening, there was absolutely no place to park in the lot. There were a large number of construction trailers taking up several of the spaces. There was a couple of boats taking up spaces as well. The two spaces that were open were so tight that anyone with an SUV would have no way to park there. We spoke with another couple the next morning and they told us their parking space was so tight that they had to crawl out of the hatchback of their car just to get out. We ended up parking on a street out in front of the hotel, which luckily was a dead end so there wasn't much traffic in or around there. Although we enjoyed our stay in the facility, I'm not sure whether we would stay there again or not. Having a safe place to park is kind of a priority for us....if we are guests in the hotel we should be able to have a spot in the customer parking lot, not on some side street.
I think this could be a nice hotel if the staff was a little more on top of things. My husband stayed there for 3 weeks in April, and is currently on his last week of another 3 week stay. The kids and I went up to visit and were a little disappointed. My main complaint is the cleaning service. Right now his trash under the counter hasn't been taken out for a week! While we were there we ran out of toilet paper and it wasn't replaced. It seems like house cleaning does the bare minimum they can get by with. I know he is really frustrated with it right now since he is still there. Also, the breakfast was really lacking while we were there. The Staybridge in Edmond, Oklahoma always had the best breakfast so we were thinking it would be the same. Not true. All in all I wouldn't make a special reservation to stay there if we were in the area for pleasure. It is a beautiful hotel however and the outside is really nice with the pool and lounging areas in the back.
We stayed on Satuday night Arpitl 1, 2017, we asked for handicapped room for my husband is disabled and cannot walk far. They put us on second floor as far away from elevator as physically possible. The light bulb was out on desk lamp, there was no toilet paper and roll was out my morning, no facial tissues at all. The breakfast was terrible. There was an employees child monopolizing the breakfast room, running in to patrons and ignoring everybody while talking on phone while walking in breakfast area, which is full of tables, chairs and people. My husband and I had stayed in Staybridges before, and they were great. We do not know what happened here.
We were new to this type of long term stay place. Several things could have been better--the maid service was sporadic , the room was reasonably clean but the worst thing as the tiny trashcans, in a room with a kitchen area.
The person at the front desk for check in was very friendly. We had a dog with us and had no problems in that respect. The room was good size and as advertised. My main issue with the hotel was the cleanliness of the room (specifically the bathroom.) There was black mold around the tub, hair on the wall in the tub, the shower curtain was dirty on the back side and there was what appeared to be toothpaste on the frame of the mirror just above the sink. Excluding the mold everything could have been corrected with a good wipedown and laundering the shower curtain. A little attention to detail while cleaning would have gone a long way.
This hotel is very nice and inviting. The lobby is very comfortable and give the feeling of being home. Staff is great. Rooms are clean and comfortable and with modern appliances The location is ok no food in walking distance. Great place to stay
We stayed here for one night after a long day of traveling. We had been looking for a nice, safe looking hotel for at least an hour before and were exhausted and aggravated. The second I walked into this hotel, the guy working at the front desk (I think his name was Danny?) was cheerful and helpful and made the horrible last hour go away. The rate was low for such a nice hotel with interior rooms. I was traveling with my small dog which they gladly accepted but they pet fee was a little high at $20 per night... at least in my opinion that's a little high compared to the $10-$15 I'd been paying at other hotels. The rooms were nice, clean, spacious, and had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The free breakfast was GREAT - warm food including sausage and a make it yourself waffle station. I'll definitely stay at this hotel / location again should my travels ever bring me back to the area.
We recently stayed here for 2 nights while in town for a Royals game. The location is perfect. Near lots of shops and restaurants. Pool area was nice and breakfast had plenty of variety. The bedroom is separated from the rest of the suite by a door. Our 2 boys made it fine on the sofa bed. When we checked in there was a sign that said housekeeping wasn't provided on the weekends unless specially requested before 5 on Friday evening. Since we checked in after 5 I assumed this wasn't an option for us. We were pleasantly surprised when we got back to our room Saturday after spending the day out to find that our bed was made and we had fresh towels! I was very excited about that. When we stay in a hotel, daily housekeeping is something I expect. My only complaint is that our room smelled like cigarette smoke.
The location is good, in a somewhat quiet location near Independence Center and close to major access roads. This extended stay IHG property offers a complimentary light dinner at least 3 nights a week (Tue-Thur). Staff was accommodating and provided roll-out beds. Thanks.
If your looking for a really cool down to earth hotel where you can actually sit back and relax, then this is the place to go. My favorite part is all the extra space in the rooms that give me my space for comfort. Nice staff as well, overall very great small hotel.
