Absolutely loved our vacation at Sandos. We just got home 2 days ago and did not want to leave. My husband our twin 12 year old boys met another family there and we all loved it. The food was delicious, the beach was amazing. Great pools, rooms were just fine, very clean, we had to call maintenance on a couple of broken things and they fixed them asap! Would go back again for sure!
We'd recommend this hotel due to its great beach. We're lucky to get a room close to beach as the majority lived in new buildings approx. 1 mile from it. The information about shuttles is false as there're 3 shuttles for 9 people/each but they run sporadically with too long intervals, so people with kids and aging guests have to walk to the beach. Besides, we want people to know that if you'll need assistance you better avoid asking Front Desk Manager Mireia Andres as she is rude, unprofessionally unfriendly and demonstrates CUSTOMER-NO-SERVICE. Unlike Hotel Manager Mr. Luis Ramirez, who is accessible, by the way, to help. Our great "Thanks" to Mr. Ramirez!!!
Me and my husband visited Sandos Playacar for 7 days this December. From the moment we arrived at the hotel the customer service was great and prompt. We enjoyed the all inclusive meals and drinks. 14 places to eat and drink, and the food was great overall and served hot. The only complaint about the food is the variety within the restaurants. They could offer a couple different options in the buffets to make sure the food options available are always changing. The rooms are cleaned and well taken care of, however some items like the ironing boards may be a little outdated and hard or impossible to close. Our mini fridge was not working when we arrived, and they had replaced it in less than an hour after the call was made. The hotel is really in a beautiful place on the beach where you can actually enjoy the beach and even swim, kayak, jet ski ($55 for a half hour was reasonable) or take a ride on a sail boat with an professional for around $30 for a 45 minutes. I really also loved the idea of them doing different activates on the beach every day, from games to conga lines and bull rodeo etc. They try to make sure there are lots of activates available for every one in the family. Overall the stay was wonderful and we would like to bring the entire family next year! We were very pleased about the entire experience and felt blessed for choosing Sandos Playacar after 4 months of searching for the perfect and also affordable place to spend our vacation.
the most upset thing was the main buffet is under constructions, and it was not very enjoyable to stay in line to get into small buffet by the beach
the people who worked at the resort were absolutely great, they were there to assist and if you happened to get lost get you on the the right path.. the food and choices were fine and the entertainment was great. the rock band on Friday was outstanding. I can,t wait to return
The place is being renovated and will be nice when the work has been completed but: I have been to this location five times which includes the recent stay. I have never asked for an upgrade but have always received one at check-in. I invited 3 other people to travel to the resort telling them about the fabulous accommodations. Much to my surprise they would not upgrade any of us and did not appear to care that I had been there many times in the past .. The basic rooms are dated, and ours had cracked tiles on the floor, the bathroom sink was cracked, the refrigerator worked poorly, and it was not the cleanest place. The other guests room was equally as bad and the refrigerator did not work at all.. One thing for sure is the beds and pillows were comfortable.. The staff was also very rude. I will not be going g back, there are many other choices in the area.
Our stay was great at Sandos Playacar. The french restaurant was the best. The beach is beautiful. The only con we had was having to take hotel transportation to go some places in the hotel. Sometimes the wait for the trolley was too long.
Nice place --stayed 10 days -- beach was nice --all sand --no rocks -- water is calm and shallow --got rough enough 1 day to body surf--- sufficient shade on beach with plenty of seating--- the resort provides a lot of entertainment on beach during day including bands and dance alongs and even sets up buffet on beach on some days --there are 2 volley ball nets --stayed in adult section -rooms are nice with huge 2 person hot tub -- maid kept room spotless -- good mattress--nice pool in aldult section with swim up bar --unfortunately - adult section is about 8 0r 10 minute walk to beach -- trollys provided hold only 6 or 8 people and run very infrequently -would be tough on people with trouble walking-- food was very good --great cuts of meat even the hamburgers were top quality - they were as good as anything we get in new York --- we went during shoulder season so resort was not fully booked and management opened all restaurants without any limit or reservations --great call by management --on down side they use plastic reusable cups not disposable cups throughout the grounds -we both picked up a cold while there and heard a lot of guests with same cough --if you stay in adult section you can go to premium bar where you can witness the cups being cleaned --they are all hand cleaned-- jose in premium bar in main lobby is a real good guy and does a good job cleaning the cups ---another outstanding employee was pedero he walks resort and requests info from guests trying to improve everyone's stay----if your going to stay long enough ---rent a car---use Alamo--- they were great and didn't jerk you around ---check with your credit card they should cover collision and theft so you only need to take additional liability --which you should definitely purchase -- car can be used to visit #1 coba #2 ek balam and chichen-itza # 3 xcaret---------at coba and ek-balam you can still climb the pyramids ----
This hotel was amazing! I want to go back for a health and wellness journey. Their spa and gym is huge and they serve chlorophyll and mint water that is addictive! So much to do, ad The coolest rooms I have ever stayed in! Thinking it would be a great place to return for my husband and I's 1 or 5 year anniversary. So amazing! I have reccommended a few friends that have gonea and went over the past 3 years. They all come back very greatful they took my word for it!
