My wife and I stayed in Room 326 from May 5,2017 to May 10, 2017. The room and hotel are spotlessly clean and well maintained. The rooms have a small kitchen if we had decided to fix a meal or two. We did not. We did make use of the large refrigerator and freezer and coffee pot. Housekeeping kept our room in excellent condition. Although there were plenty of young people in town for a basketball tournament we never heard a sound at night and slept well. The continental breakfast was plentiful and kept well stocked by a very nice lady named Shirley. She treated you as if you were in her home. We never passed a staff member who did not greet us in some way. We grew up in Scranton and visit once or twice a year. This our first time in this hotel but not the last. Kudos to the manager on a well run establishment.
This hotel is in a nice location and this wasn't my first time staying here. However, this time I arrived at my room at approximately 10pm and went right to sleep. The next day I woke up and saw something on the floor at the bottom of my bed. Then I looked closer and noticed it was a women's bra on the floor. This made me wonder just how good of a job housekeeping actually does. I notified the front desk and gave them the bra. I received a response saying they would let housekeeping know. Not what I expect from a Marriott property as a Platinum guest.
Room was nice. Requested extra towels. Room was missing washcloths, blanket for the sofa bed, and a sofa bed pillow and case. Front desk would not bring anything up. Made multiple trips down to front desk from 4th floor. I really don't appreciate having to leave my four young children. And this is just within 1st hour of checking in. Staff is lazy and not willing to go out of their way to just do their job. I stay at a lot of Marriott hotels and this by far has been the worst.
My comments are all based on my stay in a Studio Suite. Don't know how it compares to other room types at this location. It was very "compact" but provided everything one would need. However, I feel it is best suited for one person, not two. The studio has "tons" of storage and closet space. More than I have seen in most hotel rooms. So if you are planning an extended stay, you won't have any problems storing all your items. Kitchen was more than adequately stocked in order to prepare basic meals. No separate kitchen table so you either eat at the desk or the ottoman in front of the couch. Room was very clean and lighting was much better than most hotels who use low wattage bulbs making it difficult to read. The things I didn't like: --The only phone in the room was on the desk on the opposite side of the room from the bed. No phone by the bed. If you had a medical emergency while in bed, better have your cell phone handy. Plus, when the phone rang for a wake-up call, hard to find the light switch to turn on and stumble your way over to the phone. --The choice of TV channels were very slim pickings and even some listed on the hotel's guide in the room were either not available or the reception was very fuzzy. --A/C and heat are from a window unit; not central. Controlling the temperature and air flow was uneven compared to a central system. --No ice maker in the freezer. They provide 2 ice trays that you must fill and empty or go down to the first floor ice machine. --No glasses provided in the bathroom and the glasses in the kitchen are not the type that you would normally use in the bathroom. If I was in the area again, I would consider staying here. However, if I had a choice between TownPlace and Residence Inn, I would pick a Residence Inn as the rooms are larger and breakfast offerings are much better. FYI....if you are planning to cook....no grocery store nearby. There is a shopping center across the street with a large variety of stores but no food. There are several restaurants near the hotel including: Ruby Tuesdays, Johnny Rockettes, Panera Bread, Longhorn Steakhouse and a Pizza / Family Restaurant.
Perfect place to stay, cute little shopping area, ski area not too crazy. Affordable for the night...The pool way way too hot and my daughter's toe got burned...They said it is supposed to be as hot as the Jacuzzi but I think someone is confused...I never went into a pool as hot as a hot tub. Other than that, good room, comfortable stay, we had a nice time as a family. Breakfast was too busy so we went elsewhere...
We stayed here in August and the rooms were dirty, the pullout sleeper was broken. We changed rooms and the pullout sleeper was broken in that room as well, plus it still had dirty sheets on it and a baseball cap belonging to a prior guest. The staff is nice but the rooms are not clean. In addition, watch out for rooms over the firepit outside. If guests are out there smoking and drinking, you won't be going to bed until they do. It's poor placement of a fire pit - it looks nice but keeps the hotel guests above it awake. You can also hear noise from the stadium so bring ear plugs!
We are a family of four plus our pet dog. We stayed in a one bedroom suite for two nights during New Year's Eve weekend. The reason we choose this hotel was that it was pet friendly and of course the location. There is shopping, a movie theater and a variety or restaurants very close by. The rooms are pretty small but acceptable. I loved the fact that there was a fridge and microwave. Cleanliness of room was mediocre. They have a free breakfast in the morning which was nice. Nothing fancy but just something to fill your stomach before lunch. One waffle maker and a double toaster. They did have eggs and sausage patties both days we were there. I agree that the walls are thin as our room was right next to the elevator and I could hear my husband sneezing and coughing while standing outside waiting for the lift. Luckily, we had no neighbors in the next room or they were very quiet. They have a nice fire pit right outside the lobby and as it was NY's eve, there were people just hanging out until midnight. I would not want the rooms above the lobby as you can easily hear the conversations outside. The swimming pool is very small and I would say only good for small children. In the fitness center, they have two treadmills, an elliptical, an exercise bike and some weights. It was ok. Overall, I think that this was an okay hotel and would stay here again if in the neighborhood as it is pet friendly.
The hotel is a good location close to several area attractions. The staff was not overly friendly them seemed short. We had reserved two rooms and they only had one ready we came back a very hours later and the second room was still not ready. The pool was cloudy so we did not swim. The hotel also had a continually odor of curry in the hallway.
We stayed hear on New Years Eve while visiting family. While this is a tough evening in the hotel ,we felt a little better when we saw a Moosic police officer in the lobby when we returned from Mohegan Sun. I assumed this was a private duty job to take watch over the two neighboring Marriott properties. We were on the 4th floor on the front side of the property which was horrible as there was a fire pit at the entrance. We heard the drunk patrons hanging out at the fire pit until about 3am and the do some burnouts in the parking lot at 4:07 am. This fire pit was about 25 yards from the reception desk, so if we heard it fro the 4th floor, the clerks heard it and at no point asked them to settled down, though they may have been intimidated to say anything as the LEO was hanging with the crowd (not saying she was partaking in their libations) and was as loud the patrons with the worse cackle we heard until she was off duty at 3. I also heard her radio go off from midnight til she left with her loud commentary on what was happening. The breakfast was not their best offering but we are again cutting a little slack for it being a busy morning. We have stayed here before and enjoyed it. We also understand it would be tough for the staff to confront intoxicated patrons and a person hired to protect against disorderly conduct, but it made for a brutal night sleep. While we understood it's New Years Eve,there no excuse for not trying to regain control of the outside at least around 1am so guests could get a little sleep. Trying to have a fun new years day with family and then driving home on about 3 hours sleep made for a long day and definitely felt short changed by Marriott on this stay. While I was first inclined to give them a break due to it being New Years Eve, the fact that we paid more money to stay here this time than last time cancelled out any chance of that as we still expected good customer service even on a rough night.
Marriott typically cares about their customer --- not John [--]. He clearly could care less that the phone app says something totally different from his website and will charge you $100 for your pet. BUYER BEWARE. Pets are welcome because? They are overcharging you on a fee that they don't tell you about. Totally bait and switch. And in resolving it? John [--] is not putting his customer first. He's all about the business and has not listened to me at all, has not refunded his fee. He does not care about his customer so in my mind, he is not a good Property Manager Put him in charge of mowing the lawn and plowing the parking lot -- get him away from dealing with people.
