We stayed here for 3 nights and will definitely stay here again. From check in thru check out this stay was great. The staff was friendly, efficient, welcoming and that's the entire staff working Monday thru Thursday. The suite was clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were hot, plentiful and good. The evening social was good food, wine and beer or soft drinks. Enough food was available for the entire 2 hours. No one felt rushed or left out. This Staybridge was full and had a remodel going on in the 3rd floor. But it was still clean, still comfortable. The staff was always available, always friendly and made you feel welcome. Great place and wonderful people.
My wife and I stayed at this hotel on a trip to Kansas City. It is a short and easy 15 minute ride into the city. The front desk staff were excellent. They treated us like family. We did encounter a few significant issues I need to address for other travelers and hotel management. 1. Ensure staff is available and working the breakfast area. Area ran out of food, coffee, and sugar and no one was available for over 30 minutes to fix the situation. The sugar was out for over 90 minutes and never was found. The hotel was sold out so instead of waiting with all the upset guests my wife and I checked out and went to a local restaurant to eat 2. This is a pet friendly hotel and the couch confirmed this. There were what appeared to be huge pet stains on the fabric. Our room also had no shower curtain, I would recommend the housekeeping staff do a better job of cleaning the furniture and ensure rooms are properly prepared for guests.
They try to think of everything you may need. Friendly staff at all times. Entering the room, the A/C was already turned on, extra blanket in the closet, cookware in the kitchen area and a binder with information about the area such as; shopping, eating, entertaining, worshiping, banking and many more. The room came with a DVD player which we were able to sign out some movies, free of charge, at the front desk. The bed was very comfortable and clean. Overall it was a great experience staying at this hotel.
Stayed here for visit to Truman Library, museum, home and downtown Independence, Missouri. Enjoyed pleasant weather. Great pool, accommodations. Happy hours on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Great breakfast buffet every day. Near shopping, interstate, KC Royals and Chiefs stadiums.
I travel throughout the U.S for work and stay in many hotels for weeks at a time. My first impression of this hotel is my lasting impression of this hotel. Which...IS NOT GOOD! This hotel obviously is seriously staff challenged especially in the housekeeping department and it shows. When I initially checked into my room on the 2nd floor the first thing I did was check the bed for cleanliness and bugs. Low and behold I pull the cover back and there was many many body hairs all over the sheets. It was obvious the sheets had not been changed after the previous guest checked out. Rather, a lazy housekeeper re made the bed "neatly" as if the linens had been changed. I immediately went down stairs and requested another room that the housekeeper who supposedly cleaned that room had not been assigned to. The overall cleanliness of the hotel (beyond surface areas) was questionable! Breakfast was/is awful!!! The oatmeal is never fully cooked (could still see the whole oat flakes stuck together like cement), and who eats sausage that's still gray colored from being undercooked??? They allow guest to bring their dogs into the dining area and not say a word to the guest when there is clearly a sign that states " No pets". And no, I'm not referring to the resident who owned the large poodle but rather other guest. Lastly, ( I could go on and on though) A lot of the staff need some moral support! I swear if they smiled and greeted the customer their faces would crack (smh). I really would not recommend this hotel to anyone until they "get it together"!