The hotel was great! We really enjoyed the hotel and amenities that came with the hotel. This is hotel was certainly geared towards kids 13 and under. There wasn't much to do for adult activities. The only reason why I wouldn't recommend this hotel was due to the bed/rooms. The beds were terribly uncomfortable and the rooms were not everything that the pictures lead them to be. It was almost like sleeping on a cement block.
My boyfriend and I went to Sandos last July 2014 and LOVED every minute we were there and didn't want to leave! We stayed 6 nights and this year we are going back to stay 8 nights at Sandos. We had the best experience from the minute we got there! We were booked for a standard room, but they were all full and so they upgraded us for free to the adults only section and we had the best time ever there because you get a suite room where it is quieter and we got the adults only section on the beach which is way more quieter than the regular section. We had a relaxing time. The front desk receptionists were always extremely friendly when we had a question and we got to know most of the staff by their names and they knew ours. Rooms: Our room was a junior riviera suite and was huge! The jet tub was the best. If you haven't been dating long or it's your first year together taking a trip this room may not be best for you because the toilet had just a piece of glass for a door and I could hear everything when my bf got sick... :( Although we had been dating for a long time this was no biggy for us. Food: AMAZING. The pasta was awesome even when in Mexico haha. The mexican restaurant gave the biggest portion sizes and it was almost the best mexican food I ever ate. :) Bars: If you tip a few bucks they will remember your drink and you will get great service (we did because they work their butts off!!) The beach bar was our favorite because you barely walked a few feet to get a drink and there were even beach servers where you didn't have to get up to get a drink which was nice. Beach: GORGEOUS. I've been to Riviera Maya the previous year with my parents and we stayed at the Catalonia privledge Maroma (worst first experience ever) but I have never in my life seen a more gorgeous beach. If you like walking you can go right and there will be a great area for pictures or just a nice walk its about 10 min walk but you won't regret it. Also, there are no resorts on the right side of Sandos so it is extremely peaceful and not busy just the way we like it. We loved everything about Sandos and will definitely be returning this July!!!! :)
Second time .. Near playa del carmen, nice beach.. staff nice. beautiful room..
Trip totally met our expectations!! Food was great, excellent beach, staff was friendly...
The hotel surpassed my expectations i loved it was great. The staff was so friendly and everyone really treated you well. I really liked location of the hotel.
Very nice beach(the best beach im Playa del Carmen, good food ,good size rooms.
Great vacation, value for your money. Only complaint is that some activities open late and close early. (Not a deal breaker) Would definitely visit again.
This resort exceeded our expectations, location was great, very good value for your money.
While the hotel was not extremely luxurious, it was comfortable and well kept. We were upgraded and stayed in the adult only section which was fantastic. It was further away from the beach but they had trolleys and a van that take you further into the resort. I felt the staff was professional and, even though I did tip, I never felt like they were hustling for a tip. Some staff even refused the tip. The food was better than I expected. I think my only issues were the beds (and pillows) were firm, very firm and I didn't care for the shows. It might have just been the show I saw but it was not entertaining.
Wonderful hotel. Lots of different excursions to do also that were close to the resort. Sandos did a great job making a wide array of activities available to people. Great trip. Beautiful resort.
Everything in this hotel was great, the staff were very friendly but understaffed.
