It wasn’t a bad place to stay for the price. Especially if you like hiking, and the outdoors
But the cabin could use a few updates.
And we had gone out for the day for a hike, and came back to a whole lot of mouse droppings, and a half eaten muffin. And it wasn’t me who ate the muffin. lol. I get it, you’re in the woods and You should expect animals and critters, but made for a restless night, not knowing where they were, and if they were going to come back out. People were friendly, stuff was very nice and like I said, it wasn’t a bad place. Just don’t like sharing my space if you aren’t going to spare the bill.
We enjoyed our stay. I did not realize there were so many stairs. I would l like to suggest 2 improvements. Better lighting and an additional TV in the bedroom.
We had a great stay. The breakfast was 110% better than expected. The workers there were so friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again when I’m in the area.
The room was nice and clean. The area is beautiful. I was able to walk around on my own and felt very safe. The noise is terrible it sounded like people above us were moving furniture all night. We could also hear them clearly talking. We have stayed here several other times and not had this issue. If this had been the 1st time we would not stay here again.
In fairness we did not reach out to mgmt it got to late and we did not want to move rooms. We will give it another try but not stay in the part of the lodge.
The room heater malfunctioned during the night, dropping the room temperature into the 30's. Received a small discount as a result. Facility is old and in need of updating.
Cabins are nice but starting to be a bit dated. Beautiful area for sure.

We frequently stay at Hemlock Lodge. We are avid travelers so we have different views of lodging. Some may view the lodge as dated and could use updating but the rooms suit us fine. Always clean, incl a fridge. We prefer staying in the main bldg. The staff is always great, friendly and helpful. Ok breakfast included. Their bar is now open, bartender was great and excellent selction of bourbons and pricing!
Location is great for anyone wanting to explore the Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge area. We have been exploring there for 30 yrs and the Hemlock Lodge is a great place to bed down and rest!
Cottage was nice, but needs some repairs and updates. It was very clean, we had everything we needed, and it was warm. All the trails in the park was closed so we enjoyed some in the Red River Gorge, which was only a 15-20 minute drive. Lots of good restaurants in the area as well.

Good and bad points
This was our second time staying here. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and well maintained. Our only complaint about the room is that during the winter season they are cold. There are no heavy blankets or comforters provided. Only a thin bedspread. Also the breakfast is very sparse. Only waffles, toast, bagels, cold cereal and instant oatmeal. The coffee is really bad as well, very muddy
