I’ve stayed at RIU hotels before, so I came in with a good understanding of what to expect,and this stay absolutely lived up to the brand. Overall, this was a great experience. The hotel, rooms, food, beverages, and especially the staff were honestly amazing.
That said, I want to be very transparent so people know exactly what they’re paying for before booking.
Things to keep in mind:
Around the hotel, there isn’t much to do outside the property. I was aware of this going in, so it wasn’t an issue for me. If you’re looking to party, go clubbing, or explore downtown nightlife, definitely check the location beforehand. Transportation can be costly if you plan on going out often. Personally, it would perfectly for me.
Hotel could improve:
Entertainment: From morning through the afternoon, the experience is great, you’re at the pools, the ocean, and enjoying the property. But from around 7 PM - 11 PM, there isn’t much going on. The hotel is huge, I think they could really use that space to their advantage with more entertainment.
Beach seating: There's beach chairs, but there are no chairs directly by the ocean on the sand. For me, relaxing by the ocean is the best part of a beach resort, so having chairs closer to the water would make a big difference.
Volleyball court location: There is a volleyball court, but it’s a bit away from the hotel. People did play, but if it were closer to where most guests hang out, I’m confident more people would play.
