Holiday Inn Charlotte Airport3.0 out of 5.0

We stayed at this Holiday Inn when we had an overnight layover in Charlotte. It’s a very short ride from the airport - less than 10 minutes. The free airport shuttle and all the snacks and beverages for sale in the lobby are very convenient for people on the go. The front desk staff were very helpful. The rooms are nicely decorated and well-maintained, as well as being reasonably priced.
Horrible choice, despite good ratings. Worse if you are not Delta flight crew. Thought UA dragging a man off was bad? Well, this shuttle driver threatened passengers that he/she wasn’t moving until people self-ejected, even after waiting twenty minutes. Unbelievably gross. Don’t book. Front desk sympathetic, but an HOUR and TWENTY wait to get to hotel isn’t acceptable, especially without Leonardo DiCaprio. Good: quiet rooms, desk staff understanding Bad: no breakfast, Ugly: over an hour wait for shuttle, being treated second class if not Delta flight crew.
We entered our room at midnight as we were put into the hotel because of missing a connecting flight. It took 4 hours for the room to get warm enough to sleep comfortably. The bathroom had absolutely no heat. We had to get up early to catch our flight. It was in the 20's when we got there and we were on the third floor.
I travel for work and spend 3-5 nights in hotels around the country and world per week. They are prearranged, and are typically your average (or below) business hotel. Airport hotels are often worrisome, because the ones I end up staying in are loud, outdated, less than immaculately clean, and the staff leaves much to be desired. But this hotel was different. One of the more comfortable hotels I’ve been at in quite some time! The rooms were spotless, the bed was very comfortable, and the staff was absolutely wonderful. Mr. Carl, the shuttle driver, kept us in stitches, and anyone would be fortunate to ride with him! The lobby is very welcoming as you enter, and your room will make you feel right at home. This is truly an exemplary airport property, and I recommend it to anyone!
It was a wonderful stay . I checked i late night. The front desk lady Mahogany what a nice name. She checked me in quickly let me no about breakfast . The room was very quiet and cleaned.Breakfast was awesome nice buffet. Shuttle driver was on time and quick. This was a nice stay i would stay again. Very convient to airport and the prie was very reasonable.
Traveling on business. Hotel is convenient to the airport with shuttle service. Hotel room is great size with a couch and throw pillows included. A pullout desk work space. Plenty of outlets for charging, must have outlet charging cables as there are no ports. Nice size fridge and individual Kurig coffee machine, no microwave. Big screen tv and a Super comfortable king size bed with 4 large king pillows. Extra blankets and pillows in closet. Iron and board also in closet. Hair dryer in bathroom with great scented bath products. Warm was room but a very dry heat, woke up 3 times during night just to drink water. My 2nd time staying here. Great for business travelers.
My car is parked at the Charlotte Airport approximately 2 months a year. That's a lot of parking fees. So I thought I'd try the Holiday Inn park and fly option. You pay for one night at a pretty good rate then pay $25 for each two weeks of parking while you're away. Very attentive staff very helpful excellent customer service. This hotel has been remodeled in 2014 everything is fresh and clean and upscale. I've stayed in the hotels in major Urban markets for several hundred dollars a night that were not as nice as these rooms. I enjoyed the bar setting but $9.50 for a 20 oz beer? Maybe that's the going rate but I'd suggest there's some brand transgression issues that might affect the overall good impression. I had arranged for a 6:30 a.m. transport to the airport days prior. When it was time to leave there was a large contingent of people and luggage waiting. The driver arrived and took us in a stretch van that was so undersized people were sitting on the floor. I thought that was odd because parked in front of the hotel was a much larger transport van that was sitting idle. A little more strategy and planning would be a strategic investment for the hotel.
Convenient hotel for traveler through CLT. Recently renovated, spacious and clean. Where the hotel fails miserably though was the temperature of the common areas particularly the restaurant. In the middle of winter the thermostat was set at 66 but it felt even colder. I overheard another patron say to the waitress, “at least it’s warmed up a bit as he walked though the restaurant.” One shouldn’t feel the need to wear outdoor gear when having breakfast but you need to at this Holiday Inn! Even for employees to have to work in a cold environment like this (the waitress was wearing a shirt) is unacceptable. It took three visits to the front desk to have maintenance come adjust the temperature. Overall a good hotel but a “cool” restaurant!
I was one of the several unlucky folks who got stuck in Charlotte due to the weather this past Friday night. My family booked me a hotel room at a hotel next door to the Holiday Inn but that hotel did not have a restaurant so I walked over to The Hub. The food and wine were both fantastic and reasonably priced but what made the experience was the wonderful attitudes of your staff. Kelly and Kristin were both so nice and pleasant to be around which was hard to find after a (very) long day in airports and on planes that weren't moving. Thanks for making the stay a little brighter!
The staff was efficient. The airport shuttle was print. Good coffee in the room. There is nothing nearby but the hotel does have an attached breakfast. It did open about 7 min late which was in issue since I was on a timeline.
