Clarion Hotel2.5 out of 5.0

I may be a tad biased with this review as my friends and I were staying the night after being rained out on lake Superior, whilst camping. Our needs were simple. Hot showers, comfy beds, and no wet. I booked through Hotels.com and had no issues. I have to recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to stay in Sudbury close to downtown. The rooms are clean, newly renovated, and well appointed. We booked a two queen bed room, and there was plenty of room for us three gals to spread out. Check in was a breeze, as was check out. Outside parking, and our car with the Thule was fine overnight. The lot is well lit and I think, patrolled. We asked for extra towels when we got up to our room, and the night guy brought them to us within five minutes. Excellent service! The attached restaurant, Hardrock42, was decent pub food with a HUGE selection of local and craft beer. We didn't have to leave the hotel to go down for dinner, which was a bonus. This is as bit of a jaunt back up to the Big Nickel and Dynamic Earth, so if you are touristing in Sudbury, you'll need to know the route back up to there. The location is right beside a Beer Store, which, when we arrived, had various people milling about that we were leery of. No one really bugged us, however. As we ate dinner, many, many rough-looking folks were wandering the front of the hotel outside, looking in the windows, smoking in front of where our booth was. Again, it didn't bother us, but if you wanted to walk after your dinner, this might not be the best location to do that. There is a pool, we didn't use it. In summary, a good hotel, good value, comfortable rooms, and efficient service.
We stayed at the Clarion Hotel for 3 nights in early July. The hotel is clean and comfortable with good size rooms. No issues with the wifi and close to Dynamic Earth & Science North. The kids loved the pool and the staff are friendly. We stayed Tuesday - Friday and found it to be very quiet. Great value.
I just returned from staying in Sudbury. When I was checking out, the concierge advised me that some of the rooms were undergoing refurbishment. Unbeknownst to me, I had stayed in one that had not yet been refurbished. It was still very clean and nicely decorated. Best of all, the mattress was super comfortable. I told the concierge that if I could have stuffed the mattress into my brief case to take it home, I would have done so. There is a pub-style restaurant on site with very good food; in the mornings, it offered a number of good-sized delicious breakfast selections. There is a small business office where one can convenientlyprint up a boarding pass before heading out to the airport. If and when I return to Sudbury, I will stay at the Clarion.
this hotel has had some extensive upgrades in the past year or two. The rooms are large and nicely appointed. the cleaning staff are thorough and very friendly. there is a nice pub style restaurant that serves great food and a wide variety of craft beers on the main floor. The only drawback is the location in a rough neighbourhood. We spoke with a couple over breakfast who had their car broken into the night before in the hotel parking lot. They said the police mentioned it was common in the area.
The room I was in was very large with two queen beds. Very comfortable, clean and well-equipped. The fridge was noisey so I unplugged it. My room was opposite the elevator, but no noise from that. However, the walls between rooms are very thin. I could hear every word from the neighbour's tv. I don't think they had the volume particularly loud as I could hear nothing in the hallway. So, I think it's the thin walls. Front desk staff were friendly. Parking looked a bit tight, but I got a spot. Unlike many hotels in this chain, there was no breakfast on site. I receive a $5 off coupon at the attached restaurant. It was fine; no problems. Coffee and service was good.
This is my second stay for business. I like the location in the centre of town, close to my meetings. There is a good pub downstairs. The rooms are simple , clean. The bathroom is small. Overall, good price, clean, good location.
Just returned from our fourth stay at this hotel and once again did not disappoint....the rooms are comfortable , hotel is quiet and the facilities meet all needs for a family. Our only concern is that brown water continues to randomly flow from the bathtub tap....what is going on ???.It has happened on previous stays( different rooms each time) and should be taken care of by now...We enjoy the pool but the temperature could be a bit warmer...As always the restaurant is wonderful, hotel staff courteous and the location great.
Stayed for business, rooms recently updated . Free parking reasonable rate. Bed was a bit hard but overall comfortable. Hardrock 42 great beer selection fantastic wings. Great place to unwind after work.
Hotel is in downtown Sudbury which was convenient for me. The area around seems a bit depressed but don't let that sway your decision to stay. Room was clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable too. I had a king room with a shower only. The attached restaurant was a nice convenience with a good selection of food.
Good size, comfortable rooms with fridge reasonably priced. Guest-oriented, very professional and courteous service. Pool and exercise room. Restaurant & bar (Hard Rock Cafe)on level floor. Near downtown, with restaurants and movie theater nearby. Business station and free external parking. Excellent value!
