The Westin New York Grand Central

4.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

The Westin @ Grand Central now charge a "destination fee" for staying as a guest. They are suppose to disclose this information to you when you check in, but they did not. I had to ask for the "destination fee" receipt when I checked out, as I knew they would be charging me. At first the employee told me that there were no charges, but when she printed the receipt the charge was there (approximately $25 per day). Since no one told me about the "destination fee" services (only pointed out the sign to me once I was checking out), I could have received food discounts at the hotel restaurant...IF I HAD KNOWN. Shady, shady, shady practices. So...a cheaper cost on Orbitz does not end up being cheaper. Simply add $25 per day to your room charge. DISAPPOINTING.

Having stayed many times at the Westin Grand Central, I was surprised to find out on a trip in October 2017 that they had instituted a mandatory "destination fee" of $25 plus taxes. This buys you pretty much nothing that you would want and so, in effect, simply jacks up the price of the room. Put slow "enhanced internet," broken ice machines, and non-functioning electrical outlets on top of the required fee, and you end up with a poor deal. I've had my last stay at the Westin Grand Central.

It was our 1st time to NYC and we had little knowledge of the lay of the land. We quickly learned the layout and we pretty much walked to all our tourist destinations. The hotel and the staff were excellent, would stay here again in a heart beat!!

We checked into the hotel and upon arriving at our room discovered we did not receive a room with a view as booked. The manager stated that the hotel was fully booked but we could receive a $100. credit and no destination charges and then be moved to a room with a view in 2 days. The first morning we had to report that our shower drain was clogged and flooded our bathroom and bedroom. We did not have a tv remote and our duet cover as missing from our bed. After two days we were moved to another room. Again we did not receive a room with a view. This manager gave us another $50 credit and said nothing else could be done. At check out we were charged for $206.50 for the destination charge and taxes we were told we would not be. After emailing the hotel they stated they would credit the $206.50. However, they not only did not credit the $206.50 but they charged our credit card for $1546.50 more. When speaking to the Westin's accounting department they said that "oh that was the amount that was to be charged to Expedia (we booked through Orbitz)" and I see nothing for the credit." "You will have to supply documentation for the $206.50. We have no record of that." I have just now emailed the hotel again and am waiting on the $206.50 credit.

Was decent experience with complimentary water and clean room. Problem with shower water pressure, shower drain clogged and bathroom had mildewy smell.

Excellent stay! I would recommend this hotel .Thank you

Nice hotel with great views of the city - the only area they need to work on is check-in/check-out experience, but as long as you're patient (most travelers in line were not), the staff is friendly once you finally get to the counter. Location is good - walkable to 2nd ave local restaurants or the touristy things around the hotel.

Great hotel and location. Blocks away from Grand Central...

The staff was helpful and friendly, the room was spacious and clean. The shower was awesome!

I had a wonderful room in the center of the city and had a great time! I was able to walk mostly to everywhere I wanted to go. I went to dinner, the theater and just had a wonderful time without having a one hour drive home. Well worth it

The hotel placement and the staff were great. The room was very comfortable, and clean. I just had the bad timing of being there while they were working on the outside of the building so had to keep drapes closed while they were outside the window, and also working on their fire system so got to hear fire alarms a few times, but since spent most time outside exploring the city didn't matter to much just a little inconvenient, but they have to do it some time. Just about 1 1/2 blocks to Grand Central station, so easy accesses everywhere.

Quiet room. Close to Grand Central Terminal. Quiet location. Friendly staff.

Great! Clean comfy room! Excellent location! I would definitely recommend the Westin.

Experience was great! Only issue was the water in bathtub took long to drain. Everything else was excellent.

it was fun and the location was great easy access to transportation and walking distance from landmarks shopping etc.. great food around the hotel

Good location. Friendly stuff. Big room. Walk distance to so many places.

First time to New York, so was not sure about where to stay in regards to location and accessibility. This hotel deffinetly hit the spot! Hotel was very clean, rooms were spacious and location (right next to Grand Central) made it easy to start your morning siteseeing travels. I would highly recommend this hotel, and if given the opportunity to visit NYC again, I would choose the Westin Grand Central.

The was hotel was very nice; the staff was great but to pay $65 a day for parking fee was too much I think.

The hotel was nice but did have problems at check-in. I had booked a room with a king-size bed and a pullout sofa. When I got there they said they didn't have a room with pull-out sofa so they were only going to give me a room with a king size bed. I did need the pull out sofa. They said they could upgrade me to a room with double beds for $60 more a night. After complaining and speaking with the manager, they did move me to a room with double beds for no additional fee. I was not happy that the room configuration I had specifically booked on Orbitz was not what they were going to give me at the hotel. In the end, with some complaining were able to get it sorted our but shouldn't have had to go through that in the first place.
