I booked this hotel on amoma.com, received a great rate (just the room rate, the local city tax isn't paid until you check out). The main reasons why I chose this hotel was because it had a lift and free wifi, everything outside of that was a bonus. The hotel was cute and clean and right across from a nice park. The 30 min trip from the airport was $45. Prior to finding the taxi at the airport, I called the front desk to see if they could send a shuttle, they couldn't at such short notice but they did tell me that the shuttle would have cost about the same. Once there, check in was a breeze. The front desk associates were nice enough and spoke English. The room was pretty clean and appointed nicely. It had a cute balcony. The negative: The room that we were booked into the heat was broken, unbeknownst to me at the time. By the time we found out, we were only there for 3 more days and it wasn't worth moving rooms. At night, it was FREEZING. I believe the hotel staff knew the room had no heat because there was an extra blanket in the closet that wasn't in other rooms. My issue is why would you even put anyone in that room, knowing the heat was broken. The positive: The breakfast was pretty good. The eggs and bacon weren't like back home but there was plenty other things to eat, cereal, yogurt, plenty of pastries, and bread, meats and cheese. The bartender Mark was AMAZING!!! The drinks were good and he was very helpful with information about the city, places to eat and things to do. As a usual solo woman traveler, I am always aware of my surroundings. I felt very safe! I felt very comfortable walking around after dark and around 11pm. The location wasn't in central Rome but wasn't super far from everything either, think Rome Suburbs. Tips: Don't use Uber in Italy!! Uber doesn't have UberX in Italy, it's been banned. They only have Uber Black, Uber Lux and Uber Van, whose rates are much higher than regular rates. Instead, download the It Taxi app, its much cheaper than Uber and works the same way. I paid 9 euros to get to Vatican City by IT taxi when I paid Uber twice that on the day prior to get to the same location. The Metro station is only about a 5 min walk down the street if you want to get to central Rome that way but the Metro gets really really packed about 6 stops before Termini Station... I'd never do that again, even if someone paid me. Overall, my stay here was pretty good and I would stay here again. I'd also offer this as a suggestion to someone visiting Rome.
We booked this 4 star hotel from the hotel home page where we found the best availale rate on the web. It was a good choice , all was to our satisfaction: the staff was friendly and professional, the breakfast was with a Reach buffet breakfast, the room was large, clean and quite , with a small balcony with a nice view on the pinewood in front of the hotel. The price are very reasonable , we can say that they have good value for money.
This is considered an "airport hotel," but it has much more character than most. Many rooms do now have balconies, so ask for one when you make your reservation, if that matters to you. Also, some rooms have only showers, while others have tubs with showers. I've stayed in both kinds. Most rooms have 2 twin beds, but some have a double bed. It is an older hotel but well cared for. Rooms are a little small but very manageable for two. The price is economical. Decor is "classical." I had one room with a balcony, 2 twins, and a full bath that was completely tiled in marble. Very elegant. Our adult son stayed in a separate room. The staff is extremely professional and helpful. There is an open area on the roof with tables. The lobby is decorative, although the couches sink down rather too far for my tastes! Breakfast is very good with lots of choices and is served on the lower level. Two elevators are available for the stairs-challenged. There is a small but friendly bar in the lobby. My husband and I even enjoyed the nearby supermarket (5 minute walk) where we bought our dinner makings one night after a hard day of sight-seeing. Nearby neighbors on at least two sides of the hotel are apartment buildings, and they were quiet at night. We never had noise problems during the three nights we spent there.
Very nice staff, the room was more 3-star than 4-star. Breakfast buffet is well taken care of, we would have wished for less industrial food at the breakfast buffet. Opposite to the hotel there is a large green area, a bit wild but nice for a stroll.
