It was clean, staff were friendly and helpful. They helped us arrange private transportation from their hotel to Civitavecchia which was great. The only downside - the beds are quite hard but it was manageable. In the end, I would stay there again.

Room size

As you do for most other properties, you need to mention the size of the room so there are no surprises for your guests. The room size, not including the bathroom and a very small entrance corridor, was less than 5 square meters. That's not a room; it is barely a jail cell. The limited space made it feel cramped and suffocating, while the tiny window didn't allow much natural light or fresh air to enter, further intensifying the sensation of being trapped in a confined space. It was an uncomfortable and unsettling experience due to the lack of space and the feeling of isolation from the outside world.

Breakfast was so so. Room was tiny. Frig didn't work. Shower sprayed water everywhere and hot water was sparce. Bed was uncomfortable and didn't fit on frame. Elevator was broken most of the time. Staff were nice and helpful.

Located literally a couple of mins walk from Ottaviano Metro Station and around a 10min walk to the Vatican, this is a small cozy hotel. We had read reviews that the area is not safe but we didn't find anything unsafe about the location. Its situated in a leafy main road, a few restaurants on the street but walk 2 mins and you have lots of restaurants and shops in a oarallel street. The staff were absolutely amazing. The room was a little small but perfect for us as we just went there to sleep at night. Its tremendous value for money, clean and superbly located.

Good location near to the subway station and easily walkable to the Vatican. Friendly service at reception and reasonable breakfast particularly as it was included in the price. Room slightly tired but fundamentally fine. Slightly off situation with our shower in that it was in the corner of the room.

Decent stay

The room was tidy and comfortable. There were a couple mosquitos in the room, but otherwise it was nice. The spa was not in working operation when I was there, so I was disappointed. Otherwise, it’s well connected to city center with bus and tram.

I didn't end up staying at San Relais, though I paid for the night in the room. I accidentally booked two rooms for the same night due to an issue with the hotels.com app and neither hotels.com nor San Relais would allow me to cancel the night. While true that I had selected the no cancellation reservation, I only made the second reservation after the app told me the room was no longer available. I was not impressed with the customer service and wouldn't recommend staying there in the future in case you had a similar problem.
