We chose the hotel because of the proximity to The Beacon Theater. It is a beautiful older building with history however the rooms do need some updating as well as the elevators but they are currently in the process of doing so...

The location can't be beat. Staff was very nice. The bed was decent. The room was small, which is to be expected in a NYC hotel, but there was no comfortable chair, and the cushioned part of the headboard was too high up to be of use. It was decorative only. So the room was uncomfortable and a little dark. Depressing to spend much time in. There were plenty of usb charging stations in the room, but none at the desk. There was mildew in the shower grout. The towels were scratchy. There was shampoo but no conditioner on the first day. For the money, I think I'll look elsewhere next time.

Nice hotel but the mattresses are a little hard. Location great for being close to Central Park and Lincoln Center.

Nice old world charm on the uws . Conveniently located near attractions and shopping and the best restaurants

Pretty nice hotel considering the price and location, definitely a cut above all the others I've stayed in that area. It was nearly impossible to control water temperature in the shower (scalding or freezing), otherwise truly a great value in that area.

not all the rooms are renovated and those that are not can sometimes have a mildew whiff. The hotel told me they had upgraded me to a city view room but it was on a high floor and i prefer a low one. the room I got when I arrived at 1:30 in the morning was depressing and small and they upgraded me to a suite, though that was not at all as modern and cheery as other rooms that I stayed in. the staff was friendly but I stay here often and am now keeping a list of the rooms i prefer. Some of those, however, are more expensive than standard rooms

small, tight, awkward bathroom; window AC units; damp

The AC was too loud. Wifi doesn't work. Other than that, it's a good hotel for a short stay in NYC.

Booked just for flight travel transit overnight (and because partially paid using Orbucks), my concern always is cleanliness and corridor carpet was dirty and 3rd floor tiny room and not clean as expected (due price mainly paid by Orbitz), TV control not working and then just decided sleep. For me at the end was OK, but not selected for long stays.

The staff was very friendly. I slept well and would definitely stay at this hotel in the future.

The floor in my bathroom was cracked. Staff seemed uninterested. Water appeared to be clear but after leaving a towel in the sink with the water running, the towel turned brown.

Excellent location and very good price for NYC. Close to multiple restaurants and shopping stores. We were there for the July 4th Fireworks and it was great not having to drive home late at night.

There is no restaurant inside, terrible breakfast. We stay locked in the elevator. my parents are handicapped, then because of this my mother shut up the stairs

Another business trip to NY Another great stay at the Belleclaire

The hotels located is great. It is clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were very kind

The location at 77th and Broadway is terrific, but the hotel was disappointing. First, the WIFI was terrible. I've been wondering what happened to all those old 14.4 internet modems, and now I know where they are. I could never get a stable signal, and it would repeatedly cut out after a minute or so. Completely unacceptable in 2018. Second, the room just seems a little shabby and in need of a refresh. My room had no closet, just a wall rack with some hooks and 3 cubbies. The bathroom looked like it was in need of a real power-cleaning. Maybe that's just the dark green tiles, but it didn't instill confidence. Also, the shower curtain was hanging from a straight rod, rather than the curved rod that most hotels adopted years ago so that the curtain wouldn't rub up against you while you shower. Third, there's a lot of street noise. I know, it's New York, and it isn't the hotel's fault if a city garbage truck decides to park 60 yards away at 2 am and leave the engine running for an hour. I was tempted to go out and turn off the ignition myself. Maybe the situation is better on the higher floors than on the 3rd floor, but better windows would help too. My room had a window air conditioner rather than central air, and that drowned out some noise when it cycled on, but it was noisy in itself. I highly recommend ear plugs.

terrible wireless. terrible wireless. terrible wireless. terrible wireless. terrible wireless. terrible wireless. terrible wireless.

Room is very small...you get the real old New York feel.

Rooms are extremely small, typical NYC style. Crew at check in was very nice. I think the hotel also has apartments, some of the people staying there were super shady. Pictures on website make the rooms look big, they're not. That being said it is a nice location if you're going to the Beacon Theater.

Friendliest staff you will encounter. Room has so much history being 115 years old. Excellent walking location for anywhere in the Upper West Side. Only down fall is no hot tub or pool to relax your legs after all the walking.
