Spent four days at High Country Haus in Winter Park for a short ski trip. I was in building seven, unit five which is a first floor unit and is really convenient when you’re getting back from the slopes with all your gear on. The Lift bus pickup is right outside the door and the first pickup at 8:00am gets you to Winter Park in time for the first run. The lift is free and runs back and forth once per hour. The bottom line on this condo is that it’s a fully functional no frills sort of place. Probably built in the 70’s with little or no changes. The two bedroom unit came equipped with a well stocked kitchen in terms of utensils, an electric stove and microwave. Again everything was dated but it all worked. The only thing circa current decade was the TV. The beds were comfy. The only complaint wasn’t with the unit. I swear the people above us let their kids wear their ski boots inside and they walked everywhere in them it seemed. Even to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The rec center is about a two minute walk and is quite nice with three hot tubs (one outside) a large pool, small workout room, a pool table and nice locker rooms. If you are a tad older like me and get off the slopes earlier it’s a great place. By 4:30 or so the kids take over. Lol. The town of Winter park is conveniently located and there is a grocery market as well. Typical fancy ski town stuff. If you go further down HWY 40 to Frazier you can get a more local flavor. So if you’re looking for high end luxury this isn’t it. If you just want a place to crash your weary bones after a day of skiing and don’t care about much else, this works just fine.
We enjoyed our stay in a one bedroom unit at the Hi Country Haus. The condo was a bit dated with the decor and everything worked well except for the Wifi. The bed was pretty comfortable, but a little too soft and bouncy in my opinion. We shared the unit with another couple who used the pull out couch to sleep on. They said it was pretty good for a couch bed. The pool area is really really nice. They have a men's and women's locker room, an indoor pool with two hot tubs, and an outdoor hot tub. The bus to winter park ski resort picks up here every 30 minutes, or it is a short drive to the ski area. We would definitely stay here again for a ski weekend.
We rented a 2 bedroom2 bath unit for a weekend and really enjoyed the location. Check in was quick and easy. The unit itself was clean but a bit dated. It was furnished in typical mountain chalet furniture. The kitchen was well equipped with coffee marker, microwave, large refrigerator, dishwasher and all the pots, plates and utensils needed. Bedrooms were good size and the beds were ok. You are able to walk to a variety of shops and restaurants in minutes.
While the rooms are amazing I was greatly disappointed by this hotel and the Beaver Village management company in general. There website is very deceiving about wifi availability. I booked this room on business and clearly cannot get much work done if I have to pack everything over the clubhouse to get wifi. Please clarify which buildings/rooms have wifi on your site so that people are not misled. I am quite disappointed.
We had a really great stay and the attentive staff made everything very easy for us. That, along with the great location, close to everything, and we will definitely return to this comfortable atmosphere.
The condo was a little older--very '70's--but, it was spacious and very comfortable. The fireplace was an awesome touch. It was very nice to relax in front of a real fire in the evenings. My only complaint was some noise which came from (I think) the baseboard heat. I slept in the master bedroom and was woken up throughout each night by the creaking sounds of expansion, which seemed to be coming out of the ceiling. I can only guess this was from the baseboard heat in the condo above.
Hi Country Haus is a very convenient place to stay. We stayed in building 14 which the ski shuttle comes right behind the building. There is a handy app that tells you when the bus is coming. There are a few restaurants within walking distance from the condo. Our unit was comfortable for 4 guys. Yes some of the fixtures could have been from the 70's but they all worked! The rec center has 3 hot tubs and a pool which looks to be pretty new. All was clean and well maintained. I would recommend checking this place out on VRBO.
This place has various levels of quality places from value oriented not remodeled to high-end remodels. It lies on the Fraser river in the heart of Winter Park with plenty to do and convenient to everything that this charming place has to offer
These condos are not your fancy condos, but you also pay a lot less, so a great deal overall. Our condo was very dated in decor, but bed was comfy and soft couch and big screen TV. WIFI was included and seemed fine. I love the 2 bed 2 bath condos. Gives a family of four a little more space and the teens love having the separate twin beds. They recently redid the recreation center and it is beautiful. Great indoor heated pool, hot tubs, and nice pool table. Nice seating area outside the pool with a big screen TV. Easy check in for later arrives and check out took less than a minute. We have stayed here 2-3 times and is always the first place I look when coming to Winter Park. Plus, the indoor pool isn't something you find at most of the condos.
The condo was FANTASTIC! Beautiful, clean and quiet. HOWEVER, my first and LAST trip to Winter Park will be remembered as the trip from hell. After 1 hour and 10 minutes of looking for the elusive lockbox in order to get our room key we finally found the place. The person in charge had told us that the address to get to the lockbox was 344 Hwy 40 when in fact it was NOT highway 40. The same person had also told my husband that it was "kinda tricky" to find the lockbox. Knowing that it was "tricky to find" better and ACCURATE directions should have been provided. THEN......we were told we would have WiFi and were given the password, etc. Well......what a shocker NO WiFi. This wouldn't have been an issue if we hadn't planned on having WiFi. Calls to the business office number and the after hours number provided to us went unanswered. We had planned on taking advantage of the hot tub etc but were not able to do so due to wasting over an hour trying to get our key. The Management needs to better train and inform their employees. We were not the only ones struggling to find the lockbox. 2 other guests were at the lockbox when we got there and each of them said they had spent over an hour looking for the lockbox. Stay at these condos cuz they are FANTASTIC BUT beware that you will probably spend LOTS of time looking for your key if you arrive after 5. And don't expect anyone to answer your calls for assistance.
