While our stay went without any problems from the hotel, this really isn't a place to spend a week in New York at. Maybe just a quick getaway at most.
Great hotel for our 6 day stay in NYC.Location is perfect for local attractions and two blocks from subway for getting to other parts of the city. Local bakery and market are just around the corner. Restaurants are easily accessible within a few blocks walking in any direction.
As this was my first time to NYC & I was on a budget [student here], I was very pleased to find Hotel Belleclaire. The location is great, a bit off Central Park, located near transit & food. My check in was smooth [booked on Orbitz], the staff was very friendly & helpful, & the room was nice, though small. The room had a good sized closet, was equipped with an umbrella for rainy days, iron, ironing board & safe. All the good stuff. The cable was a bit spotty, but nothing too shabby, & the water pressure in the shower was AMAZING. Plenty of extra towels & washcloths, & the amenities definitely came in handy. To heat the room, there's an old school radiator, which helped a ton, as the weather was pretty brisk when I travelled. The bed was nice & comfy, & if you get too cold, there's extra blankets in the closet. Only thing I would complain about is the noise level. My neighbors had some very happy kiddos who rose early, with enthusiasm. Lucky for me, my conference times were also pretty early, so I didn't mind [much]. As everywhere else in Manhattan seemed to charge your firstborn, Belleclaire gave a great experience that didn't break my bank. Totally recommend!!
You must request a quiet room, not facing traffic. Staff was very nice to allow me to check in early.
I would definitely recommend Hotel Belleclaire to my family and friends. My husband and I also plan to stay there again. We had a wonderful experience and the staff was very friendly.
I like this hotel. Rooms are big for New York, clean, quiet and the staff is very friendly. The neighborhood is a neighborhood with a market, bakery, etc... I think this was my 5th visit and it does not disappoint. The room was quiet warm this time but the weather was strangely warm too...so I found it understandable. Jennifer
We enjoyed our stay but the bed was a little uncomfortable and the room was extremely warm. We turned down heat and opened bathroom window and all was well.
Very eclectic Hotel with an inviting lobby area. It was clear people liked hanging out in the lobby. There was always activity of some kind or another. Not a stuffy place at all. They don't have a bar or a restaurant but in my opinion that makes sense because you are surrounded by many food choices just outside the door. Most people would prefer going down the block for a bagel I think. They do have a coffee bar with bakery options. Comfortable beds, clean sheets and bathroom. It is not a big room and the bathroom is small. But it made little difference as we adjusted accordingly. It is an older building with a lot of history which made its appeal even stronger. Location couldn't be better. Central Park and Museum of Natural History to name just two places you can easily walk to. I loved the staff. Lots of staff available to help with luggage, answer questions, arrange a car if necessary. We checked out at 12 noon (another thing I liked) but our flight out wasn't until 9pm. It was no problem for us to leave our luggage at Belleclaire all day. I love the Belleclaire!
Welcoming and friendly place to stay on the Upper West Side. Always enjoy my stay at the Belleclaire.
My daughter and I stayed here on our way home from the Women's March. The Belleclaire was everything we could have wanted. Great staff, they even allowed us to come in early. The room was clean and nice. We enjoyed everything about our stay. Great location too.
Our fire alarm in the room kept going off between 4am and 4:45am. I had to call the front desk and the poor guy didn't know what to say. He was so thoughtful and nice, but didn't know how to deal with the situation. He said we could "change the battery"??!! But I explained that with 11 foot ceilings and a hard-wired electrical alarm system that batteries wouldn't matter. I suggested moving rooms, which we did...at 5AM. No one ever contacted me to apologize or correct the bill. I've stayed in hotels all over the world...and I was surprised the management didn't make this right for me. I rarely complain.
Overall very nice hotel. Great upper west side location. Very accommodating staff. Room small but clean. Nice bathroom.
The rooms are clean & the staff are friendly & I would recommend staying there.
We really enjoyed our week long stay at Hotel Belleclaire. It is a beautiful, historic hotel...lots of wood...gorgeous lobby. The staff was very helpful. The only small glitch we had was an outlet in the bathroom that did not work. It was repaired immediately.
Had a house guest stay there in lieu of staying with us. He loved the room and it's amenities. He was in room 719 with views of the Hudson
Great location. Rooms are small but very clean. They have a stove refrigerator and microwave. Comfortable bed. Clean bathroom. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would stay here again. Very close to Central Park
I loved this hotel space and location. The room was quiet, big and bathroom was not teeny tiny (like most hotel bathrooms in NYC). The staff were polite and courteous and the room and facilities all seemed very clean. Another plus was that the elevators were super fast (also unlike many other places I have stayed). Overall,I really loved this space. The only big downside was that, I was unable to stream any movies off my iPad in the evenings which was a huge bummer because that really helps me unwind after a long day in the city. The internet just barely worked for social media check ins sometimes. It seemed to work fine for text and email. Also, it advertised having free internet but when I checked in, I was informed I could have the free internet (which only works for email, social media,etc..) but to stream stuff it would be an additional charge of $10/day. After a day or so, I decided to try to upgrade but couldn't see how to switch over to the free version. I called down to the desk to ask for help but was told that the premium internet service did not work yet and was unavailble. When I checked out, I was asked by a person at the desk how my stay was and when I told her of the internet frustration, she asked if I had tried to upgrade. When I told her that I was informed by staff that this service was not yet available she seemed surprised (continued below)...
staff was lovely and able to answer all questions.
The room was very warm and we were not able to get the temperature right. We also didn't have complimentary coffee and tea.
