Pinewood Hotel Rome4.0 out of 5.0

We enjoyed our stay at Pinewood. In the pics the hotel looks a bit more polished than what it really is. However, hotel was clean. The staff was very helpful and informative. They helped us when our transportation to the airport cancelled last minute. The person at the reception got us a taxi in 7 minutes and we got to the airport right on time. They also sell the bus/metro tickets, which is quite helpful. The block where the hotel is okay. However, as soon as you walk 2 blocks down the road, you are in an area that looks where you can get mugged at anytime. There is excessive graffiti everywhere. The roads are not clean, trash bins overflowing, and not very pleasant smells. I would love to move to this hotel half a mile closer to Rome. The distance from the Vatican and the tourist sites is good. You walk 15 minutes down to the metro. Then you have to go down 3 flights of stairs to reach the metro. The Vatican is the third stop. So you get to the Vatican in about 30 minutes. Not bad at all. The ticket last 100 minutes after you use it the first time, if I'm not mistaken and it cost only 1.50 euros. But I wouldn't dare to walk that neighborhood at night if I was by myself or with ladies. I'm grateful I was with my husband, either way we only walked around the area once and that was enough not to do it again. The restaurant we ate that night, their card machine was not working, and we didn't have enough cash to pay for the meal. So we had to walk to an ATM to withdraw cash. The further you walk from the hotel, the worse it gets. Just a warning for those who are not used to being in an urban area. I'm from an urban area myself, however I was hoping not to have to see one during my vacation. Lol Other than that, the hotel was acceptable. One advice is to close the window in the bathroom, mosquitoes come in and bite at night. The decor was a bit outdated and the bed wasn't as comfortable. But the room was spacious. This was the smaller shower we encountered in our Eurotrip. You could hardly turn around in it. My husband barely fit, he is 6'3" and slender but he couldn't bend his arms that well inside the shower. You get what you paid for. If you don't mind the location, then I would recommend it. The hotel is just a mile away from the Vatican. A couple of miles from the train station and 30 minutes from the airport.
Great hotel although a bit out of city centre. It was clean and had an awesome buffet breakfast. Staff were helpful with ordering a taxi and telling us where we could dine nearby. We would certainly stay here again.
good value and nice staff. Pity about the beds. also the bar fridge didnt work I also spent a night at your sister hotel Raganelli at the end of my trip and must say the staff there was absolutley delightful. Again I had an issue with the beds and there wasa an issue with no hot water in the morning due to an electrical fault however the staff was very helpful and allowed me to have a shower in the afternoon after i had checked out and before my long trip home.
Stayed here for three nights in MAY 2017. Great quiet location. Close walk to bus, metro and cafes/stores (definitely use the Metro - great fast way to get around Rome). Try INKA Restaurant (Peruvian food) while staying at this hotel. Breakfast is downstairs, great variety of items. Hotel has two small elevators which work well. Front area is the lounging (outside and inside). Has nice bar set up in the hotel. Vatican not far from here. Also if you are going to the Rome airport, tell hotel desk and they arranged $25 private taxi ride in MBZ van. Would definitely stay here again!
Nothing worked in our room - the safe, blowdryer, shower, etc. It was only a couple of blocks from a few cafes. The lounge was out front which was different, but it worked. This hotel could do with a bit of fixing up. Front desk staff was OK. Clean rooms and quiet, beautiful umbrella trees to look out on across the street. Buffet breakfast was better than I expected. I joined a bus tour in Rome, so this was the first and last night. LOVED Italy though
I loved our stay here! They cleaned the rooms everyday. It had a bar and restaurant inside it as well. It was a nice quite hotel. The only thing was that it was not located near the center of the city so we had to take the bus or the train to get to places. It wasn't so bad during the day, but at night it was a bit scary (we were 2 girls) walking back to the hotel.
Was a good hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful and the breakfast was decent. There was less option for vegetarians though.Overall the stay was good. However it was a bit far from the centre.
The place is very nice to stay and relax at night time after having a long day of exploring the city of Rome and Vatican. Together with friends you can enjoy the night having some few drinks in the bar or in the lounge
We don't like the area near to the hotel. Same breakfast every day. No variety in food, no vegetables. Same fruits. Same juices. No air condition in the room. Refrigerator not working. Towels were cleaned eveeyday but smell bad.
I would describe this hotel as a "Good Base" - our room was quite small and basic, no kettle etc- but reception more than happy to let me take a pot of tea up. Pros: 10 minute walk to Metro (4 stops away from Vatican and 20-30 mins away from Coleseum) and convenient stores. Very clean. Very polite and accomadating staff. Cons: small room. Rock hard mattresses! Make sure you've had plenty of wine for a comfortable nights sleep :-)