Our family stayed at this hotel for five nights in a room at the top floor. The room had no balcony, and two tiny windows with a terrible view over concrete roofs in the neighbourhood. Very disappointing! The bathroom was really tiny (to be a 4 people room bathroom) with a extremely narrow shower. The beds were hard, and the fourth bed (an extra bed) was terrible for an adult to sleep in. The brekfast area was crowded with tables that were too close to each other, making it hard to move between the table and the buffet. The breakfast was OK. However, at several mornings during our stay, some plates in the buffet were empty and not refilled spontanously by the staff. The 12 minutes walk to the Metro station went through shady streets in a suburb area, and we didn't feel safe when we walked here in the evening. If we would return to the hotel in future, we would rather go by taxi from central Rome to the hotel during dark hours instead of walking from the Metero. Although there is a nice pinewood park across the street from the hotel, we never experienced that we could view the park from the hotel, neither from the breakfast area or from our room. The day before we were leaving, we asked the staff to order a taxi to the airport for us next morning. But the taxi never arrived, and the taxi company said that they hadn't received the order. In fact, the reception staff doubted that someone actually had placed our order o the taxi company the day before... We were not impressed at all with our stay at Pinewood Hotel Rome. The hotel is rated 4 stars, but gave the impression of a worn 2 star hotel. I would not recommend it. I am sure there are better 4 star hotels at this price level around Rome.
I had so much fun in Rome but all thanks to a welcoming team at this hotel.Mostly Linna.Great customer service even though we couldn't speak Italian. The weather was not the best but the warmth at the hotel and clear information update was one I the best thing that kept us to deal at home.
We had a very good time here. Amazing service, perfect location, kind people and very nice atmosphere. The breakfast was OK, you have many varations to eat. But the bath should be fixed, the water flows out. The other bathroom was perfect tho. Highly recommended +++++
We stayed here for 3 nights B&B. The rooms were clean and clean towels everyday. The breakfast was ok. The staff were all friendly and helpful. They recommended a restaurant near the hotel called Lo Zio Frankie. This was an excellent choice the food was excellent and reasonable price. We got the bus ticket to the Vatican City from the hotel which was 3 euros return. The bus stop is just outside of the hotel. When we got to the Vatican city there was a lot of touts trying to get you to buy tickets for the Vatican. We did get them but we haggled for a good price. We also went on the hop on hop off bus and again we got a good price for this as well. Make sure you take something to cover your shoulders as they will not let you in some of the churches with it ie The Pantheon. I wuld recommend this hotel.
we booked a family room for 4 persons 2 adults and 2 children. On our arrival in the hotel at 9:00 a.m. we had the pleasant surprise to have the room ready for us already at that time. The family room was large, with a setting room with 2 sofa beds , a nodern bathroom and a sleepping room with a double bed. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was with a reach buffet and with fresh product, the english speking staff in the restaurant was friendly. We could park free of charge our car at the privat hotel parking place . Just in front of the hotel there is a splendid pinewood from where we could see the St, Peter Couple . in the night it is specatacular. We enjoyed our stay at low cost, the price for our family room for 4 persons was € 110,00 per night with american buffet breakfast include. Hotel to reccomend
I stayed at the Pinewood for four nights the second week of October. My room was a value priced lodging for a single traveler. The room was tiny with a twin bed which was fine with me. It was reasonably clean though the rug looked a little worse for wear. The hotel is located on a busy commuter route and I thought street noise might be a problem but it wasn't since the hotel is set back a bit and the traffic thins out after 8pm. There was an air conditioner mounted over the door and it cooled quite effectively and was whisper quiet, so I kept the room window closed. These single rooms are located right next to the elevator which I thought might be a noise problem but I didn't hear it at all. The staff all spoke English and were very friendly, helpful and professional. Each morning the hotel puts out a full breakfast of cereals, eggs, cold cuts and pastries. The location is especially convenient for those focusing on the Vatican and Borghese gallery and park. There are just a few subway stops away. It is about a five minute walk to the subway (20 minutes with luggage!) and the Termini connection is about 25 minutes away. This location is less convenient for other major historical sites especially for those unwilling to ride the subway, which can get crowded. The neighborhood seems a little rundown with graffiti everywhere and overflowing trash bins -- but the latter were all over Rome. Lots of cigarette litter on the ground too. I am an older solo female traveler and felt safe walking from the subway back to Pinewood hotel at 11pm. The area is busy at night and well lit. The bed was comfortable and I slept well every night. There is an outside terrace with a fountain in front of the hotel and a nice lobby with a bar. Overall, a good value for the price paid.
