We had a wonderful time at this historic gem. The room was spacious and comfortable. From Breakfast to Dinner the food was very good. The Tap Room has great "comfort" food while the ice cream shop has really good milkshakes. We liked the Windsor dining room for dinner (food was great), but it is slightly dressier. When you go, think outdoor activities. The ropes course, lawn bowling, golf, hiking on 5,500 acres are all right at your fingers. All in all a wonderful weekend.

Beautiful location! We were only there one night and I recommend 2 or 3 at a minimum to enjoy all that’s availability. This is in a very rural setting so don’t expect much to do within a 50 mile radius, just enjoy the resort itself.

My family had chose to stay at a nearby RV park and I just chose the nearest “luxury” hotel. Skytop was a pleasant surprise for us, there is little else in this class in the area. We drove through the impressive grounds and into the cavernous lobby and how a wow moment! But I’m glad we had a room in the Inn as we don’t really like “old” and really enjoyed the balcony and privacy there. We used the shuttle once to get back and forth, it was very prompt. We preferred walking through the lovely grounds. Coffee arrives there at 7:30 so you don’t have to go up to the main lodge right away. The included breakfast buffet in the main dining room made the room price have extra value. It is an excellent buffet by any standards. And even if you’re not a hotel guest, the fixed price is worth it! I took an excellent Pilates class that was included free of charge. There were all kinds of activities but we did most off premises with our family in state parks. We did use the bikes and the staff was terrific, adjusting, directing, looking for our return. It was great to ride to the waterfall. With 5500 acres it would be nice to have more trails. The long one was closed due to snake activity. Yes, there are some shabby spots, carpets, scratched furniture etc. But it is clearly a well loved and well used property and had it been perfect, I believe the room prices would reflect it and it would have felt stuffy. If I were a busy working person a two hour drive away, this would be a heavenly “adult camp” escape for a long weekend. I would use it frequently! It is also a perfect wedding or conference venue. Everything is self contained yet spread out with lots of activity options. Overall we thought it was a terrific find.

The positives--1. The lodge is impressive, although everything is very dark, it is made of stone and the common spaces are beautiful. 2. The food was very good (we had the full meal plan) 3. The service was excellent. The negatives--1. The property is well used, and overall a bit shabby. 2. You would not want to come here in season without children, this is a family place with lots of outdoor activities and the children would be overwhelming. 3. The gym is horrible, a true dungeon with little equipment. But who uses the gym when the outdoors provides so much to do! 4. Drinks/wine is expensive, like being on a cruise ship without the beverage package.

We recently celebrated a major senior birthday with our family of nine. It was enjoyable, but certain issues should be addressed. Pro’s: *Food was exceptional, and truly deserving four stars. Stay with the Windsor. The Lakeside (view?) was extremely slow. We had a package deal, so only had those two options, or had to pay extra. *The staff was exceptional. Christian, the shuttle driver, and all of our servers come to mind. They were so kind to every family member. I also very much enjoyed talking with the staff at The Outfitters. *The grounds, porches and play areas for families and children were terrific, and perfectly manicured. *Hiking paths were lovely, and well marked. Con’s: *My major beef is the lack of wheelchairs. We had to use precious packing room for travel to bring one for my Mother. And judging by the age of many of the visitors, I cannot understand this oversight. *You can not control room temp. I was freezing most of the time, and even saw a space heater being delivered to a room. *Be prepared to wait for the tiny elevators. I used the stairs, but some family members could not. *Be very careful when requesting a handicapped room, as my mothers bath had no grab bars, and the toilet was packed into a crevice so tiny....well, it was surprising. I totally understand this facility opened in 1928, and there will be issues. It was a nice weekend, but we, as a family will not return. Thank you for a nice time.

We booked a room at the Inn and arrived on a Thursday. There was no one available to assist with luggage. We had a lovely view overlooking the golf course, that we enjoyed. The carpet throughout the common areas was stained everywhere. We could not adjust the temperature in our room , it is regulated by the hotel. We had to heat the room with the gas fireplace that is on a timer, at 42 degrees outside we were not happy. I have difficulty walking and the hotel would not let us rent a golf cart so I could enjoy the grounds. The restaurants were a disappointment for a "premier luxury resort ". (cold nachos in Tap Room, Tasteless King Crab in Lakeview, and Undercooked filet and overcooked prawns in the Windsor ) The hotel needs a facelift, places where wood was scratched and carpets were worn and dirty. Be ware there is approximately 4 inches by 4 inches at the back of the closet stating that walking stick, umbrella, robes and pillows would be charged to you if they were missing. We did not even notice it until pointed out by our friends and we were missing an umbrella. It would be nice if at check in the staff pointed this out to its guests. The only thing that would classify this is a "luxury resort " is its price.

This beautifully maintained. Estate offers visitors. A very good golf experience, a nicely Equipped resort fir walkers, bikers and people who love outdoors. The food is average and a bit expensive but the views are truly awesome And photogenic gems. Especially nice during the change of seasons

Decided to take a trip for our anniversary and we were not disappointed. There’s so much to do and you can get as involved or uninvolved as you want. The staff was also great. We will definitely be back. The only issue was the pipe water in the tub was very dark brown when we turned it on the first night. It cleared up after running the water for a few minutes.

We were amazed of the grandeur of this mountain hotel. Its like a trip to Eastern Europe. The gardens were magnificent and so colorful. It was so relaxing to just sit and enjoy the scenery.Restaurants and main lobby were decorated just as they were from the 1920’s.Each days itinerary kept you busy with things to do .The staff was so friendly and helpful. We will be back again soon.

It’s amazing hotel ,surrounded by lash greenery and a gorgeous lake. But there is the only one thing that ruined everything .Poor animals are kept in horrible cramped cages at the basement of a Skytop Lodge hotel at kids playroom .What is purpose of this?Enjoying animals suffer or help raise children who will make the World more heartless and cruel? Please empty the cages!
