Smelled like cigarettes. No coffee maker in room. No sugar for lobby coffee. Website says- restaurant and bar- not there. There are, however, other restaurants nearby.
Hotel needs a major upgrade. Furniture/cabinetry was rundown and falling apart. Pictures are very misleading. Had my reservation been refundable, I would have left right after arrival. The area looked sketchy, people hanging around outside at the hotel next door was sketchy, Being told the front doors are locked from midnight to 5am was the icing on the cake. Lobby also smelled funky. If you value safety, I wouldn’t stay here

It was not clean.
When we arrived for check in the lobby smelled very bad. The front desk staff were clearly not wanting to help us. They could not find our reservation and were very rude about it. They called someone on the phone and still could not find us. They said they had 1 room available for 1 night but were sold out for the second night. We called Orbitz to find out what was going on. The staff would not answer the phone for Orbitz. The next day we called the hotel to complain and we found out that the property has been purchased by Fairfield and the staff should have called the new managers to get us a room at the Fairfield nearby. So give this property some time to get fixed before you stay here. Orbitz found us a room at another nearby hotel and they were fantastic.
This hotel room needed the flooring replaced. They say they are pet friendly but they charged extra for our dog that was as much as what we paid for the room for ourselves and there was no pet walking area. There is only breakfast onsite on the weekends. The pool is only available until 8pm.

There were stain all over the room. Dirty sheets and smelly corridors. The elevator smells like socks. My wife got sick there and had to cut our vacation short.
The room was falling apart. Mold under the sink in kitchen. Chair with white spots, not sure what that was. Curtains falling of windows. Your feet stuck to the floor in kitchen.
Not clean. Run down hotel.Heat is a joke,i put it up to 90° snd still cold in room. Not much parking. Hotel next door low budget so noisy at night.
The rooms were very large and comfortable. The kitchen even comes with a dishwasher and cascade pods!
The property was well maintained and very clean. I will definitely come back.

We hope that if your travels bring you back our way again that you will give us another opportunity to impress you. Unfortunately, we can not control the other hotels and restaurant located in our parking lot and we have been making some repairs and renovations to our rooms. We do keep our doors locked over night and most hotels do in fact for the safety and security of their guests. Again, we do appreciate your comments and do hope you will give us another opportunity to host you during your next visit to Wilkes-Barre.

Good morning,Thank you for choosing the Host Inn Hotel!I am sorry no one let you know that we have a fenced in Dog park area off the south side of the hotel with stair well access keyed for guests use.Our In-Door Heated Pool is open as stated on the website and third-party booking sites 10PM-8PM 7-days a week.All dog friendly hotels have a pet fee as being a dog friendly hotel require extra cleaning and insurance costs to allow dogs.This also noted on the websites.Our normal room rate on the weekends is 129.00 tax, and our dog fee is 50.00 tax.Please travel safe and be well.
