This hotel was very nice. Clean. I have to wonder though because the clerk told us she had only one room left. I just read another review that said they were given the last room also.hmmmmm. The room was $149 and no AAA discount was given. The breakfast was very good. I would stay here again.
We stayed at this hotel last week. We were traveling through Kentucky on our way home and there was apparently something going on because I called approximately 15 hotels between Louisville and the West Virginia border and there were no rooms to be had. It was getting dark and there were deer on the highway so we pulled into this hotel hoping they would have a room. The clerk said they had one vacancy, a suite, for $149 and she was unable to give us a veterans or senior rate. Out of desperation we took it. She mentioned that the room was recently updated. It had a king bed, but one side of the mattress was collapsed-you could see it as soon as you entered the room. Since we had been told it was the last room, we slept on one side the of the bed and left as soon as we could the next morning. I did report it to the clerk the next day, along with the fact that someone was smoking on our floor. I have tried to call the manager several times today, and left two messages, but have had no response. This is not bad customer service, it’s no customer service at all!
We stayed here for an anniversary trip to Cave Run Lake and Carter Caves. The location was great, the rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had to go to the next exit for a nice dinner, but that was fine with us. We would definitely stay again.
I booked a room specifically with Comfort Inn and Suites based on a previous stay with that chain although in a different location. I was so disappointed as soon as I walked in the door! There were no cookies, no fireplace, no books, none of the coziness that made me feel at home as I had on my stay at the previous location. On our way to our room we could see all the baseboards in the hallway had been removed and it looked pretty bad but I thought maybe they were in the process of redoing it so oh well. Then once in our room I was so disappointed again. The beds were ok but not the super nice beds I was expecting, the room looked clean but certainly did not smell clean. The non smoking room smelled as though it probably had been smoked in. My husbands pillow smelled like smoke. Leaving the next morning I noticed the hallway was in serious need of a vacuuming. The breakfast was nice. I gave this hotel a rating of average rather than poor but really feel like it landed somewhere in between. I admit the Comfort Inn and Suites on my previous stay at another location really had my expectations much higher. I wish I had known they were not all the same, now I will not be searching out that specific chain any longer. I paid a higher price to stay at this chain based on my previous experience. The next time I'm in that area I will choose one of the other chains.
This Comfort Inn lived up to all of the positive reviews! It was clean, quiet, and the king-size bed was super comfortable. Breakfast exceeded expectations! We have several family members who have food allergies, so my litmus test for buffets is whether folks with specific needs could find a good breakfast. And there were good options for vegan, gluten free, dairy free, and just plain hungry people too. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. Perfect overnight stay!
The location of this Hotel is GREAT as it is right off the Freeway in a quiet area several miles west of the town of Morehead. I thought the price was good but found out that if I had called the Hotel directly, I could have saved money. Beds are VERY COMFORTABLE!! Room is spacious but does not have a desk area if that's something you need. Was really difficult to find an electric outlet in the room at first, then realized there are two right on the lamp between the beds. Love that hotels are now putting them in convenient places!! I always travel with a Power Strip and that allows me to plug in multiple phone chargers etc. Our room was pretty clean but the carpets badly needed shampooing (not just vacuuming)...... I kept my slippers on. My husband and I like to sleep with the bathroom light on and the door almost closed. It allows enough light so we don't trip in the middle of the night. Could NOT do that at this Hotel!! The bathroom fan came on with the light and the fan sounded like a Freight Train!! SO NOISY!! Wondered why housekeeping had not reported it since it would be an easy fix. Also, the curved rod for the shower curtain was not secure and drooped in the middle allowing the curtain to slide away from the walls toward the middle and water sprayed out. I just put more towels on the floor to catch the water. The most upsetting thing was that the internet connection was HORRIBLE!! When we travel, we try not to use up our data and so do our business in the Hotel rooms when we stop. I could log on with our phones and one of our iPads but the signal would not stay and kept failing and reverting to LTE (data). My husband tried in the Hall, down in the Lobby, etc but nothing helped. I "googled" what would help and they said ask the Front Desk to reset their router. We didn't want to bother the lady that checked us in. Don't think she would have known what to do so we just had to keep logging in as it kicked us out........ This was probably the most frustrating thing about our stay. I have been a fan of Best Western in the past but am switching to Comfort Inns for reasonable one to two night stays when traveling. Lately BWs have been dark and dingy where Comfort Inns are usually light and bright. They have a VERY small business center desk in the lobby.
I stayed here while visiting my Mom and sisters for 3 nights. We had a nice suite and the outdoor pool was PERFECT. The staff was nice. I only have a few complaints. One was that they wouldn't give any kind of discount for staying 3 nights, two was the breakfast was hot but not very good, and 3 our phone in our room didn't work. Other than that, not a bad stay.
We arrived late and stayed 1 night only while driving across country. We had 2 rooms for the 5 of us( plus dog). The first 2 things I noticed was the stained carpet and the mildew smell in the room. Likely the carpet. Bed/ bedding was great! Nice fridge! Ridiculously small fitness center. Stay a night but not longer term.
Comfort Inn doesn't try to be a luxury hotel - but for the very reasonable rates, it is a very good value. Our room was comfortable and clean, the morning breakfast was tasty, fresh and hot - and the staff at all times of day were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was sold out when we were there, but the staff acted as if they were only there for us.
We have stayed at this hotel twice. It is a quiet area in which to stay but be aware that there is no place to eat at this exit except a Subway attached to a BP station. However, there are many places to eat at exit 137, 4 miles East. Plan accordingly. Staff here is very nice, breakfast is a wide variety and rooms well maintained. Just as you expect from the Choice hotel chain.
