Our villa was huge (though expensive), heated private pool. The showers could use some work. Terrible water pressure and the door was falling off our master shower. Unfortunately while paying 2k a night we had to endure construction that started every night at 9.pm and went well past midnight. Another night at 9:45 a worker entered our villa without calling or knocking. We were in bed with our kids and it was really scary. We told the hotel about both and they took $300 off our bill (of over 15k…I mean, thanks I guess?). Otherwise the staff was great, massages were amazing, loved the buffet, pool by beach was beautiful though wish there were more shady spots and real lounge chairs.
Everything was beautiful and perfect at Banyan Tree!
The place is jungle luxury. The staff aims to please. I will be back! I’ve told others they must try! Food is great! They will customize everything to your liking! Service is amazing! I felt like a queen! So take the amazing boat ride. Do splurge on the serenity villa! It’s worth every penny you wont be disappointed or want to go home!
Hi, what’s unique at banyan tree is that each gust is made to feel like he is the only one, place is very laid back and very relaxing, amazing staff, very friendly and always out there to help, will definitely come back in the future, 5 start service 💪💪💪
Amazing property Service was really good. When some mistakes were made, they quickly fixed them and with great tact. On the beach, times to get service were long and the carts to get you to your room took a long time.
Amaizing place , is the paradise , one of the best location in Mayakoba
Beautiful grounds great friendly staff nice ombiance.great service very accommodating
We went to Banyan Tree for Thanksgiving break. The hotel wasn’t too crowded, the weather was nice, and we had a positive stay overall. However, pertaining to the hotel and amenities, we found a few fallouts. The beds weren’t especially comfortable, the air conditioning was quite extreme (it was either that or completely off) and the toilet seat was scraped. Following that, the complimentary toiletries such as shampoos and soaps weren’t luxury. On the bright side, the beach always had space, was very clean and the water very warm, and the weather beautiful. Personnel were always very friendly and responsive, but the quality of service wasn’t especially great unless the manager was around. The beach also didn’t have a shower for washing your feet from the sand, something we found inconvenient and odd. As for dining options, there are many for dinner, but the lunch menu was very restricted. However, besides that the amenities were beautiful, the gym and spa were great. The property it’s self is older than 10 years, from what we noticed, so the fallout could be due to that. But overall, we had a wonderful and positive stay!
Only one thing we would like to complain is the Thai Tea quality is not consistent at the Thai restaurant. Since the hotel is famous of this Thai restaurant, we were expecting a good Thai tea. We ordered it at the first night we were there and it was great; so we went back on the third night to order it again since we had a wonderful experience from first night, however, the Thai tea is totally unacceptable and watery... we were so disappointed...
Very airy and quite Place. staff is really friendly and helpful... perfect place to air out.
Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff, a wonderful resort in all respects!
The villas are exquisite. Every inch of the resort is manicured and elegant. The food is made to other with Chef Victor willing to get you anything you desire. The staff is so attentive they virtually anticipate your needs. A server named Gilman gave us great recommendations and made our stay delightful.
I wanted a safe, remote and relaxing resort to stay at with my 6 year old son (thus kid-friendly with activities). Banyan Tree Mayakoba was perfect. Luxurious, great/helpful staff, attentive and kind, very clean and the rooms and bathrooms are wonderful. I've had the great fortune to stay at a number of hotels/resorts around the world and Banyan Tree Mayakoba ranks up there as one of the best. I enjoyed having the private mini-pool and lounge areas as well as the room backing right up to the lovely mangroves. I was impressed by insect control and the thoughtfulness of layout to ensure comfort for all. They were so friendly and helpful during check in, and the resort itself is understated yet lovely. If you are one who doesn't want to leave the resort, this place is perfect. If you do, it is perfect - they are very accommodating to ensure you have a wonderful stay. As someone who likes to pack and travel lightly, I very much appreciated the extras in the room (slippers, flip flops, robes, beach bag, tooth and hair brush, etc.). Lastly, I very much appreciate the eco-focus although I feel there is more that could be done here, in particular with single-serve items like q-tips or mini-bar items. With that said, they do a wonderful job with what they can do. Loved our stay.
Although this is a 5 star hotel there are better options in the area. I've stayed in the Nizuc and Rosewood in the past year and rate them both higher than Banyan Tree. Kids facility could do with an upgrade although my 5 yo was happy just to be interacting with others her same age. Perhaps your focus is golf in which case it's right on your doorstep. I'm not a golfer. Rooms look tired if you've stayed in either Rosewood or Nizuc. Be warned, the internet is very slow if you require it for work (1M)
Recently went for a short 3 day stay, had an amazing room with a private plunge pool. I say room, but it really was it's own separate structure- not connected to any other room/building- so had no noise from anywhere. The property is immaculately maintained, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The beach and pool are gorgeous. The food at dinner and breakfast were phenomenal- noticed that people from Rosewood and the Fairmont were coming to Saffron to experience the great meals- so good ate there both nights and had different dishes each night. Would highly recommend for couples over families- the Fairmont next door has better kid attractions including a water slide.
Super nice high end hotel, great place in general, could have better food.
We had a perfect 5 days at the Banyon Tree Mayacoba. The villas are private and luxurious, with very nice amenities including private swimming pool in your yard area, very high cielings, gated prívate courtyard, Bose Wave Radio, stone and wood finishes, Lavazzo coffee maker, free standing double granite vanity in the idle of the bathroom, large well appointed walk in closet, private lagoon front, etc. our only complaint is the price of the food /drinks vs the quality (very expensive, below average quality). We will come again, but will try to go out for meals more often.
