St Pete-Clearwater International Airport is used by low-cost carrier Allegiant. The airport is located nine miles north of downtown and handles around 1 million passengers each year. There are hire car facilities on site, and the airport is also decorated with artworks by local artists.

Tampa International Airport is across the bay from St Petersburg. This much larger airport welcomes flights from all over the world and is used by 20 million passengers each year. It has more than 30 bars and restaurants and dozens of shops. It takes less than half an hour to drive from Tampa to St Petersburg, just 16 miles away.

Sarasota-Bradenton International is a 45-minute drive south of St Petersburg. Eight car rental firms have a presence at the airport.