My daughter and I were in KC for a softball tournament and elected to stay at Staybridge, Independence due to a previous stay there that we'd really enjoyed. Upon arrival we did not check the sheets on our bed despite another teammate staying at the same hotel having found a small blood spot on their flat sheet (had to be a fluke, right?). After returning to our room from the fields the second day my daughter wanted to take a nap, pulled back the sheets to lie down, and discovered two HUGE dried spots of blood, each as big as my hand that had soaked all the way through the mattress pad underneath. There was no possible way they could have been left by my daughter or myself. I immediately went down to the desk and asked the lady who was standing there if she could please come to my room so I could show her something. She said no, but she'd send a housekeeper. The housekeeper manager came, and called to another housekeeper, Terri to come change our bedding. Terri was completely grossed out and profusely apologetic, telling me the housekeeper that had been in charge of cleaning our friend's room had been fired and that she probably had done our room too. That was it. No follow up from a manager, no apology, no nothing. On top of that we received ZERO housekeeping services for the remainder of our stay. Our bed was never made, we never got clean towels, and our trash was never taken out. I made a point to be certain our do not disturb sign was off our door when we left every morning, so they can't possibly say that's the reason it didn't get done. I even asked the housekeeper that was working in our hall to service our room as we were heading to the fields one day and we came back to a few towels thrown in the bathroom, but the bed hadn't been made and trash hadn't been taken out. Maybe they were mad their friend got fired for not doing her job? I don't know. Upon checkout I received a bill under my door for the entire amount of our stay which upset me as our friends who had also found a teeny blood spot on their sheets (which was nowhere near as bad as ours) had received s personal call from the manager and a one night refund. And they hadn't even slept in their bed! We'd slept in those puddles of blood and we didn't so much as get a "I'm sorry" from the manager. I went down to the desk to talk to her and was informed she was gone until Monday. Instead I talked to the assistant manager, Brooklyn. When I explained the situation her response was "Oh yes, Deana told me I might have to talk to you." WHAAAAAT?!?! So, they knew there was a situation, but instead of dealing with it were waiting to see if I'd leave and pay my bill without saying anything?! They ended up refunding one night of our stay which I accepted in the moment, fully intending to follow up with upper management as that was completely unacceptable to me but seemed to be as much as the management on duty was willing to do. No sense in making a scene. Upon our arrival home I filled out the customer service concern form on the IGH website and got a message saying someone would follow up within 48 hours. It is now a week later and I still haven't received a call. Unacceptable Staybridge! You've lost a loyal customer.
I booked my trip several months in advance. Called 2 days before on phone to verify reservation. Checked in at 10pm and they gave my room away. Downgraded my room from a king to a queen size and put me on the third floor. Night shift said I have to speak to day shift because there is nothing they could do the hotel was booked. It was too late at night to change hotels after driving 15 hours. Day shift manager stated "it is the hotels policy that if someone requests a room, and none are available, the hotel will take a random reserved room, delete your reservation and downgrade your room because it's first come first serve at this hotel.". I stay at Staybridge inns all over the United States, but never again. If one hotel is like this, it's probably their corporate policy. They did give me a $20.00 discount for my trouble because I regularly stay there. Pointless to make reservations at this hotel because they will sell your room if they get full.
The rooms are spacious, with a full size fridge and the bed was very comfy. the grounds were always clean and secure, the staff was always attentive and that goes for the maintenance staff too. Breakfast was great!
My family of 4 stayed in one of the 2 bedroom suites for a long weekend. The location worked well for us as we went to a Royals game (10min away), and also Worlds of Fun (20min away). The room was fantastic, plenty large, and the full kitchen lets you cook meals if you so desire. The free hot breakfast in the morning was a cut above in my opinion, and the kitchen staff worked fast to keep things stocked. We went with 2 teenage kids and used the pool for most of the day on the Friday we were there with no issues at all. Pool area gets plenty of sun and wasn't crowded. It was a great stay and would definitely stay there again if we are in the area.
We stayed at this hotel during our recent trip to Kansas City, we were there attending the NASCAR race. The employees that we met were all very friendly and helpful. The entire facility, including our room, was very clean and well maintained. The complimentary breakfast was much better than what we have had at other hotels recently - fresh fruit, plenty of cereal choices, pastries, muffins, a waffle maker, and hot breakfast food items. We were impressed that even in the small room we had, there was a usable kitchen complete with a full size refrigerator, electric stove, microwave and dishwasher. The beds were comfortable, and we both got a great night's sleep. Our only problem, and this was kind of a big one, was the parking lot. With this hotel being in such a great location, it should be no surprise to anyone that it would be sold out on a regular basis. I'm not exactly sure if they were sold out or not when we were there, but when we returned to the hotel in the evening, there was absolutely no place to park in the lot. There were a large number of construction trailers taking up several of the spaces. There was a couple of boats taking up spaces as well. The two spaces that were open were so tight that anyone with an SUV would have no way to park there. We spoke with another couple the next morning and they told us their parking space was so tight that they had to crawl out of the hatchback of their car just to get out. We ended up parking on a street out in front of the hotel, which luckily was a dead end so there wasn't much traffic in or around there. Although we enjoyed our stay in the facility, I'm not sure whether we would stay there again or not. Having a safe place to park is kind of a priority for us....if we are guests in the hotel we should be able to have a spot in the customer parking lot, not on some side street.
