OK, so I was pretty apprehensive after reading the reviews. But I went ahead and booked a room - after all, I was only going to stay for one night!! The place IS in definite need of a face lift; it's stuck back in the 1970s. But the gentleman at the front desk was very pleasant, and my check in went smoothly. I even received a call from him after I'd gotten settled in my room to make sure everything was OK. The room was immaculately clean, and the appointments, though budget-conscious, were just fine. There was no carpeting in the rooms - a bit strange, but the floors were in great shape and very clean! No frills here, but I didn't them!! A pleasant chat with another gentleman at the front desk upon check out - I had no issues whatsoever with my stay!! THANK YOU!!!
Chose hotel for location for weekend getaway where I would be attending festivals, concert, etc. in downtown area. Overall, hotel is not well managed nor are grounds clean. And, hotel elevator was out of order, dirty surroundings, and many people smoking near/outside one's room and in the parking lot, including some of the staff. I had a room that smelled like smoke even though a non-smoking facility, people were loud late at night, yelling to one another from one floor to another/down the hall, loud music from cars, etc. A real shame since great location yet extremely sketchy crowd. If have other places to stay, do so.....and had to change room at 12:30 am on the first night due to smoke smell too. The renovated rooms aren't bad and comfortable enough if doesn't smell, can get sleep and not be hassled. However the surroundings/grounds need to be greatly improved as well as management needs to take a more proactive approach to managing the property including the guests. Also, had kids in first room next to me when I first arrived and was getting dressed to head out where sounded as if renovations were going on. When I opened the door to try to determine what was going on, a gent's comment was that hotel didn't allow his children to play in the parking lot, yet seemed ok for them to play in the room and bother other guests. Can write more too about my experience, however hopefully I wrote enough to deter you from staying here unless management cleans up its act so to speak.
The front desk agent, Rebecca was very kind. Every request that we asked, she was able to accommodate it for us and she let us stay in the lobby to wait for our ride. Great Hospitality! 4 Thumbs up!!!
The team member Dip was very polite and helpful gave me a nice clean room with extra towels and wash cloths lol and also showed me some great places to get food. I highly recommend this this hotel great stay perfect location.
At the end of a long day we ended up in this place. Plain we would have expected but not scruffy. It was not well-kept at all. There were stains on the bedsheets and hair in the bed. But then they asked for a generous tip for the person who cleans the room... On asking for clean bed sheets we got the answer that they have run out of and were handed out some towels... It was very hot in the room so we started the AC but switched it off immediately. The noise was unbearable, like a motor bike or lawn mower. There was no way to find any sleep that night. The people at the reception and those who run the place (maybe the same ones) are highly incompetent and we suggest everybody not to stay there. The next morning on the way to the freeway we noticed that nearyby there was a new and clean looking Red Roof that we had not seen the other night. Bad luck.
Location is perfect for downtown York. Older building with small rooms but is well kept. We were on the first floor and heard very little noise from the other rooms on a Friday night. Very close to York College.
The first room I was given has no sheets or bedding in it, the room looked like it hadn't been rented out in years- it was filthy. The 2nd room had sheets, but when I checked underneath the sheets the mattress was covered in blood and the room was filthy. The 3rd room (Yes, I gave them multiple chances because I had already pre-paid), the 3rd room was no better. I finally just left, drive away and forfeit the money I'd paid. The money was already gone, and there was no way I could sleep there.
I booked at this hotel because it is close to where I needed to be, and because they are pet-friendly. When I booked my reservation, I asked for a ground floor, because my dog does not do stairs well. When I checked in, I was told they had no ground floor rooms available, and the elevator did not work! So I had to carry my 17# dog up & down the outside stairs (in the rain). 1. The fridge was not cold, and there was food in it. 2. There was no clock, except on the microwave (too small to read from the bed.) 3. There was no list of TV/Cable channels 4. There was no soap, only shampoo that was not full . 5. The light in the sitting area did not work, although I pointed it out to the service man who came to put new bulbs in the bathroom (because they didn't work, either.) 6.There were no hangers on the clothes rack. 7. There was no directory of local restaurants in the room. 8. There was no glass tray in the microwave. 9. The writing on the AC controls was so worn away that I had no idea how to change the temp. setting. 10. There were no hand towels, and there was no floor mat. The shower curtain was too short, so water sprayed out onto the floor. I can tolerate one or two things not being good, however, this was just way too many for me. The desk clerk, Rebecca, was friendly.
Horrible 3 night stay. Mold in bathroom. Shower filthy. Double charged for 2 rooms when we only had 1. Elevator broken & stairs are different heights making you trip. The free breakfast is a joke. The front desk is rude till the last day when we had a nice fellow talk to us. We didn't shower for 3 days while there.
Due to my constant procrastination, this hotel was all that was left when I needed a room in town. Upon riding my bike up to the parking lot, I knew this was going to be a rough one. The lot is a tad scary and the hotel has seen better days. Walked in to check in and the gentleman behind the desk gave no greeting, only told me where to sign the bill and how to get to my room. Took the elevator up and opened our door to find that our room looked nothing like the picture (shocking). The two beds were small for doubles and the room was very steamy. Kicked on the A/C which thankfully worked, and cooled the room down after 30 minutes. Remote for the TV did not work, so operated in old fashion way by standing and switching channels manually. Signal was not in HD, very blurry and could not tell what channels we were watching. Took a shower and found many hairs surrounding the walls of previous guests, very disheartening. Dried off after shower and then noticed more hairs on the walls of the bathroom. Checked out in morning and "continental" breakfast was very limited. Some cereal, basic bagels, and milk. We decided to skip it and purchased elsewhere. Overall the price we paid was good and the room proved to be a good place to get some sleep, however if anyone is a hotel snob AT ALL, I do not recommend this place.
