A great Hotel which is central with the beautiful sights of Rome within easy walking distance. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the rooms were a good size, nicely decorated and very clean. The breakfast was what you would expect for a continental breakfast with lots of choice. Their are a number of bars and cafe close by which are very friendly. A great 3 nights here and will be coming back in the future.
The ONLY good thing about this hotel was it's location. It's situated at the end of an alleyway and is close to most attractions. Apart from the gents at the front desk no other staff member could converse in English. The hotel was going through renovations and there was constant banging, vacuuming, drilling and trademen shouting 24/7. We booked directly with the hotel and we were not advised of the renovations when we called the hotel to make the reservation m. The walls are so thin you could hear any conversation happening in the rooms close to you. Just like their walls the pillows provided were thin, lumpy and uncomfortable. The mattress was rock hard and gave us body aches in the morning. Bathrooms were new, clean and spacious. The breakfast "buffet" was hardly a buffet. The first day we only had few bread items and boiled eggs in the buffet - apparently the hotel order had not gone through. To top all the negatives, we also got robbed from our hotel safe!!!! When we reported this even the staff at the front desk suddenly could not speak English and was not helpful, making us think it was an inside job. This experience really put a downer on our Europe tour and sadly we could not wait to get out of Italy. The hotel is rated as 4 stars, but honestly I believe it's not even close to 2 stars. Even though the hotel's location is good, I would not recommend this place to anyone as I do not want them to go through the same thing we did and ruin their holiday.
Stayed 2 nights middle of May. Rome is a truly beautiful city and this hotel is ideally situated just 5 minutes walk from the Trevi Fountain. Hotel was nice enough as was room however the air conditioning in my room was non existent. Less than ideal considering the heat. I was on 2nd or 3rd floor and had a glass door that opened to a small balcony overlooking the square. I decided to have this open as the AC wasn’t working in the hope it would help. Unfortunately at around 3:30am the bin lorries pulled into the square to empty the bins making plenty noise. This was then followed at around 6am by a truck collecting the recycling. What a racket as all the glass bottles were emptied! Breakfast was ok- best part was the views from the breakfast room.
We booked a trip and didn't have much time before leaving to book our hotels. When we finally did try to book hotels, we found that many of our first choices were already sold out. We discovered that Hotel Bolivar still had rooms, so we booked it as we needed to be closer to the buses on Via del Teatro del Marcello to catch our bus to our next destination. The room we got was on the ground floor. I had 3 twin beds, two of which were pushed together as a king (typical for Europe), but the space was very tight. The photos from other people's stays implied that we got the worst room in the hotel since our room was not nearly as spacious or nice as the photos from others. In the bathroom, we only had a tiny shower and the toiletries were just thrown into a bin near the floor each day. Since we were on the ground floor, we made sure that we locked up the windows before heading out, but the cleaning lady opened the one in the bathroom each day. Yes, there was a latch on the shutters, but that could easily be undone with a stick through the slats. The lady in the breakfast room was friendly enough to greet us with a good morning each day, but she had no desire to do anything delicately. As she constantly cleared plates and brought out clean plates, she more or less threw them to where they needed to be. So there was no such thing as a quiet breakfast with her throwing plates and cups around. Would I stay here again? Probably not. But if this is the only place to stay due to last minute booking, maybe. But I would look twice as hard to find somewhere else.
After being booked in a mediocre hotel by our agent out in the suburbs, far from public transport (but with parking) we found this hotel and were pleasantly surprised. Right in the heart of Rome. Short walk to Colosseum, Font di Trevi, and easy bus ride to the Vatican. Parking was available (must book, and Eu 30 per day), but great breakfast and quiet location. Friendly host and bar. Restaurants and shops close by. Will definitely stay here again when visiting Rome
Located in a quiet cul-de-sac right in the heart of Rome a short walk to the Trevi Fountain is this boutique restaurant. The location is first class I was here last year (2016) a have booked to stay here again in Feb 2018. The room wasn't big but the apartment was clean, the staff were helpful and accommodating. The rooftop dining area is a delight and makes going up for breakfast to enjoy the view of Rome special. I was travelling with my son who is Gluten intolerant and the kitchen staff were fantastic and had lots of options for him.
Good breakfast included. good location not too far from tourist sites. Tucked away up a narrow street, it is fairly quiet, although it shares a courtyard with the back end of a restaurant so there is some noise from inebriated diners. Beds are not very comfortable. Lobby smells like smoke. All in all, I would return. Free internet.
The room was small. The bed sheets and pillow cases were a bit dirty. There was only a large towel in the bathroom. The breakfast was just OK and didn't have many options to choose from. I'm not a picky customer, but for 140 euros/night I expexted a lot more. I can't understand how this is a 4-star hotel!! 3-star at best!!
We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and quaintness of this hotel. Location was central for our week long stay before heading to our cruise. We had a room for the four of us with 2 single beds and a queen. Plenty of room for us and all our luggage. Housekeeping always kept the room neat, clean and well stocked with amenities needed. The front desk gentleman, Peter, was very helpful with directions and places to see. They always greeted us with friendly hellos. The full breakfast buffet was a very nice touch each morning. The room was on the top floor with lots of windows to take in the sights. It was bright, clean and delicious. It is located in a great spot, short walk to the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Collesium. There were a couple nice gelato shops around the corner. On the side of the building were a set of steps down to the street. Like your own Spanish steps and it also had a spring water fountain that we filled our water for our walking tours everyday. Nice and cold! It is also next door to the President's House. It is definitely close to shopping and lots of restaurants. A great hotel at a great price. Oh, and the wifi was great too! Definitely will return again. Thanks for a great stay, Comfort Hotel Bolivar!
I overall enjoyed my stay at this hotel, however there were a few problems for the price. The rooms were far more outdated than what you see in the photos. The shower would scald you one second and freeze you the next, not to mention the fluctuating water pressure. The wallpaper was made from a beautiful satin, but had stains on it...But on to the good part! Our balcony was amazing. Amazing! It had such a beautiful views, and plants everywhere. It was quite large too. You could almost host a small party on it. The breakfast was a feast for a king and in a breathtaking room with an amazing view of Rome. The other thing that I liked is the fact that that hotel is in a wonderful location if you are looking to walk around Rome, but it is also a bit hidden from people and noise. The staff was very friendly as well, and spoke several languages. Overall, I would stay here again and plan to quite soon! I took this trip with my best friend, and plan on taking the next with my husband. I don't really recommend this hotel for a friends vacation as it has quite a romantic feel to it.
