Hotel booking was very easy and check -in was quick and problem free. At check-out, I was able to do this from my room phone without going to the front desk and had no problems. Due to the location of our room, staff showed us a quicker way to get to our room by driving around the building to a particular entrace. This information put us much closer to our room, which saved us from walking a long distance through the hotel hallways.
I have stayed at the Millennium several times and find that while they are under a long-term renivation that is sorely needed, the staff make you feel like you are staying in their own home. They are very attentive and accommodating. The restaurant is a little overpriced, but the chef is excellent.
We arrived bedraggled after a long drive from Texas, but we were still treated with the utmost respect. The hotel was in the midst of an update, so we were in one of the older rooms that is in need of repair/update. I'm confident that this hotel will be a jewel of the Triangle once the update is complete.
Internet problems. I got absolutely NO service on my cell phone. couldn't make phone calls or access the internet. when I called the desk, they said they would send someone out to fix it. that was 8:40. at 9:20 I called again and they said they guy had been on break and now he would come. he NEVER came. there were other problems but this was the main one. I will never stay here again.
Stayed for weekend to visit son, lives near Duke. Good location to Duke. Staff is not happy to work there. We were the only ones in the lounge and restaurant both days. We had to find staff and then they acted as if they were bothered by us. Room was older but clean. They should close restaurant and lounge and just concentrate on the lodging.
We felt lucky to get a room during a Duke reunion weekend. It was a good choice for shared room. Everything was clean. Nice bar/lounge area. Very convenient to Duke activities.
This may have been a nice hotel back in the 80's, but needs a complete facelift. Pros - Location was very convenient to Duke University, only about 5 minutes away. - Room was clean Cons - Pretty large hotel, I was given a room far away from lobby. Took me about 5 minutes to get from lobby to my room, hotel was not that full during my visit...seems like I could have gotten a room closer to the front. - room had a couple of lamps not working - fitness room was not accessible during my stay. Looked like it only had a treadmill and lifecycle in there. - hallways and stairways had tattered carpet, poor upkeep.
I've stayed at the Millennium before, but for business related trips. This time, I decided to stay there as I traveled through NC. It was a nice, serene and familiar stay. I enjoyed it! As usual, staff was hospitable and friendly.
This hotel is overall pretty good and a nice value. It is very close and convenient to Duke University. The common areas and amenities are pretty good including the pool, gym, bar and restaurant. But the rooms are somewhat dated and the beds and pillows could be more comfortable. Also the shower curtains were inappropriate and did not keep shower water contained. There was water damage along the bathroom door suggesting this was a common problem.
Stays here while interviewing for a job in Durham. Great location, clean room, friendly staff.
average, only complaint was no fridge. good for a quick business trip.
We were in town for a Duke basketball game. This hotel was the perfect location. The hotel was nothing special and the hot tub was broken but the staff was very nice and they had great food on site.
I remember the Millenium being a nice place to stay a decade ago, but the quality has clearly lapsed. There was mold on the ceiling above the shower. The room was non-smoking, but smelled of cigarette smoke. On the Saturday I stayed there, there was a massive party, and a heavy pot scent reeked through the halls. Though the bones of the place are perfectly fine-- nice bar and pool, nice entrance and parking, and great location to Duke, it's not a hotel I'll be staying at again.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable.
hotel was clean, desk clerk was friendly and i would stay there again....
Average, nothing to write home about. Lobby and halls smell like mildew. Very nice staff.
The location just off Duke University campus and I85 is convenient and difficult to beat for visits to Duke or Duke Hospital but the hotel is very tired, behind the times and overpriced. While the room was generally comfortable, it lacked some basics like an in room fridge (which they did provide when we asked for a fee), decent room coffee and fast check out service. The housekeeping overnight was substandard (they forgot to replace the shampoo/conditioner and all the towels we had used. These issues might be ok for a much lower price point hotel but this was really substandard for us for hotels anywhere near this cost. This hotel could be great with a little investment and updating.
Old feeling. Paint chopped. Wallpaper coming off wall. Caulking in bathroom ruff and old. Staff was very good and helpfull. Lobby beautiful but rooms old.
Rooms are clean and silent. Breakfast OK. Close to Duke.
I needed a place to stay before participating in a recruiting event at Duke. I didn't pay close enough attention when quickly booking the room to see that they charge for wifi in the room, which was disappointing. I used the gym which consisted of 2 treadmills, a bike and a stair stepper. I had hoped for an elliptical but was otherwise satisfied. The rooms/hotel are a bit older, including the beds. The location cannot be beat though. Great spot!
