When you fly from Tampa to Portland International Airport (PDX), located off Interstate 205, you can explore a variety of both urban sights and nature parks. Getting to Tampa International Airport (TPA) is easy via taxi or SuperShuttle services. The flight should last about five and a half hours.
If you want to be in nature, you can visit Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area and hike up to the waterfall, see the tranquil Portland Japanese Garden or drive west on Interstate 84 to Multnomah Falls. For shopping, you can head to Nob Hill, which boasts great restaurants and locally owned shops. Another fun, hip area to visit is the Pearl District. At the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, you can take part in the interesting interactive exhibits. Entertainment includes the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall and the Gerding Theater at the Armory.
When you land at PDX, renting a vehicle at the airport offers you flexibility and convenience to get around the city on your own schedule and explore areas such as Chinatown and the Alberta Arts District. You will find the winter temperature to be about 35 degrees. The summer sees temperatures in the 70s. Among the numerous annual events in the area, you can enjoy the Portland Jazz Festival, the Portland Rose Festival, which draws millions each year, and the Oregon Brewers Fest, which features craft breweries from around the country.
